Still scratching my head why Cristobal wouldn’t just hire an OC with similar philosophies as Lashlee!! Too much of a setback to go with Gattis offense style. A great offense can help a subpar defense. They can’t both suck..

For all the ones licking Lashlee's **** what were you saying when we'd play a decent team with a pulse and his offenses looked as sh*tty as Gattis's offense. While I'm not thrilled with what Gattis has done I can get what Mario was trying to do. This team needed to be more physical if we are going to compete with the Bama's, Georgia's, and Clemson's of the world. Unfortunately, that's difficult to do in one year. In addition, it's more difficult to do with the type of offenses Lashlee runs as well.

We would easily be 4-0 right now with “2021” offensive style no doubt!! They would be giving all the props to Mario!! We will never have Alabama’s oline ever!! Prostyle power football days at Miami are 100% over!! We need moving parts, quick hitters, and running 80 plays a game!!

Do you think our fan base down here is going to give any coach time to even think they can get Bama and Georgia recruits down here to run a power offense you’re crazy!! You have to have a résumé that’s fairly recent like winning, college atmosphere, and fans support every game!! Unfortunately most of us Miami fans Don’t evolve just like our coaches and we live in the past!!

Well, much like a lot of society a lot of our fans are impatient, needs instance gratification, and are dumb asses. Just being honest. The guy is four games in with multiple injuries to his team. Cut him some **** slack. I actually wanted Lane, but Mario was the guy. Lets see how his team finishes out the season.

I mentioned that in a thread a while back but @Cribby said Cristobal didn't make an offer, so Candle didn't decline as was reported. However, so far no one has debunked the reports that they actually did meet to talk about the UM OC job. Can only speculate as to why no offer was made, one rumor is that Candle wanted to bring his entire offensive staff and Mario said no. IMO, the only coach that Mario should have said was non negotiable on offense is Mirabal, but only because the OL recruits seem to really like him. Besides him, the rest of the staff isn't worth keeping if it means no Candle.
Ever since most of Matt Campbell’s guys all graduated at the end of the 2017 season, Candle has stunk as an HC. Hasn’t won more than 8 games since and all his teams underperform. If Mario said no to his demand, if the demand was true, great call by him. That Toledo staff sucks at recruiting.

Mario’s supposed first choice at OC was Jason Candle (HC at Toledo). Hopefully he revisits that this offseason because the school president and AD who hired Candle are gone and the new AD refused to give Candle a contract extension this past off season.
I read on some other thread that the reason the candle hire fell through is because JC wanted to bring his own staff but Cristobal wanted his guys (aka Mirabel and Ponce).

Simply replacing Flagg/Steed for Chase/Wesley allows us to have more two-deep coverages. I'd prefer they move JW0 to star and get Blades or TS2 at free with 24 at SS. Let's see what Graves, Porter, and Curtis can do since we know Ivey isn't cutting it.

Yeah!! I’m just simply saying the easiest part of his job would’ve been keeping the offensive coordinator very similar to last years scheme!! Would’ve made everybody else’s job easier as far as coaches and players and I guarantee we would be 4-0! And we would of crushed A&M with their three true freshman cornerbacks playing the WHOLE entire game.. It’s just frustrating that these guys come in making millions of dollars and they are to **** stubborn and end up making it harder..

All these coaches forgot how to coach at UM? Or we need a revamped talent infusion. It’s one or the other pick a side

To butt in, Mario and Gattis didn’t forget their tendencies and that’s what scares the **** out of us….

And need more talent… all the talent…

It can't be all of these coaches, every time.

This isn't like Al Golden or Manny Diaz or Randy...this isn't a first time HC or in the P5...this staff is loaded with dudes that have won national titles, conference titles, played in championship scenarios. Many times over. The head man NEVER lost to a G5 team in the regular season at Oregon (I qualified it because he lost to a Top 25 Boise as an interim in the bowl game). Josh Gattis put 40 on Stockstill 3 years ago and won with Shea ******* Patterson.

4 games in and this staff takes an L to MTSU?

Alright now...wtf...

In fairness, Gattis' resume was there. No one saw this coming. He had been at Bama and had seemingly run a productive offense at Michigan and he won the Broyles to boot. It was a homerun hire then. Now? Not so much. But at the time it was widely lauded by everyone as a homerun.

People just repeat nonsense they hear or read other places.

Bryce Young has a very high football IQ and Bill O'Brien runs a complex offense.

Bama simply has the horses to run it, a quarterback who can execute and route-running receivers who can get open and catch the football.

Miami does not.

Point of fact:

The Bill O'Brien Alabama offense is basically a pumped up version of the Chan Gailey system, with a few modifications for the college game. It takes advantage of wider hashes and downfield blocking and RPO actions that Chan used when he went back and forth between college and the NFL. He did use some of the josh mcdaniels concepts when he was with the texans, which can be a bit complicated, but you don't see that full on in the alabama offense he's been running the past couple of years. It's basically Chan, the modified and updated college version.

It's actually no more complicated than the Gattis offense, and in some aspects, even less so. it only looks that way.

@DMoney donyiu think ponce takes over play calling or that gattis changes the offense somewhat?? Have you heard anything about them trying to fix it ??

I’m more on the talent aspect of it, things always look better with ole Miami type players or in the modern era.....bama OSU UGA talent

Those guys all have elite elite scheme/coaching on one or both sides of the ball to go with it.

There's more than one reason why those three are WAY in front of the pack.

If one of those three are coached mediocrely theyre going to get beat by one of the other 3-5 teams at that talent level.
