MEGA New Miami Adidas Ultraboost🔥 - The Shoe and Nike/Adidas Thread.

Sounds like we can expect a steady supply of NBA players starting to come from more Asian countries.
We’re getting off topic but I’m okay with that as I have a pretty strong opinion on developing basketball talent. I’m an USA purist - our youth play A LOT of games, and I like that. We also train athleticism. In Europe, they are more technical - they play less than half the games and practice skill twice as much as we do with little attention to athleticism. In Asia, they are even more technical, playing less games, with hardly any focus on athleticism.

I’m not bullish on an upcoming Asian talent insurgency, but they can still enjoy the game recreationally and as fans. That’s where the money is anyways imo

Yes I saw something that in Europe they practice 6 days a week and play 1 day. In America they play 3 games and practice 2 or 3 times. This explains why Euros are so much more skilled and sound at times.

With Asia booming via basketball I'd bet we see some players come out, but they would still need development. Same kind of problem with USA soccer. It takes time and academies finding and DEVELOPING players like Europe

Regarding hijacking threads.....these people do it daily and we are helping D pay bills 😂

If you want we can go back bashing Nike and the Nike fanclub here at CIS. That's been fun and I've learned a lot about just how surprising bad Nike is actually doing. Very surprised actually.

Let me add that I’m a purist of the USA way, BUT the games have to be quality and competitive. For example, Miami’s Columbus high school, when the Boozer twins were seniors, they maybe played a few games that were not 30+point blowouts. I think playing a majority of games like this might have contributed to Cayden Boozer’s gaf against UConn in the Elite Eight.

Hard to argue against the success USA basketball has. But the skill euros have added has been great IMO. I have been enjoying the NBA theast couple years. The game is more fun than I ever remember

I still think Miami would look best in Jordan. All the Jordan schools are just meh. Miami would look sick in Jordan cleats imo.

Jordan had swag. Michigan, OU and Florida are not schools that you think of having swag. Miami invented it in CFB. It would be a good pairing.

Agree that Miami would kill it in Jordans but it’s not happening, not in our lifetime anyway, so why torture yourself, get used to that three stripe life 😂

FWIW, the Jordan gear is not as good as the regular nike gear. That's the word on the street, anyhow. And with teams like UNC and UCLA wearing jordan brand, gotta figure that brand is not as strong as it once was.

I’m all for other brands that have been argued here for the average consumer. Running, workout, casual and everything. I think Nike generally has fallen off with sneakers, pricing, tech. But for CFB apparel i still think they hold the edge over others with jersey fit/quality and cleats.

I will always remember the team showing off the adidas swag they got and personally I think it was all bland and super lack luster looking.

Oh and regarding kids preference towards Nike football, Coach D @ Raw Miami did a pod with Pete and is saying kids prefer Adidas. Also said Adidas is way more hands on and aggressive in the 7v7 scene And it would be criminal to go back to Nike. Said Nike is mostly nostalgia via older folks like most of us. Said Nike is workout clothes and kids prefer 3 stripes and it's more fashionable..

Not sure how objective he is as I believe he's sponsored like a lot of the 7v7 teams.
Didn't Pete and Duasso also do a pod once telling us Jerry Jeudy was coming to Miami...

The amount of pro-Adidas propaganda right now is amazing... Pete also laying the Phil Knight / Mario angle after 4 years of Mario and Phil being close and that Nike was the way and Mario will put his foot down.

Just Do It! :devilish:

Another reason y Nike hates Adidas, & no this is not a coincidence.

One of the things I will give Adidas credit for is they started marketing better for their athletes. Nike is just now getting back to that, & we can thank Adidas for pushing them back into that area; HOWEVER, Adidas has a tendency to “borrow” ideas from lesser known/sold Nike sneakers.

The casual fan have no idea of this, & that’s b/c Nike did a really bad job in promoting certain silhouettes, therefore they went under the radar.

Again, Nike sets the template & others copy.

As far as China goes, as I’ve already explicitly explained, @Garnacho added further clarity. However, I will also add Ali Ning stock has dropped; Anta is king of the Greater China area. They r by far Nike’s biggest competitor in this region.

Nike has regained market share in South Korea & Japan, while still having a major stronghold in The Philippines, w/ Adidas trying to push for this market (Unfortunately, Kobe & Steph are the two most popular athletes for them).

But back to my point on China:

From 07/03/2026:

"The company seems to be on the right track in many ways and it didn't really justify a bit of a sell-off today," said Steve Sosnick, chief strategist at Interactive Brokers. "The market's recognizing that there's more good news in the Nike quarter than there is bad news."

CHINA WEAKNESS PERSISTS

Nike expects sales in China to remain under pressure as it works with retail partners to clear excess inventory, outgoing finance chief Matthew Friend said.
Greater China, which accounts for roughly 15% of Nike's annual revenue, is its third-largest market after North America and Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Still, some analysts said there were early signs that Nike's efforts to reset the business in the region were gaining traction, as evidenced by a smaller decline in fourth-quarter sales compared with the company's earlier forecast of roughly a 20% drop.
"Our concerns about declining sales in China and sportswear are offset by inflecting margins," Bank of America analysts said.

🤷🏾‍♂️

But can either of them make those in a .......... clam shell...

I do not care if a brand comes up with a design that could be on display in The Louvre. Nike might be hot today and be the Myspace of shoes tomorrow. Or Adidas could be a laughingstock today and be the most in-demand shoes tomorrow. Good luck predicting what teenagers will like 10 years from now.

I like money. Only thing I need to know is who will give us more money.
