What does logic tell you?I don't think anyone expected a high octane passing attack. Do you think the scheme caused him to become wildly inaccurate?
The ONLY time you try to fix a QBs mechanics is when he really, really wants you to.All off season we heard that the coaches were WORKING ON TVD's mechanics. A heisman candidate, potential first round pick who ended last year with tons of accolades and we couldn't wait to see him light it up. So first game is a patsy and coaches utilize mostly the running game, TVD stats not so great, same in the next game and then the horror at A&M. Now this performance. Now what if these coaches had Bernie? His mechanics were horrible yet he won, I can see them telling Vinny to stay in the pocket longer...you don't fix what ain't broke. I feel for TVD, they screwed up his head and confidence trying to FIX HIM. All 4 teams we played were easily beatable, even Manny would've won them...now its wait again for next year...this is what happens when outside alum pick a coach. Please realize that Mario's entire HC record is barely over .500. We have what we have for a long time so hope and pray Mario has the same balls as Manny did and get a real OC to replace Gattis and ASAP. Anyone watched SMU's offense?
Experience tells me both. QBs have regressed before. What does logic tell you?
Someone point me to the QB that has looked good under Gattis?
I’m still waiting for someone to answer that question too lolYou was right from the Jump about Gattis
Not really. But Garcia gave the offense more juice. He was also pushing the ball more vertically. Was that because of Gattis or was he making different decisions where to throw the ball?I think we just saw.![]()
Kaaya accuracy wasn’t no where near the sh*t levels of accuracy we are seeing from tvd even in that stretch. Not anywhere closeWe saw the same thing with Richt and Kaaya. It took 4 straight losses before Richt realized that Kaaya struggled with the RPO. He wasnt comfortable with having to hold the ball down and read his defensive key then bringing the ball back up and having to look for a WR. It was throwing off his timing. Richt basically went west coast and Kaaya was suddenly a good passer again (after his draft stock had been destroyed).
Anybody wanna guess how many 300yd passing games Cade McNamara had last year?
That’s what I’m saying, irregardless of the offensive scheme, he’s missing BADLY on throws a qb should make. On most of them he’s not even close and literally hasn’t had touch on the deep ball at all down the fieldIf we expect receivers to catch, we should expect QB's to make accurate throws. TVD has been off and when another guy comes in and makes those throws, it's on the guy who went off the field.
He's not getting help from Gattis, but even routine throws that are there he's missing. That's on him and him only.
incredibly laughable , gattis ain’t missing these throws90% Gattis
10% TVD
It was a rhetorical question. Ha. Don't parse out the single quote and leave out all the context attached to it. I have ~25 posts since Southern Miss re: those same observations. I completely agree this was the approach for TVD that would likely fail. But, a COMPLETE FAILURE like yesterday is a bit of everything at this point.Gattis' O. The shuffling feet and patting the ball are telltale signs that he's waiting for plays to develop and is not comfortable. Lashlee gave him easy reads and made sure TVD got the ball out fast. Lashlee didn't use the middle of the field a lot which frustrated fans, but there were lots of quick routes to the sidelines where it was either caught or incomplete out of bounds. The OC's scheme reduced the chances of a turnover. Gattis is 180 from this. He lives between the hashes and wants TVD to make NFL reads and NFL throws. That's not what TVD is good at.
To expose Gattis?I really hope Jake Garcia starts for the rest of the season...
II really hope Jake Garcia starts for the rest of the season...
Lol it's certainly not because he thinks outcome will be different. To expose Gattis?
I first said I would make the change and then I thought about it and it would pretty much end TVDs tenure here and the decision is harder than everyone thinks it is.
It would be Mario being hard headed as he’s been in the past and thus it’s his way or the high way. Mario might never recover reputation wise.
Changes need to happen over the bye week on the offense. Let’s see what happens.
