This is stupid. You have no clue what you’re talking about.
There are different kinds of cardio and conditioning. Different muscke fiber types, and different energy metabolism systems.
But if you didn’t already know that, I’m not going to waste my time educating you when you’re clearly just going to dig your heels anyway.
But you might go research this, if you like fight sports. In the earlier days of MMA, there was a lot of crossover with vale tudo fighters fighting in Pride and UFC events, and some UFC fighters fighting in vale tudo.
The ones who did well were the ones who also competed in Jiu Jitsu, (some ufc fighters used to do both, dont know if they still do) because that’s also an endurance event.
UFC fighters are good at UFC. The carryover to longer endurance events is not that great.
I have seen every single UFC. I have seen every pride. I have seen tons of Vale Tudo events. I have watched many underground MMA tournaments. You are talking to someone who has competed for well over a decade. Those guys that crossed over from Vale Tudo weren't guys fighting like you described. They had rules.
There are plenty of guys that compete at high level BJJ in the UFC right now, but they get stomped out because the game has evolved so much.
You really don't know wtf you are talking about. Both sports work your aerobic cardio and your anaerobic cardio. The difference between no rounds and 5 min rounds would not make all that much of a difference in the cardio, but you are correct it would give an advantage to grapplers since they wouldn't get stood up. That is the one thing I agree with you on. However, those grapplers that compete in Vale Tudo would have 0 shot at taking down a UFC fighter because their wrestling and striking is that much better.
