The Faction

These comments are exactly what I'm talking about. There is a little truth, a lot of half-truths, and some flat out lies mixed in so that you can feel better about your negativity.

Have you ever met Mario and had a dialogue with him long enough to decide if intellect truly isn't one of the areas Mario is impressive in? I have not. Therefore, I'm not using his word salad, nothing burger pressers as the only source for making that determination.
Dawson is not a killer? This is the same OC who was quoted as saying "I want to win this MF thing right now" when TVD and the boys beat Texas A&M a few years back.

Happiness hurts, doesn't it?
I am quite pleased with Mario and believe in him.

I can in fact enjoy something without an absolute belief in its perfection.

Honestly that’s what Mario thinks he’s doing by grinding out the run game.

He wants to physically overwhelm the opponent in the trenches and when we are running the ball effectively at the end of games that’s his entire goal. That’s humiliating to him.

Not saying that’s good bad or indifferent but that’s who he is.
Mario is stuck in that pre-2015 Bama mindset. The game has changed. Saban realized it and opened it up. Mario refuses to. We aren’t rolling out 7 or 8 first round picks on the field anytime soon.

I have a degree from Indiana too, so yes definitely a good football weekend with an average margin of victory of 40.5!

Make no mistake we also did dominate and humiliate the Tree, which was enjoyable.

This is football though, so there is a place for "The Faction's" perspective, even if to your point, fans absolutely need to be able to enjoy themselves during the process.
I'm fine with pointing out weaknesses. I'm not fine with blatant stupidity.
We won 42-7 and there are some people on here behaving as though we lost to Middle Tennessee State. Oops, too soon?
You MUST see the difference in what I am pointing out by throwing MTSU in there, no?

And I never said he was perfect. To put it in terms you and others will understand, just because you're not swinging a 14" hammer, it doesn't mean you're stuck with a 2" tack hammer by default.

Those perspectives were far more mind numbing when were a 7 win squad and several steps aways from being a step away.

We're good enough now that the portion of the fan base that wants to chase the dragon is just fine.

16-3 last 2 years. Losses by 3, 4, and 5.
All as double digit favorites…all against inferior comp…all with control over our postseason destiny. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, and expecting a different result. Let’s ignore the previous two seasons too because it doesn’t fit the select narrative.

Carry on king

The sentiment should be expected after the end of the FSU game, the loss to Louisville @home after a bye, and then that abortion of a first half. But just imagine what this place would look like after another loss.

We ARE inverse Penn State. As a program

- Win big games, lose clunkers. Still not a top contender. We’re better as a program. Stuck in Mario purgatory.

- Totally blew it taking Beck over Mendoza and whiffing on top portal WR targets (bc we had no QB)

- not completely down on the rest of the year, just hostage to a really dumb head coach who thinks duo is the only running play on earth. Sigh 42-7 bro
I agree with some of what you wrote. I'm not ready to crown Mendoza just yet. I saw him at Berkeley last year and he was meh. I saw him yesteday and he was meh.... but he can scramble and make plays. He hasn't hurt his team yet. Beck cost us the Louisville game. Period. Yes there were other factors, but tossing 4 picks (ahem 5) almost guarantees a loss.
Losing clunkers isn't just a Miami thing. Got any friends in Texas? You mentioned Unhappy Valley. Know anyone there?
We also ran some pulling G/T run plays in the second half, so is Mario really that dumb or did the players install that on their own?

I'm not trying to get snarky with you. I feel that sigh at the end of what you wrote. It's just that we really do have a faction of our fans that expect perfection - and it's not attainable.

lol when did Penn State never won a big game. That’s why he got canned.

This response is actually good, although I think that was a 5 win team.... and nice gif.

I'm not asking for a Mario statue in front of Hecht. I'm asking for something far more impossible - fans to (sometimes) use a little reason and have some perspective. I grew up on this team in the 80s, graduated from there in the mid 90s, then saw the 1999-2003 teams. Since then, it has largely sucked. If nothing else, Mario has made us relevant again. We need to stop losing to tu.rd teams to finish the labyrinth IMO. Had we converted the 4th down(s), scored a TD and not missed the FG, we win 52-7 (assuming the rest is the same - which it never is, but you get the point) and people would STILL be on here complaining about caveman football, how this is gonna bite us, etc.

The Cristobalsaders are out this morning 😂

I’ll just save my breath for the bumps at this point man. Y’all bring it on yourselves.

Onto SMU.
There's a difference between being a realist and being a Cristo-Crusader.

We won 42-7 and some people on here are acting like we got bailed out by a ref's call against some D2 school. We have stunk for the better part of 20+ years and are realistically looking at having back to back 10 win seasons for the first time in that span, yet some folks are really unhappy.

Why are we double digit favorites? Mario. You’d feel better if we had a worse record but we lost as underdogs? This line of thinking is so insanely moronic.

I’m not ignoring anything. I say all week, every week on this board that there are a lot of flaws on this team. But at the end of the day, the scoreboard is the ONLY thing that matters. Full stop. We’ve lined up 19 times the last 2 years. Our number was higher 16 outta the 19. That ain’t half bad. There’s always things to clean up, and I’ll always be here to talk ball with folks I respect and who know more than me. There are a lot. But there are also a lot of people here who have a very perplexing existence. We have precious little time on earth…you choose to spend yours on an anonymous message board discussing something you hate with people who love said thing? I genuinely couldn’t imagine, but hey, they do them.

This thread wasn’t created to talk nuances of the actual games. I’ll be in those because there’s plenty that concerns me. But 16-3 is 16-3. Make it 17-3 next week.

I made a comment on a post after the Louisville game about a sub group of "fans" that "is unsatisfied with anything less than complete and total annihilation of every single opponent each week." They are The Faction.

Considering our history since 2003, I get this stupidity after an uninspired loss to a team we should've beat. However, I'm seeing these creatures come out again this morning after a 42-7 win over Stanford. Yes, I saw the first half. Yes, it was uninspired (again) Yes, I get the PTSD as I was feeling it too. Then the second half came and we looked like the team we should have been in the first half. Football games are not played on a glowing screen with joysticks. Parity is very real. Last year's national champ had two losses and I think it's very likely the champ will not be undefeated this year...at least I haven't seen a world beater to this point. (Side note - Indiana played the LA version of Stanford yesterday and rolled them. They might be the best team so far and I can't belive I'm writing this.) I'll never understand why some fans feel the the need to act as if the world is ending after a blowout victory. It is a poor reflection on the school and those who do that look dumb. But....I guess Message Board Geniuses wouldn't exist without it.

Carry on.
Go Canes.

And y'all can "finna drag me" if ya want. Don't care cuz I'm not wrong about this.
Preach!!! AMEN!
