We've played VT uninterrupted for 30 years straight. Now we're not because Duke and UNC run our conference.
Truth.

I thought Jim Phillips might be different. Strike 1.If the 4 NC schools all played each other, it would at least make historical sense. But UNC wanted to keep UVA, and the resulting butterfly effect for every other school is why everything else is the way it is.
Exactly. If we actually start winning the cot**** conference then EVERYONE essentially will become a "rival".No complaints here
Win the games
Win the **** conference and go playoffs hunting
Yup. I would’ve thought for sure VT and FSU each year. I wanted those 2 and UNC.Not playing the Hokies every year is going to be really strange
Who knows what any of those 4 teams look like by then. In 2 years Napier may have UF looking like FSU (assuming he continues to struggle with recruiting), ND may struggle post Kelly (How confident are you Freeman will keep ND afloat? ****, Kelly seemingly looked to drop 2 or 3 games a year he had know business losing and Kelly is much more experienced than Freeman), Clemson may struggle to replace the talent from their recent staff losses.2024 schedule is absolutely brutal - @UF, @ND, @Clemson, @ Louisville, @Wake
That's ridiculous lol.
There will always be an issue with either way of scheduling, just as simple as that. I mean it is no different than there always being an issue with how the final 4 are selected for the CFP.Disparity in scheduling on a year to year basis. Some teams will have an easy/difficult road to the top 2 compared to the rest of the conference. Divisions had flaws but it was somewhat equal since 6/8 games were the same.
Tiebreakers- In 2023 for example let’s say Clemson runs the table and us and WF are both 7-1. We didn’t play them so who gets in? Based on common opponents? I don’t like the potential of not having H2H tiebreakers especially combined with disparity in schedules. You could have crazy 3 way ties within divisions but at least you had a chance to beat the teams before it goes to asinine tiebreakers.
I do like that it’s pretty much guaranteed to have a quality matchup in the title game. Only positive for me. The idea of playing Syracuse instead of GT or Wake instead of UNC doesn’t move the needle much for me at this point.
