Agree with everything you wrote Rellyrell. But it’s still a quality class. Given all the **** shows, it’s nice to at least have the talent to be in a position to win.
No doubt; which makes the 6-7 season more head scratching.
Let’s be real my g; Miami ain’t never been hurting for talent. On paper, we’ve been the 3rd most talented team in the whole ACC for the past, at least, 7 yrs running. Like @Liberty City El said (and I’ve noticed we’ve been on the same wave length for a minute now), talent hasn’t been our problem, coaching has. We got the parts, and someone said it best: Shannon, Golden, now Diaz have all been given a 1st yr coach boost. Richt is an exception, b/c his first yr class was #12, but after that 10 win season, the class of 18 was #8.
Shannon:
2007 5-7
2008 #1 recruiting class (best ranked class)
Golden:
2011: 6-6 (w sanctions)
2012: #10 recruiting class (best ranked class)
Diaz:
2019: 6-7
2020: #13 recruiting class
So it’s not unusual for a team to chit the bed here, and then the following season we bring in a nice class on paper. I think we’ve been so numb to chit, we forget chit. So I’m just reminding everyone, b/c I hate to see this vicious cycle of hyping up off season moves, when we have a history of the moves not working b/c of the head guy. Not being a party pooper v. throwing caution to the wind w threads like these. Hopefully, and I like I said b4, I would love to be pleasantly surprised.
