Rutgers drops Miami

Sitting in class currently. To pass the time I started googling P5 schools to see which ones still have open spots for 2018-19 (at least spots that weren't announced as filled yet). I only made it through about 30 P5 schools, but below is a list of the schools that had open spots for each year.

2018: Saturday, Sept 8
Ole Miss - Sept 8 (and Sept 15)
TCU - Sept 8 (and Sept 1, Sept 22)
Michigan - Sept 8
2019: Not sure which date we were supposed to play Rutgers, but these teams have at least 1 open non-con game
Iowa St. - Sept 7
Arizona - Aug 31
Ole Miss - Sept 7
Cal - Sept 7
TCU - 3 separate dates
Mich - Aug 31, Sept 14

Playing in Texas or California would be bigly beneficial in terms of recruiting. I'll take a home and home with TCU

Unless we get one of those Week 1 special kickoff games like the Chick fil a Classic or something that money is most likely going to some scrub team to come to Miami.

I doubt many Power 5 teams have openings and are willing to play Miami.

Correct. Every P5 team already has their schedule set for 18/19.

Best we can hope for is something similar happens to another P5 team, but trying for a G5 is more realistic, even though they have their schedules set also.

I don't think people realize what a shītty position this puts us in. We're talking next year's schedule here. Those fat Jersey fūcks screwed us at the last minute.

Yep... We'll be stuck with a weaker strength of schedule.

By losing Rutgers off our schedule? We could pick up almost anyone and our SoS would be about the same. I get our schedule taking a hit if LSU bailed, but this is Rutgers we're talking about.

Personally, I liked the App State game last year. It gave us a good chance to beat the snot out of a team ontheir field, that had just taken a mighty SEC team to the limit. We should check to see who is playing against the SEC so we can beat them worse.

Another reason I retired early from college teaching. :confusion:

Sorry haha. My only excuse (still not a good one) is that it's the last class I need to graduate and it's pretty easy. I've always been more of a teach myself outside of class kind of student.

Is that open dates or actual game availability. In other words those schools could still have open dates, but still have full schedules.

Just because a Saturday is open, does it need to be filled with the game, if they already have a full schedule

Unless you mean that they are missing a game to have a full schedule.

Get Larry Coker and his U of Texas San Antonio team he started from scratch. Would be a great for his school to get pummeled by us. The Cleveland Browns would be good competition for us..lol

Those dates were all marked on FBSchedules.com | College & NFL Football Schedules | 2017 as "TBA." Bye weeks were marked as "off."

To see the actual info you have to search team by team like I did. An example of a bye week is below in Ohio State's schedule:

2018 Ohio State Buckeyes Football Schedule | OSU

An example of a game that is yet to be announced is below in the Miami schedule:

2018 Miami Hurricanes Football Schedule | UM

Now obviously there is only one game on the Miami schedule that hasn't been filled. The rest are conference games which just haven't been announced yet. That's why I qualified it by saying some of these teams on the list above may have scheduled some of the non-con slots already, but they may not have yet announced it to the public.
