MEGA New Miami Adidas Ultraboost🔥 - The Shoe and Nike/Adidas Thread.

Definitely a member of the CIS Nike fanclub. Do you sleep next to your beloved swoosh at night?

But Adidas has been doing a lot of work on the 7v7 scene with youth football players. So you may be mistaken. I'm not an expert on that particular subject so I don't want to say something I can't verify.

I was supposed to be 'ethered' in this thread by an expert. He had all kinds of secret insider sauces. But hey here I am the data didn't and doesn't lie. Don't start an argument you know you can't win. That was his mistake. That's why I keep saying, go count the Nike running shoes at your clubs. When you know, you know.

Adidas looms large now and we expect Adidas to loom larger later. So what is the point of all the nonsense these people are debating?

But **** you people are waaaaay too emotional about this brand. It's so strange. All kinds of changes are made all the time to shoes and clothing and different models and different design teams. None of the people who worked for Nike when you grew up are likely there now. A lot of this stuff is outsourced and manufactured in Asia at various facilities. Not sure where the emotional connection to a swoosh comes in from all that. I've worn all brands of running shoes and switch it up all the time. If it's good, it's good. This brand loyalty stuff is wild.

You edited this post 4 times. I think it's pretty ******* clear who the emotionally invested party is.

Despite Nike spending way more on marketing, Adidas showing once again it's the more preferred brand right now. Adidas selling more World Cup gear

Sorry CIS Nike fanclub. Data and facts just not on your side.

Props to Adidas for knocking the kits out of the park. I don’t think I saw one that wasn’t really nice. Those retro aways with the trefoils were beauties. Nike pretty much kept the majority of their’s clean and did a great job with all the French kits. I thought Nike had a couple misses. Puma had all misses and I don’t really remember the other brands.

But… This is Adidas’ thing. They’ve been the parter to FIFA for at least the last 50 years. They pay a lot of money for that title. This is their big show and it only comes around every four years. IMO Adidas did a great job but they didn’t really have a choice.

That being said, now it’s completely obvious they Adidas does not put out the same quality and effort into their college football apparel.

Adidas has the edge in soccer usually. I saw another article that Nike is investing a fortune in World Cup marketing and they actually sponsor more teams now.

I guess these are some of the Chinese kicks whooping up on Nike. I believe you mentioned Li Ning to me previously. Some look nice but what happens when a rock or stick gets wedged in that big hole in the bottom? Not nice feelings. Experience has taught me holes and nooks on shoes tend to be a bad idea.......aka On Cloud....

Regarding the $, you can find year old Western brands on sale for less. So cheaper but not exactly crazy discount here.

Oh and regarding kids preference towards Nike football, Coach D @ Raw Miami did a pod with Pete and is saying kids prefer Adidas. Also said Adidas is way more hands on and aggressive in the 7v7 scene And it would be criminal to go back to Nike. Said Nike is mostly nostalgia via older folks like most of us. Said Nike is workout clothes and kids prefer 3 stripes and it's more fashionable..

Not sure how objective he is as I believe he's sponsored like a lot of the 7v7 teams.

Oh no you got me. You and the Nike *****ing champion are 'ethering' me with my number of edits. He's super important and has all kinds of sauces ya know, I was supposed to be afraid. Can't use data so let's use edit counts to prop up the fanclub.

Did you hit your head in the shower, or is it that you don't actually read the articles you post?

"Nike is particularly challenged in its international markets. In North America, Nike is growing—up 5% through the third quarter, where it generates about 45% of sales."

FYI, UM is located in North America.

I won't even ask if you looked up RepTrak or it's wonky "feel, think, do" methodology.
Bro if you are hyped about that 5% wait until you see how well just about every single other apparel company is doing in North America. CIS Nike fanclub has a pathetically low bar. '5% we are saved, it's not negative, woo hoo we still important'. I've already posted the data. 5% is basically the worst sales in North America by anyone not named Puma.

I had to take a shower but here you go. The Nike fanclub keeps making the mistake of making an argument based on your heart and not data. I want Miami to rob one of these companies in a negotiation. That's all. I just keep posting data. Simple data. The data is looking good for Adidas so most of the comments in this thread don't match reality. Like I said Adidas is the more exciting/growing brand. I saw this data before I said it. The fanclub just keep trying tho. The club just can't deal with Adidas positivity.

