I hope this is a lesson

The best backs in the NFL are not only from Florida.

It's about allocating resources.

Florida backs are more likely to pick Miami. There are five times as many Florida backs in the Top 15 than any other state. Three of the top four backs in the ACC this year were from South Florida. That's where we need to focus.

Agreed, but this was not a strong year for Florida at the position. And White committed to fsu like a year ago and never waivered. We offered Davis like 8 months before Gators but he committed to them within a week of getting an offer. Offered Bennett in 2015, but not sure what happened there and whether he had interest or he was lost in the shuffle between staffs. Point is there weren't many kids in state this year that were highly touted at the position compared to other years. So hopefully this does not signal a philosophy of the coaching staff, but demonstrates they are willing to go out of state for talent when necessary. Only time will tell.

Im sorry D but i gotta disagree you go after the best players period no matter where they are from

Wrong. Miami should never have to recruit a running back from out of state. You can find a great running back from the state of Florida every year. It's not that f*cking difficult if you just put some effort into it.

This thread is nonsense. So you don't recruit Adriuan Peterdson cuz he's from Texas?

You do everything you can to sign him.

You just cover your *** by having a local back up plan.

More importantly this is a lesson about bags. YOU MUST PAY TO PLAY.

Honestly I think this goes for WR and DB too

No reason we should ever leave FL for either RB or WR or DB

No reason to go after Jeff Thomas???

Insert dopey orangutan pic.

There were plenty of WR's in sofla we coulda got, we just didn't land them

We land jeudy we aren't going to MO for playmakers

Even if we landed Jeudy, we'd take Thomas and Smith in a heartbeat.

But using your "logic," isn't losing Jeudy a "reason" to go after OOS stud WRs.

Regarding DBs, I can think of several good reasons we went after Ed Reed.

So cam akers, leonard fournette, mcaffery are all trash because they arent from florida yea dude they are horrible

Kid made a mistake...on top of that I think we dodged a bullet cause he legitimately seems like a weirdo.

If you're going to miss on anything, RB is the least painful. This class is going to solidify our O-Line, Secondary, and WR positions so I'm fine with it.

Its fine that other running backs are good...but why chase them when you have players that are right outside your doorstep.

Dalvin Cook was better than Fournette. The odds of Robert Burns being just as good, if not better than Cam Akers is higher than anyone would give the discussion credit for. Its not bias when the amount of data that supports the strength of the position in this region is so high. WR, RB, DBs...seriously...why go anywhere else? Resource allocation and cost-benefit-analysis say, just recruit down here. Maybe a back from Tennessee or Maryland or Virginia rates a little higher on our board...is it worth the flights, the local nonsense you dont have your finger on the pulse of, the time and dedication it takes to keep that relationship with an OOS kid in good standing. I would say no...Thomas Brown and Coach Richt thought differently this cycle. I think they learned their lesson.

Ok? Which RB was worth a dam this year in Florida? You get the best players no matter where they are

This was Browns guy for years and he got left at the altar.

No matter how you spin it, Mac was elite and would have anchored the team whenever he would get promoted as the starter. Unless Burns can get over his injury problems than this becomes an issue. If we don't close in 2018 for an elite RB we are ****ed. If people are convincing themselves this isn't a big deal then they don't want to be elite. You have to stack chips.

We need at least 2 major RB recruits next year. Have to have them.

losing recruiting battles to ****ING MARYLAND. no excuses.

Cant fault the staff at all for this when all of a sudden the kid has Maryland love in a day

I know but still. It sucks to be mentioned with Maryland let alone lose a good one to them.

The kid made a mistake he will find out soon, lets sit back watch us clean up whos left

truth brother
