Quarterback and pass rusher

These are the two most important positions in football. They have the biggest impact on winning, they’re the hardest to find, they get paid the most and they go the highest in the draft.

Miami has a true college star at QB for the first time in 17 years. A month ago in Shreveport, Miami’s QBs were a blooper reel. Now, we have a highlight reel. Teams will need to gameplan against King's running and vertical throwing. The fit and timing could not be better. It took decades of slow death to embrace the spread. King and Lashlee will provide electroshock therapy.

And then there’s the pass rush. This was already the strength of the team. We’ve finished 7th, 2nd and 2nd in sack percentage nationally the past three years. It’s hard to be bad when you rush the passer like that. The only other team that finished Top 10 the past three years was Clemson. By adding Roche, you pair the best returning pass rusher in the nation with another Top 5 guy. And Phillips might be the most talented of the bunch.

Manny failed for a lot of reasons. Several of those issues remain. But he has no more excuses at the two most important positions on the field.
But he will find one...

Yes, there was hype over our QB transfer situation last year as well but we're talking about a guy in King who actually has a strong college record, unlike Tate who was more than anything a great potential out of high school.

You guys are deliberately trying to be obtuse. There are still huge questions about this team w/r/t the OL and more importantly overall discipline and leadership but it's hard not to get excited to have landed a guy who has 50 TDs in a season under his name.

Manny is elite in the off-season. All that smoke people had for Manny just about disappeared. That being said while I think Manny isn't the right leader for this program have to give him props for these moves. He pushed all his chips in and bet on himself for the turn around. Have to respect that. Now let's see some results.

Eases the stress on JP as well. It’s going to a scary rush

Let’s hope. Think he’s ok. 2019 stats:
21-29 that’s 72%. He was 6-11 from 30-39 yds out. That’s not impressive at all...hope he has a better year in 2020...

Last year a big time QB (Martell) and a big time DE (Hill) were brought in via the portal. Results? 6-7.

Maybe this time around it will work out.

you just have to nail the evaluations but the principle remains the same. Manny failed in hiring an OC that highlighted the offense he initially was envisioning. Martell was fool's gold with little to offer but hype. Same with Enos. The defense as already mentioned worked out in terms of qb sack production and overall was not the real problem of the team.

He finally got his OC and a qb with proven production that actually fits the offensive philosophy he should have stayed with. Who knows? Martell in a Lashlee system may have even been serviceable.

Oh, and he also addressed the kicking issues. As bad as things were last year overall, how many games we pull out of our @ss with a competent field goal kicker?

No excuses next season!

Wrong. Hill was not a big time DE. He was good but not big time nor anywhere close to being at the same level as Roche.

Tate was a big time and productive HS qb. He got beat out by better qbs at OSU. He came here hoping to be productive but Enos fvcked him and our other qbs. Tate would flourish in a spread but I think he needs to go to another school for an opportunity. King was not a big time HS qb but in the right system in college at Houston flourished and became big tme and productive

You cannot compare them.

I’m super excited about King, but one question haunts me: can the receivers get separation and get open? Based off last years tape, doesn’t look too promising. Hoping something is different with that unit this year.
