“If I went to that program I would never lose a game. They get the best athletes.” - Mike Leach

Said it in the other thread

Posters getting hyped about a dude who would have been a gem hire in 2007

He's a good coach. Nobody expected him to go 12-0. Its his first year Mississippi State, a team that went 6-7 last year. They perennially have top 30 recruiting classes. Nothing special. Still impressive what they did to #6 LSU last week. They weren't supposed to win that game.

We'll never know what the Pirate could do with the top 10 classes Miami pulls in, though the thought has always been intriguing. Wish the Pirate nothing but the best. GO CANES!!

Impressive that he beat an LSU team that Lost 19 starters including 5 1st rounders??

That was literally the worse loss by an SEC coach in three years, because that's the last time Arkansas won an SEC game. October of 2017. And btw, he inherited a 6-7 program (which is the same record he had at WSU last year), not some hopeless 2-10 program that went 0-8 in conference... like Arkansas. Who again, beat him, in Starkville.

And of course he lost at home, because that's Mike Leach. Mike Leach is the definition of fools gold and there is always a desperate, ****** school with a ****** football program in nowheresville that will pop up once a decade and take a risk on him because of the allure of points and a pass-happy offense.

Here are other teams, besides 0-20 in the SEC Arkansas, that Mike Leach has lost to while head coach of a Power-5 program:

East Carolina
Kansas
New Mexico
Colorado State
Rutgers
Nevada
FCS school Portland State (honestly I didn't know they had a football team or even existed until Leach lost to them. At home).
Eastern Washington
Air Force

Let's not forget that in his last year at WSU he had a LOSING record including a .333 winning percentage in a weak Pac-10.

Let's also not forget he was suspended and then FIRED from Texas Tech for inappropriate treatment of his players and for insubordination. Leach tried to sue Texas Tech and was laughed out of multiple courts all over Texas.

Let's not forget that his idiotic re-tweet of a doctored tin-foil hat political video cost WSU $1.6M in donations. There was of course suggestions of racism discussed that have always followed him everywhere. He not only tweeted the conspiracy theory, but then argued with people online that pointed out that it was a hoax and kept going. Like a loon.

And of course, this leads us to MISS ST. where before even coaching a game, he outraged many of his players and the entire African-American community by tweeting a meme of a woman knitting a noose. A NOOSE. IN MISSISSIPPI.

There is a reason no legitimate program or school wants anything to do with him. He's had three major jobs, and has embarrassed himself and his University at each stop.

Look at his three jobs and you will see they all have the same things in common:

They are all academically inferior, rural universities (Lubbock, Pullman, Starkville) with bottom-dwelling football programs that are absolutely desperate to do anything to try to compete after having failed over and over to win, and they can't draw top coaching talent because they don't have much to offer.

It's funny to see dumb-*** fans of real schools and football programs that think any legitimate President or AD would hire him. But then again, the world needs ditch-diggers too, I guess.

"Within the college athletics industry, he is widely regarded as a ticking time bomb of embarrassment."

They also weren't supposed to lose to Arkansas. Leach fans love to focus on his erratic "impressiveness" and completely forgive his losses as if they don't exist.

Leach also wouldn't pull top 10 classes here. You think he beats Kirby for James Williams or Dan Mullen for Leonard Taylor?

LSU lost again. I'm here to eat my crow. Carry on.

Is he 1-3 now?

Since LSU, Leach's offense only averaging 10 points per game

Ouch.
Yeah but he’s literally played the greatest defenses of all time his first 4 games....

/s

Leach is married to his scheme and his own legend. His opposition could put 11 cornerbacks on the field lined up 20 yards deep and he wouldn’t run the ball.

They're not bad, as is evidenced by the Tenn game.
Yeah but Mike Leach is a god according to so many on this site. The point is Mike Leach was exposed as a one trick pony who will throw players under the bus at the first time there is adversity. He did that after only 2 weeks in the SEC. Just like he was exposed years ago at his previous job by any defensive coach with any coaching ability and talent on their roster.
