Don't want Mario, boatraced by Utah?

People have been rooting for Mario to lose all week so he could be available at the end of season. When he did lose now he isn't good enough. Never change CIS.

Since Coker the only other coach we've had to win a p5 conference or division is Richt. Same goes for winning a NY6 bowl. Can Mario win a natty? Idk, but there are only 4 other active coaches who have won it. People are idiots if they think Mario doesn't represent a significant upgrade to what we've had. I think either him or kiffen gives us a better chance than we've had in a long time.

I get it. I just happen to see the meltdown from friends up that way every year. If Wisconsin was not so inept game one, Franklin would have been on the hot seat. I also wonder if he is also a “is he going to jump guy” that we are worried about vs. long timer here —but I don’t really care about that…. If they are good enough to get stolen because of success here, then we will be fine.

100%

And whoever we hire needs to be held accountable.

I want systemic change.

I want a coach who has never lost a game.
It wasn’t like it was OT loss to 23. It was a blowout. That has to pause any objective reviewer. Most of just want the best man for the job. We have no idea who that is. But

Stroud is a redshirt freshman. After Caleb Williams, who in the country is starting and performing well as a true freshman?
We hear it all the time on this board that freshman play at other schools, even at QB. Oregon has a freshman 5 star, two COVID/RS freshman 4 stars, one of which was an early enrollee. Yet the “have a RB playing QB”…. Why?

No excuse for that loss last night but I will say this, recently, Mario has been dealing with a lot of stuff outside of Football and give kudos to having a successful season in spite of the distractions.

Mario’s Defense still needs a lot of work and they don’t have a QB; however, that being said, Oregon will be loaded next year.

It’s not about that and it’s a coward comment. You want a coach who can win and build back to a championship program but yet pine for a guy who CONSTANTLY loses to way less talented teams? Isn’t that the problem with the guys we’ve had?

What makes you think Mario can do any better than what he has shown?
He doesn’t “constantly lose.” He usually wins. That’s why his career at Oregon looks like this:

2018: 9-4 (inherited a 7-6 team)
2019: 12-2 (won Rose Bowl, Top 5)
2020: 4-3 (weird Covid year, Pac12 champ)
2021: Incomplete. 9-2 with three games left.

Mario is not the same candidate he was in 2018. He’s won a lot of games and built a consistent recruiting power.

Is he the best candidate? Who knows. There are a lot of names with upside.

But there is a reason Mario would be so expensive. And it’s not because he has Miami ties.

If he didn't have Miami ties, he wouldn't even be in the top 5.

Do not want Mario.. but will take him if it means opening up the purse and getting rid of manny. Right now I'll pull my pants down just because Miami wants to get serious about athletics. That commitment is what matters most to me. Spending more money will come with greater expectations, and that combination should eliminate hires like Coker, Shannon, Golden, and Manny. The upside down U wielding **** boi teams in the corstal need to be curb stomped back into basketball schools.

Nick Saban. Nothing less. They'll also only date Halle Berry circa 1998, and I guess just jerk off a lot.
This is just crap. There are legitimate reasons to be concerned. Like the fact that he's 8-8 in Pac 12 road games now. If he was hired by Miami tomorrow he would be a coach that had every advantage in the world at his previous stop and is no better than a 50/50 proposition to win a road game in a terrible conference.

Because I'm assuming the other kids are not ready. They have played Thompson some and he hasn't looked all that great. He'll be the guy next year. If they beat the Beavs, I am very interested in the conference rematch against Utah. That will tell me a lot.

Van Dyke looked lost in his few snaps against Alabama when they were playing their 2s and 3s. He looked lost in the first half against Virginia and North Carolina. Takes time to settle in.

Interestingly enough back to Caleb Williams. He has looked pedestrian the last 2 weeks. Nice runner, but he'll get murdered in the playoffs if Oklahoma makes it.

I’m for either Lane or Mario, and I get the argument against Mario, in that he’s loses games that he shouldn’t lose. But the way I see it, it’s hard for any team to go 15-0. And in almost every season there’s an example of an elite team having a loss against a team they shouldn’t have loss to. But if the overall goal is to build a team that can go head to head with Clemson in terms of talent vs talent in the ACC championship to have a chance at CFP. I think Cristobal can build that team. He’s still like 7-3 against ranked teams during his tenure at Oregon.

With that 2019 team he inherited a stud QB and a defense that held eight opponents under 15 points.

He hasn’t come close to duplicating either success. I’m not anti Mario but ignoring the weekly dogfights with inferior teams and this most recent blowout loss is just crazy.

He might be able to build that team but his resume suggests on the cusp of playing Clemson for a chance at the CFP he'd lose at Virginia two weeks before the title game.

Crazy right! They went back to calling for Rattler!

TVD has taken his lumps. Still learning. Work in progress. Got lucky on two bad ones yesterday, whew!

Agreed. If they lose to Oregon State, that would be a debacle. I want to see a rematch and a win in that game.
