And Guidry who has done a nice job, we generate ZERO pressure on QBs. He blitzed late in the fourth and generated some on back to back possessions but this **** needs to stop - we need to hit these QBs early and we just aren’t. Can’t just keep saying oh a true freshman is held every play or else we would have a million sacks.
The problem is this will keep being a problem because Cristobal isn't able to fix it with recruiting. QB is shaky? Do we have a 5 star QB waiting in the wings? No, we have Williams and Judd. How many times have fans said, "We'll get a portal QB" like the best ones aren't going to pick another a program.
How about pressure up the middle from the DTs, which can wreck offenses? We went 0 for 4 with the top 10 DTs and it McCray says no, it will be 0 for 5. And again the Cristo-bros say, "Don't worry, we'll get a DT from the portal." And if that doesn't work, "Don't worry, Big Joe is a better recruiter than he gets credit for and Highsmith will find the underrated 3 stars."
I fear we're going to sitting here in 2026 complaining that UM can't generate any pressure from the interior DL and that UM doesn't have a championship caliber QB.
I would have hope if I could see that Cristobal is addressing the problems. But for the 2nd cycle in a row, I don't think Cristobal has made any improvements in recruiting those two areas.
And lastly, if Cristobal is building a new culture, then why are players still chirping after making tackles? Yes the refs should have let it go, but Flagg should have just done his job and walked back to the huddle. The constant penalties, special team miscues, etc are largely due to poor coaching.
All that said, it's not over for Cristobal. It just means the suck tax is now sky high. Money can fix most of the problems. Scotts mom wants him near home? Then try doing it the Bama way with Tua and moving the entire family and setting them up with no show jobs. High school kids will look past a lot if they have the chance to be filthy rich.
[BGCOLOR=initial]I've done all I [/BGCOLOR][BGCOLOR=initial]can with supporting the program. I am not rich enough to give millions to NIL. Now it's up to the billionaires who insisted that Cristobal was the right coach to clean up this train wreck, and to UM to find ways of shifting more money to recruiting. If that means taking 50 million from UM Hospital profits and moving it to NIL, then do it. I want to see the school and the donors put so much money towards recruiting that Cristobal can't fail.
