OT: Duffy's

It's absolutely Heartbreaking whats happening in the Restaurant trade...all over Fl landmarks are on the verge of collapse...
I can't begin to tell you what its done to Culinary workers...especially degreed Chefs....add an absolute archaic Unemployment System and it's even more Heartwrenching...

It is sad. You can't forced public dependent businesses to close off most of their cash flow and expect much else. We can only hope that the location will end up reopening, probably under new ownership, with more favorable cost structure as to lease costs with consideration given to likely limitations on seats going forward.

Americans haven't lost the desire to NOT cook and also to be waited on with no clean up. The customers will be back. Talking heads are talking about "when it will be safe", but they still do not understand how USA works. It doesn't matter when it is safe or when we think it is safe, all that matter is why the people DECIDE to go back to doing whatever it is, like eating out. Individuals will do independent risk assessment risk vs "want to". If we "want" to more we are worried about, boom. The consumer calls the shots here regardless of what the talking idiots say.

I see Trumps keeps pushing the return of the old tax deductions for food and entertainment. That will help upper end of market. Money is our pockets will be the magic for downstream.

I can only imagine. It's an absolute disgrace that hospitality/culinary/nightlife workers (especially in a state like Florida) won't have a bigger voice in opposing the ending of that $600 unemployment supplement too. I'm definitely not trying to get political here but I just saw Larry Kudlow on tv parroting the nonsense that it's disincentivizing people in actually returning to work. And that doesn't even count the people that have given up unemployment to return to those jobs (if they're even still there) but at a fraction of their previous salary/tips.

All the while we hide the identities of businesses and the amounts of the federal taxpayer funded Coronavirus loans/bailouts.
I'm a big Trump supporter and things like this are part of the reason, he is not really a Republican. As usual, the stupid Republicans get cheap at the dumbest times. Sure, it is a disincentive but get a frigging clue. People are hurting. You can get them to go back to work easy. Just let them keep the $600 a week AND go back to work and keep pay too. What the **** is wrong with little guy getting a frigging break once in a while. Of course I bet the Dems would oppose it because all they want is more dependency. Neither party gives a crap about the Amercian people.

Heck I didn't notice your last hit. Yes, everything sould be out there on web site for us to see, including the law firms and banks that smoothed the way. I like to see list of donations from each of the companies, banks and law firms to the parties and individual politician.

No. They don't even want to leave the tri-county area. Their head guys always felt it would be hard to control quality if they branched further out. (and I agree)

As it is right now, Jimmy Flanigan and the other higher-ups can (and do) pop-in to various stores periodically. They're known for just showing up. I've actually seen Jimmy Flanigan walk into a store and put his name on the wait list. The **** owner of the company on a wait list for a table. Dude is humble like that. I've also seen him sit at the bar, completely incognito.

They prefer to keep their stores within easy driving distance so that they can pop-in at any time. And they do, a lot. The employees will tell you that.

Trust me, I begged them to open a location on the West Coast of FLA when I was living over there. It would've been a smash hit IMO.
Flani's has been blessed by good employees. A lot of them came from the Hialeah store from the early 90s. Shelly had a hand on the 12th st., weston, and so on. When your employees are happy it helps.

I will say that about Flannys...you don't meet too many people that are there but absolutely hate their gig. Everyone is mad friendly and the vibe is always good.

When I was getting my drink on years ago , I use to meet customers at The Ale House on Kendall Drive. It was like Cheers there everyone had nick names like judge , cowboy , milkman and so on we had assigned seats and we would solve all the worlds problems.
Those lady bartenders had it made and they were AWESOME.
We'd start off with Coors then make a shift to rum and coke doubles and they would reload us with the slightest of hands never running out of refreshments.
Boy when they did a shift change THAT'S when the BIG TIPS flowed they took care of us and we did them , they would even know when to tell us when and to apply FISH DIP and crackers and Conch chowder.

It ended bad for my friend real bad JAIL so I took the hint and never went back , great memories with great friends WHOM YOU NEVER KNEW THERE NAME.
