Williams flashed elite skills at times. That gun rollout was awesome to see, among many incredible throws and runs.

I'll admit, I worried he was backsliding on several occasions in the second half. He held on too long for that one sack when Pope was wide open underneath, for example. Also threw the ball a few times either behind his receiver or right at a defender. Should have been picked at least twice. A better defense makes him pay for those MEs.

But we still would have won with how well he played overall. Lot's of upside left to go for him with Enos as his QB Coach. Kid could be special before he leaves Miami.

I’m pretty sure he was hurt at that point in the game. Early-mid third quarter he got banged pretty bad. After that he didn't quite seem the same. His passes where off and he got slow on the release. Happens sometimes.

ESPN tallked about it on the broadcast. Olivia Dekker heard the conversation between JW and the staff

I think he pushed through pretty well. He didn't throw nearly as much, though. It's a good thing we have a bye...

I have a love/ hate relationship with the 2x2 tight mesh pick plays (or rub routes if they do not get caught).
Being more of a defensive guy I wish they called the offense for the pick plays.
When we run it though we can be very effective and I hope they do not call it.
Seems like people here love the air raid and OU type offenses and they seem to run that play as a base offensive staple more than anything which I think becomes a bit boring. I am glad we mix it in and run other multiple formations.

I like Pistol and it can come in handy beating these inferior teams that like to stack the box. Hope it continues for the rest of the year.

Also the Two HBs in the Backfield formation with the RPOs is something many of us have been clamoring for for months now. We can see much more out of similar formations with the two tailbacks like Bama used in the OBC last Winter to great success. The Backs can go in motion and be used as WRs and decoys in motion to open up misdirection eventually.

I saw One pass in the flats where he could have been picked. The other he was hit as he was throwing the ball to pope

@Roman Marciante We know you are a busy man. But do you have any on the defense as why they constantly get gashed? Is it being in the wrong defense or do our players miss a few assignments?

if not, appreciate the videos anyway.

I watch the defense too. Credit Louisville they run an aggressive zone style system that has chunked up many acc foes this year. They average 212 a game.

Some misfit gaps this week.
Some miscommunication.
Literally saw an example where a 3 play scoring drive was highlighted by giving up the EXACT same play twice.

And let's not kid ourselves. They have incredible amounts of speed on that team. No ofense to our guys but their qb hb and tutu combo was the fastest I saw on film all year. Qb was faster than any of ours. Rb looked faster than ours. And tutu was the fastest guy on the field

Just a combination of many things this week.

I mean...I can't ignore the fact that Miami's under center screen game is dirty. Multiple td's on the year.

But let's not pretend that Miami didn't just set the school passing record with a qb who was in the gun 5 out of 6 times.

Including two shotgun RPO'S
A spread out outside the hash Harley on a post
A gun rollout to Mallory as the qb got flushed
A gun pistol pa bomb to Wiggins (bunch was tight)

Those variety of calls were more the bama offense not the Arkansas Miami vs central Michigan one.

You ever had neapolitan ice cream? It's called one thing. But if you eat all the way to the left it's chocolate or all the way to the right it's strawberry?

Sure it's the SaMe OfFeNse DAwG but he wasn't as under center.. rarely used 12 set.. didn't feature a full back, never ran 13 set, all red zone touchdowns were from shotgun, had a #2 wr outside the hash, had 20 set two halfback personnel, and seemed to be even more reliant on the rpo this week.

Sometimes I feel like most of the fans that post on this site need binoculars like that man.

Some of that record-setting was due to us running the same RPO slant and Louisville for whatever reason refusing to adjust to it. Kudos to Enos for sticking with it but **** how many times can you get burned on the same play?
My dad always said you run the same play until they stop it.

@Roman Marciante

Am I off in thinking that the pistol look seems pretty effective of late? Seems we can still run a pretty good PA set out of it, can we run the under center screen game from it as well??

Yes.

That's my point. I'm mocking the fans who have boiled the offense's improvement down to "the OL was young" instead observing the wholesale changes made to the offense the last couple weeks.

Great stuff Roman and I loved seeing our players give it back to Louisville by throwing up the upside down L

Is it just me or did our LBs outside of Shaq shoot the wrong gaps, and our strikers just disappear at times?

Also, I was a defender of Knowles when it was unpopular and now I guess I’m a critic when it’s unpopular. But even the new improved version seems a step too slow both against FSU (but the ball was thrown behind the receiver so he was able to make the play) and especially vs UL.

I worry about our speed at defense. We really miss Bolden. Need more blazers across the board in the back 7, especially at LB and S.

p.s. who’s the criminally negligent recruiter who failed to offer Atwell? It burns me up he’s not a Cane.
