Kind of like in the NBA when the refs give all the breaks to the team that goes to the basket more often and has a more physical presence. Those Big 10 refs really didnt do us any extra favors thats for **** sure.

The face mask one really bothers me because the head contact has become the prime focus for refs. It was the QB blatantly in the middle of the field with no one around.

there’s no excuse to miss that call

I see that called all the time, and was surprised here that it wasn't. Maybe I wasn't too surprised.

Yeah if anything they are overly protective on these things. Understandable. So it’s like “how?”

I have been waiting for him to become a bully since day one. He should be pushing aound the entire ACC this year if not last year. I hate how many times LBs & DBs push him around.

Their offensive line was massive. Their DL (esp Anderson) was getting pressure all night without having to blitz. The LBs go sideline to sideline. Yes, 5 stars.

Slants? Maybe. King didn’t throw to the middle of the field much at all. Again, I didn’t like the gameplan - running into a loaded box as you mentioned. But you are fooling yourself if you think we could’ve won this game. Manny and Lashlee could’ve made the perfect play call every time and we were gonna lose. Don’t have the horses.

Mallory is completely overrated. I think I started a thread on it this summer when I saw some pundit project him as a 1st round pick.

Maybe Mallory is straight line fast when he gets going, but he has no quickness when releasing and no lateral quickness. Poor change of direction. Never creates space. Doesn’t play as big as he is. Can’t block.

On a separate but related note, the Bama TE was ragdolling our DLmen all day. He looked way bigger than our DEs (although I think I heard the announcers say he was 250 lbs).

Also, Bama CBs were jamming our guys at the line. Safeties were not deep at all. It was real crowded and there was no time for anything to develop.

Funny thing is the only 2 guys who looked like they could physically match up with Bama were Tyreke and Ivey, and they were bailing all night (as usual). Ivey isn’t good, but this system does him no favors. I get they don’t have the makeup speed to keep up with the Bama receivers, but we got shredded anyways. At least let them try to jam at the LOS. I hope we see them jam vs APP where our DL and blitzes should be able to get home.

If we don’t see schematic improvements I will lose all hope this season. Any acc squad can rink and dink us down the field with the press bail and 10 yards off ****. Big game on Saturday

Yep. I don't know how you can miss King's head suddenly looking at the end zone behind him as a guy is reaching for his head. They picked up a targeting flag on Thursday nights Ohio State v Minnesota game. Ohio State kid did far worse than Bolden, but the announcers and the referee guy in the studio were tripping over themselves saying basically he didn't mean it so it would be a shame for him to get kicked out.

Its too much to ask them to look like they played football before with the most experienced team in CFB. Ole Miss and UF could do it. But asking us to look like we played football before is too much for you and Manny. We are too unreasonable with a Roster thats not too far off Clemson's. Thats how you end up getting **** on by UNC at home 62-24. Every insipid performance is excused away. Ok so you need better talent right? You know how you get more talent, stop looking like high school teams everytime you play any team thats decent. Mack Brown goes to UNC and even in his first season, not a single game they lost by more than a score and they went 7-6. Ask that of Manny, no way, cant beat LA Tech or FIU or Duke. Clemson or Bama, forget it, game over in 10 mins. Atrocious

Is it only in the NFL where you can't touch the QB's head? Like even if you brush his helmet it is a penalty, that is what shocked me as he clearly got hit in the face but I am unsure if that is also a NCAA rule. I know NFL because I remember people joking about Brady as someone swiped at him, he ducked because he saw a big a$$ hand coming at him and it did "look" like he got hit but on reply you can see he missed him by about an inch but he still got the call.

I’m not sure about that. I think this team is built to compete in the ACC.

Bama combo of size and speed is rare. They would and will rag doll everyone outside the top 4. And forget the jimmy and Joe’s… Saban had all off szn to prepare for us & he is the best in the business. We won’t get our schemes to that level by anyone else, aside from maybe Carolina.

Our squad is small but big and fast enough for ACC play. I trust TeCory Couch blitzing off the edge much more when he doesn’t have to get around Evan Neal ready and waiting for him.

I know, we should be competing for championships every year, right?

If you can’t be realistic, you’re not gonna have any fun watching this team.
 
Manny can’t even align our defensive properly pre snap nor match the numbers in the box. What more evidence is needed that manny sucks? We our outflanked before the play even begins. It’s middle school Mickey Mouse bull****

It's on 11. Where the **** is he going?

Well, 11 and the fact that not a single kid even stalemated his matchup. We lost every single battle on this play, our mike got spooked by a non-existent jet, like he's going to make a play on the weakside anyway, and Tyreke gets caught up in the carnage (excellent word by Cube, that's exactly what this is).

This is just punishment. Borderline capital.