Adidas is the #2 brand in the world in reputation by RepTrak. Nike has slipped to 50. Now I'm not too unrealistic to acknowledge 50 is still pretty good and likely why Nike just needs to stop making dumb decisions.

Nike fanclub is stressed up in here.

I hope your bunion gets better.

I generally don't wear Nike, bunions aren't an issue here. Maybe for the fanclub and it's Queen? You can be like everyone else and switch brands.......should improve.
You're the one with the ad in his screenshot. I mean, you could be searching for some pretty ****ed up ****, but personally, I'd just say I had a bunion.

Anta and Li-Ning are doing very well in China. Anta is definitely number one in the casual running market. The thing they both did very well is they went in very heavy into the smaller cities and towns where no western shoe company ever went. There are hundreds of these towns/cities in China. Anta and Li-Ning literally built thousands of stores here. Nike (or any Western brand) had none. No western brand saw the boom coming this soon from these smaller cities. Anta and Li-Ning did.

Worth noting that Table tennis is the national sport and badminton is the most popular casual adult activity. Both have specific shoes. This used to be dominated by Japanese and Taiwanese companies and Li-Ning went in hard and now sponsor the national teams of both sports.

As far as insight I can add, I can speak of basketball. In the US/Canada most basketball is played indoors. Most basketball shoes are made exclusively for indoor courts where traction is very important because all courts get dusty. In China, basketball blew up but they play outdoors. An indoor basketball shoe’s outsole will get obliterated on an outdoor court. Anta and Li-Ning focused on making outdoor basketball shoes with different levels of quality and price points. I personally think this is why they killed it. Nike (nor Adidas) had many options for quality outdoor basketball shoes.

But my biggest gripe with Nike is this - the most popular shoe in the NBA are still early Kobe’s (4,5,6). Nike just “Protros” (Performance Retro) them. The issue here, imo, is Protro-ing has limitations because you obviously have to keep properties of the silhouette to keep it “retro” and since it's a retro, they aren't going to manufacture them to them levels of sigs like Jas. These Kobes are also extremely popular with collectors, which makes them almost impossible to cop with out paying 2-5x to a reseller which now throws in the risk of getting a fake. One could say Nike has no incentive to upgrade materials on these because they well sell out at any price point in seconds regardless.

Jalen Brunson was recently asked if he would want a signature shoe and he said he would prefer a lifetime supply of Kobes - that says a lot imo. What Anta, Li-Ning, SPO, Volante, 361, and more are doing is taking the Kobes and making them for all price points, all surfaces, and giving them differentiation.

But at the end of the day, it's still a copy of Nike shoes and everyone knows it. If Nike can get a gameplan together they could take the Asia basketball market back over imo.

Lots of great info. Yeah I've read something about the Chinese shoes having better grip and better durability. Logically though it's going to be tough for Nike to recover the market share here because once it's gone it's gone. My whole life Nike is always nailed the innovation with Nike Air and cushioning and such. They may need to nail it again.

Regarding basketball, even if you are right about “once it’s gone, it’s gone”, that would only apply to China. There’s still the rest of Asia that is pretty much untapped.

The Philippines now hold the NBA’s largest engagement numbers. They have recently become the most basketball crazy country in the world. The challenge here is their median income is very modest. The Philippines is more populated than any European country and they are extremely young. They will be a Top 10 populated country very soon and probably the youngest.

Basketball has been booming in Japan since they co-hosted the 2023 World Cup and their pro league is extremely well run with attendance growing very rapidly.

Basketball is on the uptick in both South Korea and Taiwan where baseball has been king. South Korea’s pro league is getting more popular every year.

Indonesia co-hosted the 2023 World Cup with Japan. They are the 4th largest population on Earth. Since 2023 basketball has grown very rapidly with the youth. It is now a top 3 youth sport with badminton and soccer. In Jakarta it will be the most popular sport very soon imo. This is a massive potential market. Li-Ning will have an advantage here do to the familiarity of their badminton gear.

India is the most populated country on the planet and over half of their population is under 30. The NBA had some games in Mumbai about 5 years ago but it didn’t really take off. India has obvious issues and the powers-that-be are very protective of cricket being the main sport. But it’s still a massive potential untapped market.

Sounds like we can expect a steady supply of NBA players starting to come from more Asian countries.
