Tavon Ross has arrived in Miami...

These services are funny. They all scrambled and tacked on extra stars once Bama, UGA, and imam started sniffing around.

I never actually checked what his stars were when he popped on the scene. Im not a big believer in the star obsession. Everyone just said "2 stars" so I assume he was, but I see him having 3 stars everywhere now. Would make perfect sense though, with Bama, UM, and UGA suddenly all over the kid, that the "services" would magically boost his stars.

Most of the time it's just that the services don't know anything about some kids. People cry all the time about our guys falling in the rankings but constantly over the years we get a commit and then all the sudden he gains stars.

A big school gets a commit, highlight tapes circulate. Stars are awarded. Ain't that hard to figure out.

People constantly throw out the claim that the recruiting services are biased against UM. It's ridiculous.

I actually dont think it was our offer that got him the 3rd star, but rather Bama. When its a UM kid, the stars go down or stay the same. There is not enough of subscriber base among UM fans for them to inflate the stars for UM commits. But if the kid is suddenly interested in Bama or OSU or a program with 40-45K students and a huge alumni base, well then its time to sell subscriptions and generate board traffic by adding stars.

The stars go down w/ UM offers? Then how do you explain Chad Thomas's fifth and Mike Smith's fourth star recently? Or Demetrius Jackson?

When it's a UM kid stars go down? That's why Alin went up to 4? Kaaya blew up? Chad? Mike Smith? Djack? Alex Collins? Lol at these generalizations with no validity to them

Nice time to visit . . . mid to high 20s this afternoon in Georgia

I live in atlanta ga man. It's always hot here lol. But we are going through a little cold front to be honest...

I live in the A too...**** it was 15 last night! two weeks ago it was -5! One day the high was 25. Little cold is an understatement.

There is a little validity here. It's very exaggerated on this site, but it does happen.

Theses databases will always appease the fan bases with high subscription #'s.

Guys like Tyrone Swoopes benefit off it. Then they show up to the Elite 11/The Opening and get laughed at.

Like I said, it's not even close to what some of our fans make it out to be.. but it does happen.

Cut the star talk please.

Anything update wise on this kid? No stalkers amongst you?

4 years in a row we had a kid that flew up the charts of the rankings. Chickillo, Duke, AQM, and this year you could put in Kaaya or Chad, but these same posters say that there is a conspiracy. Yeah cause Chickillo really deserved that ranking. This is the stuff I talk about, the mental gymnastics, of twisting every picture into what you want it to look like. These same posters *****ed and moaned about KC falling out of the Rivals 100 and said that it was the bias against Miami and that all the FSU guys became 5 stars. They missed the part where both Daub and Pugh also fell out of the Rivals 100......

I never said it was a "conspiracy" against UM. It has nothing to do with "conspiracy" and everything to do with business. UM is a small school with a smaller alumni and can base. Thus u sell more subscriptions and generate more board traffic by inflating the kids looking at the big schools.

And it's not that a UM commit will always get bumped down or never get upgraded. But if you watch closely, the kids who commit early and shut down their recruiting to UM will usually get surpassed by other kids at bigger schools. The kids taking visits to big programs then get bumped up. Chad disnt get his 5th star til all the talk about him visiting Bama started to pick up.

Kaaya HAD to be bumped up after the kid was invited to elite 11. Was offered July USC and UCLA and won a state championship. Despite all that, look where he is still listed. Smith got his 4th star right around when rumors started that he might take visits.

It's not a conspiracy, it's about hype and business. And its not just against UM but a general bias towards the bigger programs. And it's not an egregious issue where it happens every time or all the time, but there is absolutely a bias towards the bigger programs. Look at Darrion Owens. I am absolutely certain he would be a consensus 4 star on every site had he committed to FSU, Bama or Texas.

This is nothing new and has been going on for years.

Daub and Pugh had no choice but to go down. These aren't blatant, overt things, it's subtle. And if you think the largest subscriber bases in CFB don't get content tailored for them you're naive.

BEST POST.. AND SUMMED UP THIS WHOLE RECRUITING GAME.

I have NEVER cared about stars or looked at stars...its all about FILM with me...and thats because i was a recruit and understand how these things go down.

Even when people give their evideence to show that the star ranking system isnt "business" operated they still prove cane4life and my point.

EXACTLY.....Daub and Pugh committed early....commit early and the chances of rise is small...

Honestly Pugh might be the best lb in the state.....yet he falls out of certain ranking system.....

this is the EXACT reason why our early 2000 classes were OVERRATED or BUST...and the exact reason TEXAS kids are seemed to be bust. I mean sh*t Bakas and Dmoney and crew laid this sh*t out for people on grassy.

-Trust your eyes.....dont watch the stars....Tavon Ross is a 2 star recruit.....that is a Mizz commit..being chased by the top dog in his state (UGA).

I agree with parts of your post but you're wrong.

Kaaya got his 4th star before the elite 11 invite and AFTER miami commitment. They didn't have to bump him up anywhere. 18 kids got invited to the elite 11 and not all of them are 4* kids. Not to mention Kaaya has been a 96 on 247 before he got the west coast offers.
Smith got his 4th star from 247 after a writer saw him in practice.
Djack got his 4th star after having 5 sacks in his first four games.
Alin got his 4th star after he committed to us, once he decommitted he dropped.

Also looked at David Cornwell the Bama qb commit. Went from #1 in the nation to #4 after the Bama commitment.

RE: Kaaya "Despite all that look where's he listed" Yeah I'm looking. Top 150 on 247 composite. Top 125 on espn. Top 100 on 247. Chad didn't get his fifth star still the visits? Lol. You must've not followed then. Chad has been 5* from rivals and scout for a while now. I swear you have been twisting stories to fit your narrative.

I agree that kids will get bumped up when big schools offer. I think it has more to do with a big school offering than it has to do with a large subscription bass. The two just go hand in hand. When Saban wins 3 out of the past 4 and offers someone unknown DT, of course the kid is going to be bumped up. Saban has an eye for talent. When UGA, Miami, and Bama offer someone unknown mizzou commit, of course he's going to go from a 79 to 88. Not to mention when the recruiting guys actually turn on the film, the film shows why those schools offered.

FYI, UGA is hosting TJ Harrell 4* safety from Tampa and they just offered a few days ago. Ross related? Seems so to me

Sure. If he's looking, they're looking. It's like this every year all around the country. Teams have a solid list of commits, then there is a last minute shakeup.

Ross is a Mizzou commit, not UGA.

Im aware........... maybe Ross gave them the idea he isn't going to sign there

meanwhile, back in recruiting land

the kids name is Tavon Ross

he may or may not be elite, and also may or may not have elite speed. he is commited to mizz and has interest in several schools.

/someone will argue this post
