OK, some thoughts on the opener....

Here's the problem

our starting secondary from Johnson to redwine to Delaney to Jackson are all slow.... Jackson looks the fastest and he probably is a 4.6 guy

We wer waaay faster in the secondary last year...Diaz was way to ******* cute with all his blitzes... we were out coached .... it was embarrassing watching Delaney try to cover #17 from Bethune... I tried to tell y'all I know we're not back when a transfer from Citadel comes and starts for u... that dude was exposed as a man corner by a wr from Bethune.... he can't play man here he is a strictly zone guy... that was no fluke I was at the game and Dude is trash... he can tackle but dam...

Anyone remember that 2015 Al Golden led squad that pummeled BCC 45-0 in the opener? How'd that turn out? Settle down folks.

Thank you. Who gives a **** about this pre-season game. If they play like **** against Arky State I'll be worried. Until then, settle down.

for what it's worth, bill connelly from football outsiders/sb nation has numbers that say returning production in the secondary is the most important factor in year to year defensive changes. we returned our entire front 7 but because of the way his stats are weighted we only returned 46% of our defensive production, which was the ninth lowest in the country. might be in for some growing pains...

It was an abortion in all phases.

Don't drag Michael Badgley into this. The captain came to play.

Otherwise, yep, this game left me completely flaccid. Rosier is going to frustrate us all year with his inconsistency. The OL is a questionmark until proven otherwise. And the defense better get it's **** together in a hurry. Kick coverage was not great either.

On the bright side, Homer looked legit and Walton is still good.

i thought dee looked great in pursuit, he has the size/athleticism of a power 5 athlete. but that small WR was definitely roasting him. i could see how maybe seeing guys like langham/cager a lot on the outside in our practices may have made him appear better than he is. but like w/ everyone on the defense, we'll see what next week looks like.

aren't u just a ray of sunshine

DLine was the most disappointing thing. Not a championship level DL. Team looks the same as last year, which is inexcusable

Thee Mack Jones...stop posting under several troll accounts you piece of shït...glad to see that you are out of county though

All that subbing sh*t has to stop. Everyone can't play if you are trying to play at a high level of defense other than the dline. It was beyond bad today on defense. The offense looked decent and I was very impressed with the running backs. Im still shocked how bad we played on defense

Will have to be Young and Bandy going forward for big stretches of play if Delaney doesn't improve. Only 1 game so, not hitting the panic button, but we better see some wholesale improvements next week.

Rosier's ability to break the pocket was nice.
Didn't seem like he had any touch on his passes tho.
That long ball to Langham would've been intercepted against a decent team.
Walton and Homer looked really good.
Defensive line and LB's didn't play to expectations.
Bandy made a nice play.
Young made a nice play but then ****ed up big time by running it out of the end zone.
Delaney was underwhelming.
No Herndon.
Hopefully we play to our strengths. (Running the ball) and hopefully our D-Line performs much better.
D-Jax had an awesome sack.
Berrios stood out with catches, blocking, leadership, special teams - all around.

I thought Rosier was better than "Ok"...he actually looked pretty good to me. Threw the ball down the field and attacked the seams. The offense looked ok considering it was the first game.

It's already been discussed ad nauseum but the defense had a bad day. I was sitting field level and I was pretty keyed in on Delaney.....one thing I noticed is he gives too big of a cushion in coverage. His man was open all day. He has a long way to go.

May just be a letdown because of the opponent. The good thing is there's nowhere to hide in game 3. The truth is coming and fast.

I'll say this though you look around college football and a lot of teams have been struggling this week. I expect to see a dominating performance next week though

I'm normally the last to make excuses, but the turf sucked. They just replaced it, what?, yesterday? Promised it would be ready for us, I'd say they f--ked up.

****ty turf like that probably helped Bethune as much as our lackluster effort.
blame it on the turf? Like when Golden blamed it on the rain or it being night or whatever that excuse was?

We play like this vs Arkansas State and we're going 7-5. I thought we were at worse was a 10-2 team.. bruh.. EVEN OUR KICKOFF COVERAGE WAS TERRIBLE. BCU were getting to the 25 or 30 yard line every kickoff..

I saw only four players that knew what the **** they were there for. No, Six.

Rosier, Walton, Homer, Cager, Berrios and Carter.

If Malek Young and Langham had gotten more time in, I'd say they did too.

Manny needs to tighten up - did everyone lay out all night last night?

The only other thing I'll say is that in all my years of watching college football....what we saw today is common, especially when good teams play overmatched opponents early in the year. I'm not going to worry about it yet.

Now if FSU lights us up for 40.....that's a different story. Some of you need to gain a little perspective...football is funny sometimes and quality of opponent really does play a role in how engaged and concentrated guys are.
