Who would have thought that the rise of Canedom would include the resurgence of Ferman? 😂

seem there is a soft spot for him from the old school canes. He's featured on Lamar Thomas' show

That's fair. No offense taken by me. None of what you are saying actually contradicts the information read in that article. You are just providing more context to it which is appreciated.

I read, however, in the Feldman article that it was Mario or bust. If it had not worked out there were no back up plans to fire Manny.

Gino is from the world of financial advisement and wealth management. That probably involved dealing with the hyper affluent, managing egos, and pointing them in the right direction. His company is based in Palm Beach which is in top 10 of the wealthiest towns in Florida.

Must have prior AD experience, bro. Don't leave that out.

And there is no rule that says prior AD experience will make you a successful AD either. I think ideally you want the whole shebang. So I don't dispute prior AD experience is not important. Just that it's not the most important thing.

Ok...so are you saying donors would hate Gino as AD?

I think we've made the rounds on this already. The horse has been beaten to death as well as the occasional straw man. I am not sure where you are getting that I am advocating "layers of bureaucracy" or favor an AD to be advised by people "with less experience". You are making this up as you go...

I get that. But some of you guys think that organizational, financial, interpersonal skills, etc. can't transfer over to different departments or companies. As AD you are still managing personnel, doing marketing, running a budget, etc. These are not particular to sports management.

Why not? A lot of this imo is not about what you know, it's who you know. If you know people whose knowledge and expertise in certain areas you trust you can make those decisions in areas not in your wheel house.

We can agree on that. But I am not going to rule out a guy simply because he played football and got a degree here. That's dumb. He does have apparent leadership and communication skills, can manage money effectively, and being a CEO of a broadcasting company I assume has organizational skills...

He also served as a Senior Financial Advisor at Wachovia and is VP of an asset management company based in Palm Beach. Got his business admin degree at Miami and of course was a successful college football player and leader of an NC team at Miami. Played in the NFL for 4 years. These are all...

Miami is still the same "show me" city it was back then. Build an entertaining and winning product and seats will be filled and there will be enthusiasm. We are a brand as much as we are a program. UM is not located in a college town with a college atmosphere like Tuscaloosa. We are in a pro...

if that's the case it doesn't matter who you put in charge. I am not one of those that excludes a candidate simply for having played football or gotten his degree at Miami. That doesn't make sense to me. What we need is a guy that understands football and would also understand how a...
