It will be nine narrated clips this week including ALL SIX record breaking passing touchdowns by Jarren Williams. Miami played easily it's most complete game by far on the offensive side of the ball and this was a fun week to sit atop the perch. Here are some takeaway points from the game.

  • Jarren Williams was very quick in his decisions this week and has a developed a nice handle on the offense
  • Williams sense of the pocket and little innate quarterbacking nuance led to some big plays this week (Highlighted in the videos)
  • Williams was 15-22 for 253 including 6 passing touchdowns
  • Williams once again shows a fine affinity for the post pattern and threw two more for touchdowns this week
  • Miami scored last week on an over/post combo, it did it again this week with Wiggins being the recipient both times
  • Miami's screen game has been effective all year and once again led to a passing touchdown
  • Mike Harley was exceptional this week at finding the open area
  • Offensive line play has been improving week to week and you can make the claim it once again improved this week
  • Miami allowed only one sack (Zion credited for the sack allowed-Bull rush plus a hand move) (Played well otherwise)
  • Miami's offense only allowed 6 negative plays on the day (Miami's defense amassed 14)
  • AT 50% (5-10) By far the most effective day on 3rd down conversions vs. a P5 opponent
  • Miami protected well and were accurate on throws on third down attempts
  • Miami averaged 6.2 yards a rush highlighted predominantly by power run game (Mixed a little zone runs in 2nd half)
  • Miami actually gave up more yardage (496) than they gained (449)
Going to list the record breaking passing touchdowns by formation and type: (Take what you will from this)
  1. Under center back side screen to Dallas utilizing Jet sweep motion to sell a heavy run strength to the boundary
  2. Shotgun Pistol/bunch play action deep post to Wiggins
  3. Shotgun 20 set personnel RPO slant to Wiggins
  4. Shotgun 3rd and long touchdown on a roll out to Mallory
  5. Shotgun RPO slant to Harley (Harley was spread just outside the hash)
  6. Shotgun 3rd an long touchdown on a post to Harley vs a Tampa two

The post against cover 2 with a lb in coverage... oh baby

Crushed it. Once again I'll say this again. When Malik Rosier told me personally jarren threw one of the prettiest posts he'd ever seen, he wasn't apparently lying. That's 4 touchdowns on the old 8 route in two weeks

And when you consider the other Harley td was almost bang 8 variety (manny calls them slants) jarren really loves that route.

He also fit that in as Harley was approaching the back end zone boundary and the field side strong safety was coming towards him. So jarren had to put touch to get it over the sinking backer, have enough juice to beat the strong safety and the timing to give Harley room in the end zone. Elite throw

jarren has the most arm talent of any QB to come here in awhile. no disrespect to guys like kaaya and morris, who were solid college QBs in their own right, but they just aren’t capable of some of the dimes jarren’s been dropping. the anticipation and placement on that 6th TD to harley was just gorgeous. and the kids a redshirt frosh

So.... shotgun?

I mean...I can't ignore the fact that Miami's under center screen game is dirty. Multiple td's on the year.

But let's not pretend that Miami didn't just set the school passing record with a qb who was in the gun 5 out of 6 times.

Including two shotgun RPO'S
A spread out outside the hash Harley on a post
A gun rollout to Mallory as the qb got flushed
A gun pistol pa bomb to Wiggins (bunch was tight)

Those variety of calls were more the bama offense not the Arkansas Miami vs central Michigan one.

Thanks, Roman. Great, great stuff.

I‘m particularly impressed by JW’s maturity in adjusting during the play ( eg, ignoring the rusher on the Wiggins TD; pump faking and adjusting the throw on the screen pass to DeeJay for a TD). 15 catches for 6 TDs. Never heard of that ratio.

Some of that record-setting was due to us running the same RPO slant and Louisville for whatever reason refusing to adjust to it. Kudos to Enos for sticking with it but **** how many times can you get burned on the same play?

Williams flashed elite skills at times. That gun rollout was awesome to see, among many incredible throws and runs.

I'll admit, I worried he was backsliding on several occasions in the second half. He held on too long for that one sack when Pope was wide open underneath, for example. Also threw the ball a few times either behind his receiver or right at a defender. Should have been picked at least twice. A better defense makes him pay for those MEs.

But we still would have won with how well he played overall. Lot's of upside left to go for him with Enos as his QB Coach. Kid could be special before he leaves Miami.

@Roman Marciante We know you are a busy man. But do you have any on the defense as why they constantly get gashed? Is it being in the wrong defense or do our players miss a few assignments?

if not, appreciate the videos anyway.

I’m pretty sure he was hurt at that point in the game. Early-mid third quarter he got banged pretty bad. After that he didn't quite seem the same. His passes where off and he got slow on the release. Happens sometimes.
