We are a real program again

Big, big win on the big stage. **** near the entire sports world watched our victory. It wasn’t pretty, but we got it done.

I had several friends convinced we would not be tough or physical enough to beat ND, and we proved them wrong.

Make no mistake, we beat a good team and our victory really hurt them. We have some things to clean up but we are in a good spot.

Bro stop. We can always nit pick. Yes Dawson crapped the bed at the end. But a poorly coached team just doesn’t win that game. We didn’t win by fluke. We outplayed them because we are well coached. It’s all the little things that I don’t have time to type.

I’d criticize if we had lost. But since it worked I have no complaints about the coaching.

I am happy Miami was able to manage a tough win against the top 10 opponent to open the season. A team that was the national championship runner up the prior year. Notre Dame is the best team the Canes will play all season, unless Miami qualifies for the playoffs.

All the chatter about Carson Beck’s two years of starting experience at the top of the SEC, yet Miami can’t sustain any drives after the second half opening TD drive? 23 total yards. I’m hoping this was a function of Notre Dame’s adjustments and talented defense. The Irish excel at holding in the secondary. This plus an inexperienced wide receiver room.

All I’m asking for is a little more creativity. And no more bubble screens, my God. I don’t know what Dawson and Mario’s fetish for those plays is but the only one I can remember breaking for a long gain was Colby Young from TVD two years ago, in the season opener against Miami of Ohio.

Fortunately, Miami managed a good kickoff return and a short drive (aided by a 15-yard penalty) for the game winning long field goal.

Kudos to Carter Davis. He bombed the game winner and it would’ve been good from 60 yards.

I am happy with the defense. Notre Dame has a good offensive line and was national championship runner-up for a reason. After nearly collapsing and losing in the game, the defense came out big on the last series after the field goal.

Let’s see how they play against a lesser team, but one with an experienced quarterback and a varied offense. Last year‘s defense looked pretty good last season against the Gators and we know how the defense ended.

I’ll have more detailed thoughts after the rewatch, but all that matters to me is that we are a real program again. We were a joke for 20 years. These types of games were not competitive. Teams like Alabama were playing a different sport.

Now, we can play big-boy football with any team in the country. Alabama is dead. The sport is open. And we are a real program again.
Not with Shannon Dawson calling games like that. You need a reason top receivers don't sign on out of high school. It's starts and ends with how Shannon Dawson apparently chooses to call games like this. He's literally the only reason we didn't win by atleast 17. So boring and unimaginative his play calling was tonight. I get part of the reason is our young wr unit. But that doesn't excuse the constant diVes on first down, followed by some version of an intermediate route followed by off tackle to the right side over and over again. Once we ran out of our scripted plays for the first half he just called vanilla for the third and fourth qter. Don't wanna be a downer when we should be celebrating a big win. But putting our foot on they neck and snapping that **** is what top recruits wanna see. Not that mary Poppins **** we did keeping them in the game.

Yeah that was disappointing. Hopefully they learn from this. Offense should get better as Beck gets more game reps. Played basically without Lyle and TE pretty much did nothing. Got the win though and no turnovers
If anything, Mario knows if he can get away with it because he has a better defense than last season.

And to be honest, when has the tight end played a factor in Shannon Dawson’s offense? Other than as an extra blocker.
