It’s both. Our organization is awful. That isnt just coaching. It’s support staff, resources, commitment, culture. All awful.
Our talent doesn’t explain the crap we saw yesterday, or the bad results of the past 17 years. So it’s not just talent. But our roster ain’t what it needs to be, and nfl lists don’t prove otherwise. We don’t even play with a full roater. At the most bsic level, we’re competing with a short stack, simply because our own staff doesn’t seem to give a **** and the admin lets it not care. Our teams have recruited poorly on the LOS flr ages, which we know is a serious issue. We have recruited spasmodically, rarely stacking good classes in a row at position groups, let alone overall. We have lacked roster competition for ages. When we recruit Lbs well one year, it’s off the priority list for 3 years. You cannot win that way. And of course, no QB for decades
Special teams suffer with lack of roster depth and lack of focus and coaching. Yep, our special teams have suffered.
It’s not coaching or talent. It’s both. We can get the talent. And we hve underperformed for sure. But nfl stats also overstate the overall roster talent we have had.
An iowa or wisconsin may not have so many nfl guys, but they have upper classmen who compete with each other for pt. That creates culture, drive, improvement. We have not had sustaned roster competition for ages.
