Strong to USF

wow shannon and golden mindphucked this fanbase

I would say you as well because as soon as you hear anything you immediately jump to conclusion. In this case your wrong...

Dude didn't say he was worried about Strong being able to compete on the field. That would be laughable at this point.

He said he would compete for recruits. Strong has very deep ties to Florida and the high school coaches like him. He would also be the only black head coach of significance in the state of Florida. Over time he might drive this team into the ground as well but until then he will get better recruits. You can bank on that. Not sure I am concerned at this point but I would rather see him coaching Cal.

I would be more worried if he ended up as a LB coach for FSU.

you're the same, Louisville got all those Miami recruits because of the shannon-golden transition and disasters, nothing else

I only read the first few replies but I can guarantee somewhere in this thread some mentioned Butch Davis the God.
Naw nobody had mentioned that bum until you came along...

If only that were true. Rustled faqqots all over this place about Butch Davis the God.

Does Strong have any financial incentative to return to coaching? Isn't every dime a school pays him one less dime Texas has to pay as part of the buyout?

He'd be coaching for nothing but pride.

Plus some coaching buyouts get reduced if you don't get a new job or at least look for one.

No. The offset on his buyout is apparently 50%. So, if Texas owes him 5 million next year, and someone hired him for 2 million, the 5 million from Texas would be reduced to 4). So, he'd end up with 6 mill next year. That's a long way from working for nothing. He has the luxury of taking a year off, but some guys like the work too much to sit out.

Texas to pay $9.375 million for Charlie Strong in 2014

I'm not sure how your math works. 50% of 5mil is 2.5, so wouldn't that put him at 4.5mil? Again, not peanuts, just curious.
Also your link references 2014?

After reading it again I realized that the 50% you mention is of his new salary. Nevermnd. If tahts the case then Texas is not too bright and good for Strong.

The buyout is reduced by 50% of what his new employer pays him. 50% of 2 million reduces Texas obligation by 1 million.

Charlie hasn't gotten a new contract since the one referenced in the article. His initial (and only) contract was for 5 years.

Of course, my understanding could be wrong. Here's another, more recent link that states it the way I understand it.

i would think Coach Hee Haw and UF would have more to be worried about with Strong at the oddly named U of South Florida.

My Ohio State friends are claiming that *** has offered Strong to be their new Co-Defensive Coordinator. Luke Fickell just got hired at Cincy.

Makes sense on the surface but I wonder if the Strong apologists are going to say he needs at least 4 years there before he can be fairly judged?

His buyout was 11.2 million from Texas, I would have stayed the **** home.

Why?

Because he would make 11.2 million over 2 years ( his contract term was until 2019 ) for doing absolutely nothing. He does lose some of the buyout money for coaching again, but not all of it.

Doubtful. He likely has a duty to try in good faith to get another coaching position.

He has to make reasonable efforts, but what does that really mean.
