Team will be 4-0 heading into the showdown with FSU

If only we weren't put into the position to allow a single fumble to determine a 60 minute game played by 11 players. If only we didn't have to ride Duke all game, for most games in order to have any semblance of an offense.

No one is getting defensive. Your premise is just beyond retarded.

"If only we weren't..." has no bearing on this one. We were in that position. The fumble mattered. Just like the batted ball touchdown by Karlos Williams essentially sealed our fate.

Last year's team needed things to go the right way because of all of the things that were holding them back: coaching, scheme, talent, inexperience.

Turnovers are something that you try to minimize. Marginal teams can't lose the turnover battle and can't let the other team get all the breaks.

FSU got that KW TD and the no-call on the NOL fumble. Those mattered. Yes, so did our lack of halftime adjustments and the "let up" on offense. No dispute there, but plays matter whether you like it or not.

ErmonLane dropped a wide open TD pass before that Williams play. That is why it is stupid to try to base a game on one play.

Lane makes an easy catch and the KW play never happens.

But the KW play did happen. And it was huge. In fact, the Rapist's only TD of the night.

Look, we were on Nebraska's side of midfield...2 minutes left in the 3rd quarter...down by 3, driving for the lead or at least a tie...on 2nd down and short...

Then the fumble.

Which not only turns over possession, but gets scoop 'n scored for a TD. Instead of tying the game or taking the lead--or at worst flipping field position--we're down by 10.

It's not about "basing a game on one play." Of course we still could have won. But the fact is that it was a huge, game-changing play. One of the biggest in the game. It was critical. Timing was horrible. Dug us deeper into a hole, one we weren't able to get out of. That fumble was a gut-punch and stalled momentum.

Why is that so hard to acknowledge?

Bethune and FAU, yes easy wins. Nebraska and Cincy, who knows? This coaching staff has an instinct for losing games. If I had to bet, I would say 2-2 instead of 4-0.

Stupid. Guys play the if and buts game all day. FSU drove down the field, lane dropped an easy pass. Then Williams converted. FSU not scoring there doesn't mean they dont win.

If FSU returned Dobbards fumble for a TD, maybe momentum swings their way early on and it's a complete blowout.

If Cook didnt fumble maybe FSu scores early and takes momentum and it's a blowout.

If Dalvin Cook didn't break 8 ***** arm tackles for a 40 yards TD, maybe FSU doesn't win.

if FSU didnt have a NFl kicker blasting a 55 yard FG down the middle, then maybe they didn't win.

If Kayyaa didn't throw a INT to end the game, then maybe Miami wins, so clearly Kayaa will always choke when it matters.

This is like the idiots saying "if only Duke didn't break his ankle we come back and beat FSU"... even though FSU was already up by three scores with 9 minutes left and an Offense that could do whatever it wanted.

Duke could of been a Reggie Bush like superstar at Bama, FSU, or OSU. Instead, to most football fans, he is just some dude on the Browns roster that played at Miami.

Ridiculous how people can trash him. Stupid.

Your reading comprehension is horrible. This is what some people can't help but do...take an opinion about the significance/impact of one play in the context of a particular game and interpret it as bashing a player.

This discussion has nothing to do with how talented Duke is, or how much he did for the U, or where he stacks up in 'Canes history, or how highly I think of him. Period. If you think it does, then you're just making it up for some reason that has nothing to do with me or my comments.

Just tell me this:

What does the commentary on this one Nebraska play have to do with you saying "he is just some dude on the Browns roster that played at Miami"?

How is this "trashing him"?

I'll hang up and listen.

Miami fans thinking Nebraska is good last year or this year to make themselves feel good about beating them is just as pathetic as teams that beat us thinking they accomplished anything.

You're insufferably dense. He showed you twice how Lane's huge drop didn't derail FSU because it was only 1 play out of about 80. FSU overcame that 1 play and several others that went wrong for them over the course of that game. That's why looking at 1 play and hanging too much importance on it is the retarded.

Losers look for that 1 play to make themselves feel like they were 1 play from winning. Meanwhile, they conveniently ignore all the negative plays that the opponent overcame in beating you.

Yet you can't get that simple concept that Grish and McGahee are trying to teach you. Funny thing is that you think you're explaining something to them from your higher level of intellect, yet they're schooling you.

Okay. And we all know who you are.

I don't know what there is to be "schooled" on here. My comments in here had to do with 2 things.

First, I see Duke's fumble in the Nebraska game as a big play. More important than a lot of others in that game. If you think I'm "hanging too much importance" on that play, then fine. I'm assuming most people (probably including you) would concede it was more important than, say, an incomplete pass. In that case, we both recognize it was more important than your average play, we just disagree about the degree if importance (to use your term). Fine. How that makes me dense, I don't know. I guess because I'm dense.

Or, if you and others don't see it as more important than any other play, so be it. Only 1 play out of about 80. Fine. So was Kenny Calhoun's. And so was McGahee's knee injury in the Fiesta Bowl.

Second, according to some in this thread, me having that opinion apparently means that I'm bashing Duke and think he sucks. I'll stop there and pay you the courtesy of assuming you can figure that one out.

Put your hockey helmet back on before you do any further damage to your infantile brain. Now you're comparing losing your best player, who carried you all season, for over an entire half (McGahee) to 1 play during a game? Are you really that dopey, or is this a put on?

Let me explain it for you. The Will Allen tackle (the 1 play in question) wasn't what cost UM so dearly. What hurt UM so badly was losing its best player for more than half the game. I'll keep helping you if you promise to try to learn.

Okay, now you've quit. I won't fight a man who's put down his sword and dropped to his knees. It's not honorable.

So? We were 7-0 heading into FSU in '13. We'll still lose 4-5 games (at the very least) in the regular season.

Dumb people tend to have bad memories. Hence the ability to fire themselves up every year, despite over a decade's worth of evidence that indicates we will likely suck.

Cincy - 10 days to prepare, crushed them last season

FSU - ???

How does crushing Cincy last season matter?

By that logic, Nebraska will run for 300 yards, and Everet Golson will Lead a 4th quarter comeback that is sealed by a Jalen Ramsey interception.

Cincy isn't as talented, but talent isn't a requirement to beat Golden, and they were a good team the 2nd half of last season. gunner Kiel is a good QB too.

It matters because I think we can beat them. Kiel will be good but their defense wasn't great by seasons end. We also have 10 days to prepare coming off what I believe will be a win over Nebraska.

8-4 is my prediction fwiw
