The Faction

I 100 percent expect to dominate Stanford. What I didn't expect was coming out and doing the same **** we did while losing to louisville. There's just no reason to make it that difficult for the offense to score points. I don't want to hear it coulda been 17-7 or whatever. 7 points is all we scored against stanford. You could use the same **** to say if stanford hadn't thrown the interceptions that led to quick touchdowns for us.. the score would've been different. That first half was *** and if that's what we're gonna continue to run we will not make the acccg. Sorry, I'm not beating my chest and screaming 15-1 natty!! That was a depleted stanford and they pretty much stuffed us in the first half.
There are 6 teams in the acc either above us in the standings or basically tied with us. One has the tie breaker against us. Three of them we don't play and two of those are undefeated. We go head to head with only two of them. Here's reality.. we're 6-1 and need help to get into the acccg. If we keep playing the way we did in the first half against a bad Stanford team.. well take a break from beating your chest and see if you can figure that out.

I'm as big a fan as almost anyone here and I'd bet most on here would label me a slurper. If you want to ignore the obvious issues you go ahead. This aint ******* checkers, it's chess...
I can appreciate your passion. But Dude we don’t need to win the Acccg. F**k that useless appendage. OSU made it to the CFB playoffs, w/o playing in the Big10 playoff. If we have a clear path to the CFB playoff, and we do by winning out, then Good night Irene, get some rest and prepare for the playoffs. JFC, what’s with y’all’s hard on for the f**king Acccg. At this point it’s a participation trophy.

Your last sentence is money
Seven consecutive bad quarters across three games, including six consecutive where we did not hold a lead, has people pretty salty. I understand the concerns and the feeling that it could come back to bite us again. It certainly could.

At the same time, some of the Mario hating is over-the-top. Seems like plenty of confirmation bias from people that simply never have liked Mario and never will.

On the positive side, UM completely dominated all three phases in the second half. Something to build on.

I made a comment on a post after the Louisville game about a sub group of "fans" that "is unsatisfied with anything less than complete and total annihilation of every single opponent each week." They are The Faction.

Considering our history since 2003, I get this stupidity after an uninspired loss to a team we should've beat. However, I'm seeing these creatures come out again this morning after a 42-7 win over Stanford. Yes, I saw the first half. Yes, it was uninspired (again) Yes, I get the PTSD as I was feeling it too. Then the second half came and we looked like the team we should have been in the first half. Football games are not played on a glowing screen with joysticks. Parity is very real. Last year's national champ had two losses and I think it's very likely the champ will not be undefeated this year...at least I haven't seen a world beater to this point. (Side note - Indiana played the LA version of Stanford yesterday and rolled them. They might be the best team so far and I can't belive I'm writing this.) I'll never understand why some fans feel the the need to act as if the world is ending after a blowout victory. It is a poor reflection on the school and those who do that look dumb. But....I guess Message Board Geniuses wouldn't exist without it.

Carry on.
Go Canes.

And y'all can "finna drag me" if ya want. Don't care cuz I'm not wrong about this.
Well said. I think they had about 70 yards of total offense after the first drive and maybe 2 1st downs.

5 penalties for 30 yards.

And most importantly a 35 point win with most starters out in the 4th.

Sky is falling though.

Incredible. I really thought the slurpers would at least take 24 hours until they showed back up. Nope. Immediately right back to calling people who have been right, some weird ****.

This team has played 7 of the last 9 quarters like it’s a bottom tier ACC school. And it’s all bc the coaching staff sucks. But please call out “the faction” after the team wakes up and plays half a good game against the 2nd worst team in the conference, that also lost to Hawaii.

Indiana has a coach that would be a member of this Faction, and his naive *** has the team and fans with the most losses in history believing it too.

I wish a few more of our players and coaches had this mind set.

We are at our best when want to dominate our opponent and believe they need to be humiliated.

We should never be lining up to prove it, to "out execute", we should be talking about executions in an different light altogether.
I think Cig is the truth. But Indiana had the 3 scrimmages to start the season. That is such a ridiculous advantage over every single team in the country. They started with Indiana St, Kennisaw St and ODU. We started with ND, UF and FSU.

We are not osu.. we aren't in the $ec either. Getting to the acccg is the clearest path to the playoffs imo. What's the big deal? Only two acc teams made the playoffs last year and they were both in the acccg.

We ARE inverse Penn State. As a program

- Win big games, lose clunkers. Still not a top contender. We’re better as a program. Stuck in Mario purgatory.

- Totally blew it taking Beck over Mendoza and whiffing on top portal WR targets (bc we had no QB)

- not completely down on the rest of the year, just hostage to a really dumb head coach who thinks duo is the only running play on earth. Sigh 42-7 bro
Everyone on this board would have burned this ***** down (at the time) if we took Mendoza over Beck. ****, Mendoza was waiting in the wings and most of this board wanted nothing to do with him once we didn’t get Mateer. Mendoza wasn’t moving any needles for portal WR’s. Hindsight is 20/20 and nobody wanted the guy. Just saying.

Yes, there were plenty of posts on here saying to leave Mendoza in Cal. Too slow and meh as a passer to be here in Miami. Fast forward a year and now it's a blown opportunity. CIS is gonna CIS.

Dmoney liked him but consensus narrative at one point was that Mendoza was Emory Williams tier.

Let's see how sustainable that is and if he still feels like that with 2-3 losses or more in back to back seasons. They've caught everyone around them with their pants down at the moment and have had a fairly easy schedule. Once teams see the bigger competition recognizes them as a real threat they'll take their lumps. Luckily he's somewhere that won't ever care if he breaks 10 wins once every 5 years.

You know what they say about hindsight. I was one of those that felt uninspired by Mendoza. I did think he had talent, but coming off of Cam Ward, it felt like we needed something bigger. Congrats to him and I hope he goes pro right away haha.

Is mendoza actually that good or is it cig? I remember people hyping up Indianas QB last year too but I doubt people even remember his name.

I mean, @Lance Roffers is right on this, and I’m sure he’ll speak to it on his breakdown this week if he does one. There’s a reason underdogs try to shorten the game, fewer plays gives more weight to each individual play which favors the team that’s less likely to win down to down. A few fluke plays here and there are way less impactful in a game with 150 total plays than one with 75.

I’m not saying we should be running at a USF tempo, but the tempo in the first half was detrimental.

At $12M a year, they care. Only 2 guys make more than him now, Kirby and Day.

Because he was calling it as he saw it in real time? No. His point about explosives is totally valid. I also didn’t see him make any posts today with over the top ridiculousness AFTER we won by 35. Maybe he will, but I really doubt it. As I’ve mentioned/quoted before, it’s quite possible to be a fan and not be a slurper nor a mope.

I'm glad we dominated, but bruh, it was Stanford, they're not even relatively close talent-wise, I'm saying, where was all that against Louisville, a team that we're more talented than, but has enough to beat us. The best team left on our schedule is probably Pitt, and we can't afford to lose another game now, or we're cooked when it comes to the playoffs, and knowing our coach and the way he makes things more difficult than they should be, it'll be tough not to lose another game
