Did Diaz do this spot drop zone garbage back in 2017 and 2018? Although when we played a good Clemson team our defense got worked in 2017 so maybe it doesn’t matter
Diaz said something that actually made me realizr how he thinks which is flawed. We played a bad coverage and the QB was flushed and completed the play. He said against any other team thats incomplete, which is bull****. Other teams will dice up those lose coverages. He is a stats coach. Not an emotional or situational coach. Thats the reason our players are down every first quarter in every game against decent opponent

Great video! looks like the sky isnt falling afterall. ive been screaming from the rooftops that scaife wasn't it since last yr.

Still really like this team, the fact that Mccloud played above average is a godsend.
Yes, OP and Coach Hayes both opened alot of peoples eyes that wanted McCloud **** near thrown off the team. He played better than we thought.

But neither one of those defenses ran a 4-2-5?
No they had it as a rush package. Its really a nickel. Our is a little different, theirs were 2 down DEs, 4 LBs and 5 DBs. It wasn't their base defense. It was quite effective when teams were not hurrying to the line and preventing you from substituting.

So "Zion" got owned a couple of times?? 45 offensive plays and he got owned "a couple of times" doesn't seem that bad to me. JMHO
On the second drive alone, he was owned on back-to-back plays that ended the drive (2nd and 10, 3rd and 7). I believe he was also called for the false start to get us into 2nd and 10 vs. 2nd and 5. The point isn't Zion is BAD. The point is that Zion should have higher expectations than say Rivers or Justice yet got his a$$ handed to him. He isn't a 1st round pick at this point unless someone is projecting him to develop a ton more over the next 9 months and is willing to let him fail a ton on Sundays. The NFL is not the place to go to improve as you either play well or sit. Zion would be smart to come back to Miami for 2 more years to fine-tune his game so he can play on Sundays. Playing=2nd,3rd,4th contracts. Sitting = 1 contract.

Thanks for sharing.

Rams defense does this now. Base 3-4, then replace the nose with an extra DB on passing downs. Even Bama ran it against us.

It's not a fair fight. Our O and D lines can't hold up to any of the top 5 teams currently. We just don't have the manpower to win in the trenches...
Then why did this board spend the entire summer acting like NFL scouts would soon be camping out for these guys?

We are so poorly coached on the defensive side of the ball it’s laughable.

You had Jennings - MLB - out in coverage on an island against Metchie - Bamas best WR and potential 1st round pick.

You’ve got poorly disguised blitzes - and when Bama audibles, we don’t audible out.

You’ve DE’s consistently dropping out into empty space, with no one within 10-15 yards of them - covering nothing but air, because their aren’t players on that side of the field.

DEs not setting the edge

Players in space covering nobody

Living a dying with soft zone defenses. Bama sent guys in motion often so their QB could recognize the zone pre-snap

Bingo. Bing, bingo, BINGO!

He’s a stats coach as opposed to emotional or situational because he never played the game before.

I got something we can take away. Jordan Miller looked pretty dang nimble and quick on that fumble recovery. Good hands too. Nice play all around. Chantz laid the wood on young too and didn’t have a massive run up. Shows his explosiveness. But Miller has molded himself into a player. He is a great example of feeley being a solid strength coach

Well this sounds familiar

This can't be true. Ohio State would have never allowed that to happen. Fake news. They'd have gameplanned against this, and there's no shot in **** that Sark would have earned his money, countered, and found ways to get his guys the ball. I didn't watch the game but I'm sure Ohio State won 3-0. The coaches of those two staffs are so good, no chance in **** the other team would have any success.

Those defensive coverage breakdowns were on Diaz. We got good pressure yet the QB was able to get the ball away, why? Diaz leaves easy routes open, while Bama does the reverse, the clamp the easy routes and by time the deep ones get open, we are under pressure or sacked. And then on the reverse side Lashlee is there trying to get easy routes but slants and deep crossers were the way to go after Bama. Bad gameplanning on both sides.
I think King was over 85% completion for a very low YPA most of that game, which easy routes was Bama taking away again?

I agree on what you're saying about our D though

Solid breakdown.
It's painful to watch that Mallory block. You're a 6-5, 245LBS upperclassman, act like it man.
Missed calls on us won't ever change. Don't understand how the facemask on King wasn't called. Frustrating ****
Hall not falling on that fumble......
Missing Harley wide open for two TDs sucks. I didn't see that in the game.
That QB run on 4th and goal was a copycat play from UF last year against Bama in the SEC championship. I'm giving it to Chaney all day.
Kinchens reminds me of Jaquan. One of my favorite canes. I hope to see him, LT, and Williams getting playing time.
Good points

as much as I don’t want to blame refs in a game we were outclassed, that missed face mask on King was absolutely brutal

we needed some breaks in this game and really only got one. When you play a better team and they get the breaks, you’re ****ed

I agree with this. Seems like the refs were rewarding Bama for being the more physical team. Kind of like in the NBA when the refs give all the breaks to the team that goes to the basket more often and has a more physical presence. Those Big 10 refs really didnt do us any extra favors thats for **** sure.

Agreed
Don't forget our Linebackers getting toasted by any TE on any team< we don't even align properly, we are already beat before the play is even run :

well maybe if our DL would keep their rushing lanes this wouldn't be a problem. It always seems that are rushers are always bottle up, or push to one side.

Manny's always been this way. His entire defense is predicated on getting to the QB. He's been blessed with elite talent on the DL. Without it, I'm afraid his tendencies & predictable play calling/blitzes will be exposed all year.
