The Faction

There's a difference between being a realist and being a Cristo-Crusader.

We won 42-7 and some people on here are acting like we got bailed out by a ref's call against some D2 school. We have stunk for the better part of 20+ years and are realistically looking at having back to back 10 win seasons for the first time in that span, yet some folks are really unhappy.
The negative nellies are always out in force. There’s always negative no matter how much positive there may be.

I do find it funny that when Stanford beat FSU people were freaking out about us not taking them lightly. You could hear the knees knocking.

We beat them by 35 and it’s back to “they’re trash”

One thing we should all agree on here is…holy **** FSU lost to these guys

I'm fine with pointing out weaknesses. I'm not fine with blatant stupidity.
We won 42-7 and there are some people on here behaving as though we lost to Middle Tennessee State. Oops, too soon?
You MUST see the difference in what I am pointing out by throwing MTSU in there, no?
This is the issue.

When people vomit nonsense on the screen and are pressed on it they just assume a persecution complex.

We would probably agree on their analysis of said weaknesses. It's just all the sissy whining and lying around it that cause disagreement.

Indiana has a coach that would be a member of this Faction, and his naive *** has the team and fans with the most losses in history believing it too.

I wish a few more of our players and coaches had this mind set.

We are at our best when want to dominate our opponent and believe they need to be humiliated.

We should never be lining up to prove it, to "out execute", we should be talking about executions in a different light altogether.
Yes, the way he dominated Old Dominion…

We're 16-3 in our last 19 games where our QB started and finished the game.

And we have snarky posts like this wishing for failure so they can say they told us so.
I hope none of you are misconstruing my criticism as a source of pleasure. Not once in my life have I or will I root against the University of Miami. I will never root for us to lose, I will never root for anyone to fail, I will never root for mediocrity. Not even making this some sort of **** measuring contest, but I’d reckon I’ve attended more games in recent memory than a lot of people on this board.

What I am doing, and what many of us are trying to allude to, is that the product on the field the last 3 games is not indicative of the team YOU GUYS think they are. It is not indicative of any sort of progress - we are not any better than we were at the beginning of the season. I think it’s impossible to argue against imo. We’re worse, clearly worse. Every statistical measure indicates that.

And so we do this song and dance year over year, where people are posting we’re the best team in America, we have a top 2 roster in America, we’re going undefeated, there’s no team clearly better than us in the country…etc etc.

And so now we have these two groups that have some insatiable desire to hate and dunk on each other, so that’s that.

What I will stand on is that if anyone is encouraged by yesterday - I didn’t say happy with a win, I didn’t say we can’t be happy we’re one step closer to 11-1 - they’re lying to themselves. Or they’re delusional.

Do you think it’s a coincidence that pretty much every respected poster on here is back to taking jabs at Mario, or concerned about the trajectory of the team relative to expectations after Week 4? You think they want to do that? Or are they sick of beating their head against a wall, seeing the same issues arise at similar points in a season year-over-year?

Anyone referencing a score, well it just fits the narrative. That’s really all there is to it.

This response is actually good, although I think that was a 5 win team.... and nice gif.

I'm not asking for a Mario statue in front of Hecht. I'm asking for something far more impossible - fans to (sometimes) use a little reason and have some perspective. I grew up on this team in the 80s, graduated from there in the mid 90s, then saw the 1999-2003 teams. Since then, it has largely sucked. If nothing else, Mario has made us relevant again. We need to stop losing to tu.rd teams to finish the labyrinth IMO. Had we converted the 4th down(s), scored a TD and not missed the FG, we win 52-7 (assuming the rest is the same - which it never is, but you get the point) and people would STILL be on here complaining about caveman football, how this is gonna bite us, etc.

We should stay in the top 10 this week. If so, that makes 20 weeks ranked in the top 10 in the last 2 years.

In the previous EIGHTEEN YEARS….we were ranked in the top 10…….18 times.

Nobody is petitioning for a parade. Nobody is saying induct Mario into the UM HOF. This is Miami, we expect greatness. Nobody is going to suck you off for being ranked in the top 10. But we wait all year for football season. We sit here for 353 days a year and discuss things that impact the other 12, which are all that matter. Is it so awful to just slightly acknowledge that this is the healthiest this program has been, BAR NONE, since before Malachi Toney was literally born, for example? We’re 16-3 in the past 1.5 years. If we lose to SMU, I’ll be just as ****ed as the next guy, and blaming Mario and the staff and the kids etc. But we’ve lost ONE GAME. I only get the chance to watch this program 12 times a year. Yeah, I was throwing **** in the first half too. But I’ll be damned if I’m gonna sit around on a Sunday morning ****ed off because we won a game 42-7. For as nauseating as the first half was, the 2nd half was that impressive. We won the half 35-0. They had 30 yards of offense for the half until the last drive. Games are 60 minutes for a reason. It’d be nice to have the first half in Dallas look like the 2nd half last night, but if it doesn’t, ok. Just win the ******* game.

