We are a real program again

I’ll have more detailed thoughts after the rewatch, but all that matters to me is that we are a real program again. We were a joke for 20 years. These types of games were not competitive. Teams like Alabama were playing a different sport.

Now, we can play big-boy football with any team in the country. Alabama is dead. The sport is open. And we are a real program again.
We played a ND team with a freshman qb playing on the road and we still almost lost the game because of Mario ball. Hold your delusion until after the FSU game. We have them USF and Florida coming up

If anything, Mario knows if he can get away with it because he has a better defense than last season.

And to be honest, when has the tight end, played a factor in Shannon Dawson’s offense? Other than as an extra blocker.

Did you not watch arroyo and Mallory?

*** all you ****ers complaining about Mario and Dawson. We literally just took down a loaded ND team one year removed the the NC game. Yes some of the play calling was soft. However on that last drive they forced ND to use all their timeouts. Had Dawson called a pass play for Beck on that last MIA drive and an INT was thrown you saps would have been whining about the stupid play calling. Instead we get into FG position, nail a 47 yarder, go ahead and eventually win the game cause we drained clock and burned ND’s timeouts. So shut the **** up drink a patron shot and enjoy the win. It’s only going to get better from here on out.

Not with Shannon Dawson calling games like that. You need a reason top receivers don't sign on out of high school. It's starts and ends with how Shannon Dawson apparently chooses to call games like this. He's literally the only reason we didn't win by atleast 17. So boring and unimaginative his play calling was tonight. I get part of the reason is our young wr unit. But that doesn't excuse the constant diVes on first down, followed by some version of an intermediate route followed by off tackle to the right side over and over again. Once we ran out of our scripted plays for the first half he just called vanilla for the third and fourth qter. Don't wanna be a downer when we should be celebrating a big win. But putting our foot on they neck and snapping that **** is what top recruits wanna see. Not that mary Poppins **** we did keeping them in the game.
exactly !

Miami played a team that was in the national championship and was favored by Vegas and won.

They whipped them actually. A botched snap and a little conservative play calling away from being a double digit win in the first game of the year. I’ll take it.

Dam it bro 😭 @DMoney

The work you and your team do... we proud of yall man!

Edit: @Peter Ariz You too brotha-man!

The one thing I’d redo, is the kick after Bain’s INT. I would’ve gone for it. Even if it ended in a kick afterwards.

Getting stopped on that 3&1 changed the whole complexion of the game. I don’t hate that call. Our strength is the run game/OL. I’m calling a run 10/10 times on third and short with this team.
I think it was 3rd and 2

There is a ton of talent on this team and that ND team was loaded and very well coached. Most disappointed in Dawson TBH but Mario had them ready.
This is the fruit of so many off the field battles that have been won. Scott. Bain. Beck. The DB rebuild. Mauigoa. Bell. Toney. And many others. Some this offseason. Some three years ago.

Defense was nasty af at times. That final drive by Mesidor is going to be thing of legend. He beat his man and had Carr dead to rights on every down at multiple positions. Including their LT on the game winner.

Made money tonight. Pro film all over the place.

OL might be the best in the nation.

Marty Brown is very good. Maybe our best back if tonight is anything to project t long term.

Held the nations best back for less than a wrap at Pura Vida.

FAU Kicker got a leg.
I think our defense will improve once the younger guys start stepping up.

His 1st and 2nd down playcalling has been ****in me off since he got here. Like bro why are we consistently in 3rd downs

It’s ok to have some creativity in play design.

It will be interesting to see if anyone has the balls to argue with you on this

100% agree. All that chatter about Beck’s 24-3 record in the SEC in Miami can’t manage a first down after the opening second half touchdown draft. Not until the last minute field goal drive, which includes a 15-yard pass interference penalty on the Irish. Maybe Notre Dame adjusted and Dawson had no answer.

Nor is Miami signing top receivers out of high school unless we have a returning quarterback of note. Cam Ward was a gift from the football gods and I am so happy we have Carson Beck.

But if you’re an elite high school wide receiver or a top portal wide receiver this December your first and only question regarding Miami is going to be “who is the quarterback?”. There very well maybe be another worthy portal QB next year, but that can’t be the answer.

I am hoping Miami gets enough big leads in enough games to give Luke Nickel enough playing time and he proves he’s the real deal for 2026. I doubt this happens though because Emory will get those reps, handing off on more inside running.

Great win tonight. Beats losing.

And most people still thought ND was the better team. It’s about the way miami won the reason he is saying it not the score

The game was close because we went into a shell on offense. That has nothing to do with their QB being a freshman. It has everything to do with a new QB throwing to new receivers for only a few months now going against the best DBs they will face all season. I’m sure you would have wanted Dawson dialing up downfield shots all night and if one got picked I’m sure you would say, at least they tried.

Did you not watch arroyo and Mallory?
Arroyo was underused last season, although your point is taken.

Did Mallory play in Dawson’s offense or did he leave after the abysmal Mario year one? He wasn’t exactly an overwhelming offensive force, and yes, I am being a little sarcastic.

so real programs continuously blow 14+ point leads?

All the time against good teams.

ND was a team that was IN the national championship game last year, and is supposedly even more talented this year with the exception of having a green quarterback. Well coached teams like them don’t roll over and play dead when they are downa couple scores.

What has Miami done exactly over the last 20 years? I’d think the same thing. Obviously nice to get a W and it’s big step in the right direction.
They just didn’t know and didn’t understand. You have to be following the talent acquisition to at least in part get it.

As much as we wanted Miami transformed overnight, that wasn’t happening absent a $100M NIL budget (and even then? I don’t know if the requisite players were even there in the portal in 2022). This has been a methodological building process, with 2023 being the foundation and 2024 being the next level. There were huge holes all of the place on 2022. Those narrowed on 2023. They narrowed even more last year.

When Miami played Notre Dame in 2014 and were blown out, the talent level had so attracted that we barely had over twenty blue chip players. We had over 50 tonight - it’s the strongest roster on paper since the 2005 season. Watching the game with my kids tonight - I’m pointing out player after player tonight…this kids a blue chip. That running back from N Dakota State…blue chip. That giant offensive linemen (Bell)…top JUCO player. That WR Daniel’s…blue chip. My younger son asks about the defense line…three five star players.

Notre Dame fans think this is the underfunded, undermanned Miami team of the past.

It’s not. It grew up.

And it surpassed Notre Dame. Just like it did in the 1980s.
