Off Topic - Calvin Ridley's Camaro, courtesy of Alabama...

And what role do PEDs play in the $EC? We focus on cars and cash but how likely is it that there is some serious doping going on at some of these school?

I got a feeling that 10-20 years from now there will be stories of sick middle aged men who got PEDs as college players and later developed health consequences because of it.

Are some of you simple or just never been exposed to big business? SEC just made +500M and you feel that the NCAA cares if players get money or cars? And this moderator saying they could be filling out loan applications and getting loans. Do you understand how the banking system works? A kid and the family with little collateral are able to get a loan?!?! In the real word that's not true. What happens is the boosters put up the collateral. Just like anything else in business, follow the money. SEC makes 500M for NCAA means a lot of people are getting fat - NO ONE cares when the money is there.

These kids fill out FAFSAs. Some of them get Pell Grants. That is a grant for lower income students. It is possible these kids get refund checks back. And then they can take school loans out. School is free, so a little loan aint a big deal.

Tony Russell's approves this post.

The naivety in this thread.

Having grown up in a lower middle class family, gone to school at his age while working a full time job, I can tell you there is no way that he is able to afford or obtain a Camaro.

Thems is Alabama specials

At this point there hasnt even been any proof shown it is his Camaro...

Oh brother. Come on now. This isn't the first shot of an Alabama player with a brand new car. You just think he's a Camaro enthusiast?
You are very typical

lol the hate for the SEC runs so deep we now have random accusations of PEDs in the conference.

Posters here should focus a little more on Miami and a little less on crying about the SEC.

Why is it every time a player signs with the $ec, people always assume he got a car, suits, credit cards, cash, an apartment, a job for his family? Guys just love the $ec, it's the best. They'll even adopt you.
We're not talking about Bigfoot or aliens here. Bagmen are very real and their practices have been documented in numerous articles. Here is just one example:

Ridley's car may have very well been paid for by Bama or their boosters. But this is also very possible.

I used to see football players at NIU driving around in Magnums and Chargers when they first became hot. And I know there were no big time players getting cars bought for them by boosters.

sorry for rustling your ******. actually, i'm not sorry.

LSU baseball players and Alabama fb players. I would not be shocked if kids start showing problems years from now and if they do people are gonna wonder why the NCAA and E$PN took the $$$$ and didn't protect these kids.

'Turn it down Richards!!...its a gas guzzler! Stay at home home and play for the []__[]' - a naive me :\

Man I came from a middle class family and when I was 18 I had a decent car but nowhere near brand new.

On top of it I was in school, had a part time job and just enough to make my payments, insurance and gas. Def didn't have the money for rims, tires etc lol

"Roll Chevy Roll"

Yeah, those NCAA guys in Indy are not getting within 50 miles of place...Like Marky Mark would even send them anyway.

Interestingly enough, I get a "Now Hiring" pop up when I hit the site...Used Car department? Al Golden? Match made in Heaven. He can even get Onfrio that elusive job he can't find now...Car wash "specialist." Wario doesn't like spots, use a shamy, Mark!

Big difference. The Ridleys literally come from the gutter. Ahmmon comes from a great family and raised properly. They do not have their hands out. His father will not sell him out like Patrick Peterson.

Man please, poor & middle class kids have their hands out alike. And why does Peterson's dad have to be a sell out?...Tiger Woods dad did the same $h!t, nobody called Him a sell out...same thing with the parents of these tennis & gymnast prodigies. But naaaaah, only basketball & football players get demonized for gettin' what's theirs.

Really? ?? Patrick was dying to come here. His father sold him out for a car, job and house. Yes he whored out his son.

Well I'llllllllll be!...I guess the millions LSU made off His Son's talents, pales in comparison to that "car, job, & house" huh?...LMFAO!!!

The shady part is they get financing like they have A credit with ZERO credit or a co-signer. I was at Lexus when a Cane came through and walked out with an IS200. All the paper work was legit, on the other hand his payments were pretty low. Like loss leader low.

I get what you are saying, I do. I also think shady **** does happen. I just also happen to think this could be happening . . .

Player comes from lower socioeconomic situation. Kid gets Pell Grant due to family income. Kid gets fully ship to school. Kid gets an excess check. Now maybe there are rules against athletes getting Pell and full ship. Kids can still take school loans.

So kid comes in to buy the Camaro. He has $6k to put down either from Pell or school loan. Putting a chunk down can also reduce interest rates even if you have little or no credit.

It's not that easy to get a real car loan. And if you're getting a Pell Grant it's because you're destitute. Destitute people don't get leases or loans for new Camaros especially when they're college kids with no job.

This is blatant cheating right in everyone's face. LOL at the sham that is amateurism and the NCAA.
