Bring Butch back ASAP best talent evaluator in the game yes even better than Saban!!!

.........AND SUCKED AS A BIG GAME COACH! LET'S NOT FORGET THE FACTS.

Butch was no JJ as a game day coach, but he had a darn good record while at UM.

51-20 with 5 top 20 finishes and 4-0 in bowl games.

Sign me up for a coach that can deliver those types of results.

I've come to the realization that AG and his clown crew will be here for another season at minimum.

No sense in getting all worked up about this rumor or that rumor.

Its just like Saban. The game day coaches win in the NFL, butch and saban were average at best in the NFL, its just something about the 2 that makes them successful in college. Yes they can recruit but theres more to it. I think Jimbo has that trait in him as well

The University's hands are not tied, no matter what the contract says.

Contracts are breached everyday in the business world.

It's all just a matter of coughing-up $$ when a breach happens.

Games. When one who technically works for you, and won't do what needs doing, but you can't fire him right then, well, there are options.

First, the university can make a power play that pulls the teeth of Golden. He's real proud, too stubborn, and won't be able to handle anyone usurping his authority. So while he's technically the Head Football Coach, you hire a Co-Head Football Coach, and designate that the new Co-Head Football Coach is to take over all football responsibilities, freeing the Head Football Coach to handle promotions, speak to booster groups, and give public statements.

He just got relieved of all duties, but he hasn't been fired. He's still getting his checks, but he's not getting the buyout. It's a public embarrassment, and something if he wants to stay, can just choke on.

In the meantime, Butch can fire and hire the Coordinators and coaching staff, as his duties will be to run the football program.

Golden will be forced to choke on the public embarrassment of being paid - for doing nothing - or arranging a more acceptable buyout for UM. And in the meantime, Butch is right in the driver's seat, recruiting, and preparing for a run at the National Championship.

***** the $8M buyout. That won't happen. Golden can even be promoted to HFC and AD in name only. The AD we have now has no authority, so Golden can sit in his symbolic chair.

Though I heard frequently at the BankUnited Center that AG wants out and that the AD wants him out, this is the first specific that I've heard:

The AD/BOT are now demanding staff changes and Golden is not agreeing to it. In fact he is downright fighting it.

This tells me a few things:

1) AG is loyal to a fault
2) AG is stubborn (was already told this on several occasions)
3) AG believes he can make this thing work
4) AG will not be pushed to do things he doesn't want to do, or think are in the best interest of the progam
5) AD/BOT know that the current situation is not working
6) AD/BOT are demanding change
7) AD/BOT do not believe in one of their HC's main job rquirements: keeping a staff of the best around the program

So there you have it. AG is fully at odds with both AD and BOT. If I am a betting man, this is dead-man walking material. He will be gone, it is not a matter of if but when. And that depends on when AG can get out of town with his career intact, meaning not being fired. He knows that UM won't pay the buyout yet. He knows that there arent' any good viable options out there for him right now either.

We are at an impasse and until either side compromises or an externality presents a solution (good HC gig at other school), everyone is stuck.

Not a good scene right now in Coral Gables.

If I was Al (but I am not Al), I'd decline junking my staff. Knowing that you have to produce or DEFINITELY be gone next year, what should I throw out the baby with the bath water? Coker tried that ish and made enemies of many coaches by firing so many asst coaches. Obviously, Al G knows a thing or two about the history of the U getting asst fired and the subsequent firing-HC practices.

Al G ain't firing nobody. If he is gone later (or sooner), he can take his entire Temple staff of Paul Williams, Jethro Franklin, and D'Onofrio with him.

In a nutshell, this is an untenable situation.

This is effen brilliant. Butch would do it for less than what we pay our coordinators and once Al dips we can bump him up. But this requires the cojones to make a hostile move of this nature and that's something this admin has shown they do not posses.

Heck, JJ got outcoached in two nC games -- Johnie Majors in Sugar Bowl and next year by Shower Daddy Joe Pa. Couldn't win a bowl game until 4th year. Butch wasn't outcoached, just a mess on sideline.

Regardless of a faux title and a continuing paycheck, if we're talking about breach of contract, deviating from his coaching contract in a manner that removes him actual coaching duties is still likely breach.

Whoever is in charge of UM's football program (BOT, but who knows at this point) will likely need to pay up in order to get rid of this idiot.

Best frigging idea you have ever had. Love it.

I've heard and even been told it was possibly as high as an $8 million buyout.. but it was reported that Mcelwain just had the highest buyout in history around $5 million. Being somewhere around there or possibly lower, that should be reasonable

No that's a solution I could fully endorse. Makes perfect sense. Adapt and overcome.

Jeebus some people really do live in fantasy world. You all realize that the BOT is made up for successful professional people, socialites, philanthropists, community and business leaders, etc. These people are not frothing football fanatics that are going to start some sort of scorched Earth war over firing the HC. They may end up with a tense situation, bad blood, a lame duck toxic environment, but they are not going to breach a contract if they are on the hook for 8 million bucks, or create some sort of 3 ring circus to destroy Golden from within.

Worst case scenario is they will just accept next year will be a disaster and pull the trigger next year when the buyout is less. But they are not going to start WW3 because fans are angry about a failed football coach. That would be an embarrassment to the University and pretty much the LAST thing they want.

If they keep him, then its almost certainly because of the money issue. They may realize he's failed, but they aren't displeased enough that they will eat a massive buyout if its around 8M. 8M for UM is not chump change. Yes they have the money, but would they really commit that much to fire a coach? I don't see it. 4-5 would be a stretch, but at least fathomable.

All this other stuff is just delusions and fantasy. This is going to come down to money. If the choose, in the end, to not eat the buyout this year, which I don't think they will, they are just going to sit back and write off next year, and deal with the situation then. They are not going to engage in some sort of guerilla war against a football coach to pressure him out and all that other stuff.