We ARE inverse Penn State. As a program

- Win big games, lose clunkers. Still not a top contender. We’re better as a program. Stuck in Mario purgatory.

- Totally blew it taking Beck over Mendoza and whiffing on top portal WR targets (bc we had no QB)

- not completely down on the rest of the year, just hostage to a really dumb head coach who thinks duo is the only running play on earth. Sigh 42-7 bro
"Totally blew it taking Beck over Mendoza and whiffing on top portal WR targets (bc we had no QB)"

I don't disagree...but it is really interesting to look back at the reaction from the majority of CIS when D$ brought up Mendoza. It wasn't exactly a ringing endorsement.

Criticism can be justified at times but praise can also be part of the equation. Many on here focus solely on the negative and rarely acknowledge the positive.

NO CFB team is perfect as evidenced by upsets every week. Acknowledging both negative and positive isn’t being soft or a mope or slurper. It’s being realistic about the unpredictable nature CFB in general

I’m convinced we could win a natty and I could open the board and there would be a thread “We won the natty, BUT…”

I’ve said that for years. I guarantee it. You’d have people on here, dead ***, saying “we won in spite of Mario” blah blah. I gotta do better of just not engaging people anymore here. These are miserable humans in their personal lives. It’s like arguing religion or politics. No matter what happens, none of these people will be happy for longer than a minute, because their existence on the planet sucks. So there’s no point trying to change anyone’s mind. When we win, cool, we were supposed to. I’ll go back to my shift at Super Lube. When we lose, or even win but not as impressively as I, knowing of nothing, thinks we should have, I will unleash a ****storm of posts so furious it’ll block out the sun and you will KNOW that ********** Mario is a loser.

Truly weird bunch.

Honestly that’s what Mario thinks he’s doing by grinding out the run game.

He wants to physically overwhelm the opponent in the trenches and when we are running the ball effectively at the end of games that’s his entire goal. That’s humiliating to him.

Not saying that’s good bad or indifferent but that’s who he is.
Agreed I am not a big fan of his style but middle of the third quarter last night Stanford flat out was done for and wanted to go home. Mario and the canes made them quit. This isn’t a team full of quitters either. They suck but they play hard. Last night it didn’t matter they had had enough.

I think the complaints about the offense are justified.

This is STANFORD. The offense was not explosive.

Lets not act like Toney didn't have two huge Punt Returns, Bissainthe and interception to get us to the goal line, and Lucas with another interception on their side of the field.

Thats four possessions with excellent field position.

The offense threw for less than 200 yards against a secondary with multiple injuries and suspensions.

The running backs ran for 178 yards on 4.23 yards per carry.

Against a Stanford team that is totally outnatched talent wise.

Listen, I am one of the biggest proponents of not complaining after a win. If you cant enjoy wins, why watch football?

Buuuuut, this was a ****** Stanford team and our offense did not really look good at all. It is very concerning and questions about it are legit.

Lies. Straight lies ALL OVER this comment.

You mentioned bumping this post later (when we inevitably lose) on your first comment. Why? So you could flex and TAKE JOY on being right over the Canes winning. Go lie somewhere else. Liar. Liar. Pants on fire.

I agree with some of what you wrote. I'm not ready to crown Mendoza just yet. I saw him at Berkeley last year and he was meh. I saw him yesteday and he was meh.... but he can scramble and make plays. He hasn't hurt his team yet. Beck cost us the Louisville game. Period. Yes there were other factors, but tossing 4 picks (ahem 5) almost guarantees a loss.
Losing clunkers isn't just a Miami thing. Got any friends in Texas? You mentioned Unhappy Valley. Know anyone there?
We also ran some pulling G/T run plays in the second half, so is Mario really that dumb or did the players install that on their own?

I'm not trying to get snarky with you. I feel that sigh at the end of what you wrote. It's just that we really do have a faction of our fans that expect perfection - and it's not attainable.
Fair points amigo. This is a top 4-5 expensive roster in the country. We should expect more.

Mendoza is more athletic than Beck. And a steadier hand. Not saying he is a God but think he would give us more. We turned him down, supposedly it was Dawson. Mario is friends with his father. I was told His mom is ill. They wanted both kids home. It is what it is.

I hope we run more behind coop and Francis and less behind brockermeyer. He’s just gonna get killed vs above avg DTs.
