Also, I was a defender of Knowles when it was unpopular and now I guess I’m a critic when it’s unpopular. But even the new improved version seems a step too slow both against FSU (but the ball was thrown behind the receiver so he was able to make the play) and especially vs UL.

I worry about our speed at defense. We really miss Bolden. Need more blazers across the board in the back 7, especially at LB and S.

p.s. who’s the criminally negligent recruiter who failed to offer Atwell? It burns me up he’s not a Cane.

lack of speed and overall athleticism isn’t there without bubba bolden. Want to see Keontra smith play more because he brings those qualities we need there

Is Jarren’s shoulder soreness a lingering effect from injury earlier in the season? I am a little concerned about his long-term health in the shoulder.

he's been beat up this season. i'm guessing it will linger the rest of the year unfortunately- hopefully it doesn't get worse. but i doubt it'll be long term, he should be able to get healthy over the offseason.

It was concerning to see Miami D give up big chunk plays early in contest.

Rare occasion where Miami O bailed out the defenders by keeping pace with score.

I agree, Bolden seemed to add some speed to the secondary when he was in there.

Sure it's the SaMe OfFeNse DAwG but he wasn't as under center.. rarely used 12 set.. didn't feature a full back, never ran 13 set, all red zone touchdowns were from shotgun, had a #2 wr outside the hash, had 20 set two halfback personnel, and seemed to be even more reliant on the rpo this week.

The scary part is that we still have not seen the whole offense! There are so many different combos and options that we will see in the future.

All the RPOs ran out of those particular formations really did remind me of last years Bama offense. Williams was working those RPO slants/posts just like Tua did. I loved the shotgun two RB look and the shotgun pistol look as well. Seemed like everything worked from those sets.

Some misfit gaps this week.
Some miscommunication.
Literally saw an example where a 3 play scoring drive was highlighted by giving up the EXACT same play twice.

And let's not kid ourselves. They have incredible amounts of speed on that team. No ofense to our guys but their qb hb and tutu combo was the fastest I saw on film all year. Qb was faster than any of ours. Rb looked faster than ours. And tutu was the fastest guy on the field

yep. sometimes, the other guys make plays too. I thought their running game was by far the best we've seen all year.

that being said, I thought our gap integrity was awful, and we (the L B's and Striker), did a **** poor job at times of breaking down in gaps, Too many overruns.

That long TD to Atwell was completely on Gilbert.

We are in man. You can see Bandy and Ivey staying with the #1s and Shaq chasing the RB. Gilbert starts to pick up Atwell


Gilbert should have stayed with Atwell but left him open to chase the #2 coming from the field side leaving Atwell wide open


This where Gil knew he f’ed up. Everyone is attached or focused on their man. Gil stops and his eyes immediately went to Atwell because he knows that was his man...

It’s a simple game what the defense will give you. Speed and spacing make the plays bigger, when a mismatch of athletic ability is exposed.

I watch a ton of football every week.....one thing that's been really encouraging to me is Miami is starting to look -- dare I say it -- well coached on the offensive side of the ball. I never in a million years thought I could even dream of typing that sentence about 6 weeks ago, but you have to admit it. There have been VERY few illegal formations, pre-snap penalties, confusion, delay of games, illegal motions, miscommunications.....and Miami runs MULTIPLE formations and personnel packages. Guys are getting into and out of the game, there's not a lot of pre-snap panic, people are lined up correctly, we seem to be running the right routes for the most part, the line looks to be much improved if in no other area than their communication and cohesion.

I'm not saying we should throw a ticker-tape parade or anything...there's still a long way to go here and we all know that. But it's encouraging, at least. The first few weeks it looked very much like an offense that was struggling to find an identity and was very confused and unsure of itself. Free rushers, penalties, confusion, burning timeouts in inopportune times....the first few weeks looked like we didn't even practice. And while I won't say it now looks like a well-oiled machine, with how loudly the crying was on here that everyone should be fired immediately in September, you have to at least say it looks like the coaches have some semblance of a clue and the kids are really improving on at least the building-blocks level. Very encouraging to see.

The pistol formation to me is the perfect storm - has all the visibility advantages of the shotgun, and allows your TB to start North/South rather than East/West so you can run more power-based concepts in the ground game. Especially love it with the RPO game, just seems to have more efficient timing in addition to the downhill start for the back. Glad to see that we are using it more often.

Agreed, BUT the way Jarren and his WRs (Harley and Wiggins) we’re executing it was as good as it could get. That’s why I said it reminded me of last year’s Bama cause it looked like I was watching Tua throw to Juedy. Still blown away watching Wiggins run by that DB so fast that he lost sight of him. The route running has been executed at a high level too.
