We are a real program again

It’s a constant theme with Dawson though, always going into a shell while we have a comfortable lead. Every game outside of the Texas A&M game in 23, has the same results.. stalled offensive series, and it’s where we all shake our heads and ask why he does that. Yes, we had the #1 offense last year, but take Cam Ward out of the equation and what would it have been?? For what we have in Carson Beck, I would think he would let Beck do more than just hand it off, by the way our run game needs to be opened up, this running into a stacked ^ with condensed sets is irritating to watch. Especially, since we have the line we have. Don’t get me wrong, I am ecstatic we beat Notre Dame, they’re my most hated team followed by Florida and FSU, I just can’t stand those asshats. That said, this game should’ve been a comfortable win.

Very predictable bubbles as well first series in each half and scattered throughout. The lack of killer instinct has burned us before yet we haven’t learned.
Run variability would do this team wonders. Most tendency breaker runs we do call bust for good gains

I agree. It's annoying, but seems to be working.

Correct me if I am mistaken: Last season we ran between the tackles more than virtually any other team in the nation, and we were amongst the best to do it.

Having Ward slinging it certainly helped, but I don't see MC abandoning it.

That killer instinct you speak of, I want that so bad, he showed in the A&M game a couple years ago. Just seems they’re content with a 14 point lead and that’s when they go in the shell. Very mind boggling.

Funny. We've heard this at least 5 -7 times the past two decades. We are always "back" until something goes wrong and then the fans turn on the program. We've had what, two bowl wins in the past 23 years, and none in a game with any meaning.

I am happy we won for sure, but lets pump the brakes a bit. We play 3 teams in our state over the next five weeks. I think we will handle USF, then lets see how things go against UF at home and the Noles in October up in Trailer.
Hey it’s not a trailer!!! It’s a double wide.

My concern is for a potential playoff run. Is it going to work consistently vs elite comp? Other than that I don't mind it so much. The thing that gets me is that we rarely if ever seem to run a counter off of that tendency. In the Florida game last year we ran this delay counter off tackle play to Fletcher and he scored from about 10 yards out. I would like to see that again.

The difference is this year I think WE are the "elite comp". Not getting ahead of myself, but I've been following this program since '79 and Sunday night looked and felt different. I said to my buddy after the first few minutes of the game, we're winning this, this team looks different.

Ran 2nd most between the tackles and was top 5 in ypc

Oh I agree and Notre Dame was probably one of if not the best defenses we will face all regular season. I just wish we would run more stuff to counter off of that tendency.

The chance that the U is back is

I mean, I think it's pretty pretty good because that that is not some fraudulent phony Notre Dame team. That's a Notre Dame team that brought pretty much everybody back after finishing second in all of college football last year and upgraded at quarterback. I thought CJ Carr, I didn't think he played, you know, outstanding, 19 of 30. So, a decent decent game, two touchdown passes, but that was an upgrade over Riley Leonard. And I thought Miami's defense was outstanding. They held Jeremiah Love to three yards a carry. I mean, they they got Notre Dame off the field on third down. Notre Dame was 44% on third down.

But I I

felt like if I'm a Miami fan, I can walk out of that game going, "We got a chance. We got a chance to be back." Dude, my I want to give my guy JJ credit for this. You know what he said to me, Zack, on Twitter? He said, "If you look at the Miami roster up and down, it's a bunch of kids that Miami beat Ohio State for." @SonicYouth

That was a crazy bar. Like, when I see that, I'm like, ****, they might actually be back. I mean, you look f first of all, Malachi Toney, true freshman receiver from American Heritage. He was the kid that was the number two when Brandon Inis was a senior. He played early and looked really good. You look at therunning backs, it's Fletcher and it's Jordan Lyle. Those are two Ohio State misses. You look on defense, it's Lightfoot and them. Like, you go up and down this roster, Zach, and it's a bunch of Ohio State misses. For the first time, I'm sitting here, I'm like, ****, they might be back.

Like, when when

you look at when you look at Miami, here's the thing. If you want to be a good roster, when we look at evaluating rosters, we look at, okay, is your roster littered with kids who you beat Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State for? And I think now Miami's finally there.

Yeah, but we didn't beat Taint for THE guy.
