I just heard this on ACC network...

Good lord you folks on CIS are dense. His D cord was hired by Mizzou so, he's trying to recover from that this year, yet he's still undefeated, beat Ole ****, and is still rolling. Yes he's got pillars and bull****, but at least he's won the AAC, won AAC Coach of year, Beat BYU in bowl game and turned around a dreadful program. El Foldo has done jack ****.

14 straight wins with inferior talent. Took down an SEC Big Boy. Played Ole Miss and UCLA hard as **** last year. Developed a no-star QB into an NFL draft pick. Top 3 receivers on the team were walk-ons...all now All Conference candidates.

You guysm are right, he's exactly like Golden.

Might as well keep Golden, Fuente doesn't play defense either. RIP Miami.

I swear we have the dumbest fans.

42-28 vs 3-3 Tulsa right now. Career record of 23-20. Who does that sound like?
You realize Memphis beat the same Cincinnati team that clobbered Golden's team, right? And let me know when Al Golden beats a highly ranked SEC team.

When did I say Golden was good? Is trading one self-promoted dope for another overhyped one, plus paying a huge buyout really a win? I thought we needed a sure thing when Golden gets fired? Also, this guy plays the same passive zone defense that we all hate. Tonight I've seen 2 and 3 man fronts. Do we really want that? Or do we want a 4 man front to best utilize our talent?

He not only lost his DC and another assistant from last year, but he lost a bunch of starters from that unit.
Totally wiped with just a handful of starters returning.

And they did play aggressive defense last year.

Check out video from last season when they played UCLA.

From Fuente's bio:

Fuente's team continues to be built on four pillars - 1) Academic Integrity, 2) Social Responsibility, 3) Individual Accountability and 4) Competitive Excellence.

One of the first items Fuente put in place upon being named the head football coach at the University of Memphis was "The Tiger Code." The code consists of three elements - 1) Fundamentally Sound, 2) Physically Fit and 3) Mentally Tough.

In addition to instilling the Tiger Code and installing a new off-season conditioning program, Fuente selected 10 student-athletes to form his first leadership council. The group best exemplified being student-athletes and living by the Tiger Code. During Fuente's first season, the group of leaders served as a conduit between the coaching staff and the team.

It's telling that 5 years under Golden has me cringing at the mention of pillars, 'codes', new conditioning programs, and leadership councils.

If he called them columns, would you feel better?

Slightly, yes.

The legacy of Golden's **** coaching has scarred me emotionally worse than a Penn State shower.

I like Fuente but I don't like him as our first option.

He is still cutting his teeth and we really can't afford any question marks on this next hire.

This next hire will decide the long term fate of UM football. Ironically it's the most important hire since Butch left.

This is not a trivial hire.

I don't understand how he is still cutting his teeth. What more should he be doing at Memphis?

1. Take an inferior program with inferior talent and beat the competition, check.

2. Win 10 games in a season, check.

3. Win the conference, check.

4. Run off 14 straight wins, 8 on the road, check.

What more do you want him to do? Be specific.

Okay, so he only beat some lame teams by a low score but he beat them with MEMPHIS. They were trash. Although, I don't like his defense right now, they were better last year with a different DC that left for a bigger job. I fully trust that Fuente is smarter than Golden and won't bring a Memphis level coordinator with him. That should be in the hiring conversation, you can come here but get a real DC.

I will let him know that according to KevinCaneFace he can have the job as long as he brings a "real DC". We can't bring a coach who wants an fake DCs.

It's going to be an absolute madhouse here when Miami passes over young offensive-minded candidates (Herman/Fuente) and the immensely popular Butch Davis to go with the presumed frontrunner (Chud), who would likely come cheap, won't be coveted by any other program in the country, and won't move the needle with the recruiting base.

Absolute madhouse.

i dont want Fuente. his team doesnt play good defense. i dont like these guys who just try and outscore people. I want Butch, Stoops, or then maybe Herman
A part of this fan base deserves an inept football program. The same fans that will give golden every excuse possible think Fuente isn't good enough. Couldn't make it up if you tried

My first choice is Kiffin with Cristobal as his fluffer.

Go get a job in a Power 5 conference and repeat the previous 4. Then we'll take a real hard look at him in 5 years when Butch retires.

Dude, I'm sorry I didn't write in bigger letters and smaller words for you. But if you get somebody to read it for you, they'll point out that it clearly says "That should be in the hiring conversation..."

I'd throw in the towel. Chud and schiano are such lazy hires that I don't think I could continue to torture myself by following this program. It's so uninspiring and lazy it would be down right depressing

This is what the great coaches.
Look at Urban Meyer as he went from Bowling Green to Utah to u**** to Ohio State.....he brought 3 or 4 of his (presumably) best coaches with
him on every move, and then augmented that core of coaches with assistants who were better fits to the new gig. Never did he take an entire
staff.
That is what I expect (hope) Fuente - or whomever the new coach is - to do if/when we hire a new HC.

But this is also dependent on what sort of commitment ($$$$$) UM brings to the table.

AAC is as much if not more of a power 5 than the ACC is right now. They did just beat Ole Miss and I have zero doubt they would demolish every single ACC team not named Clemson or FSU for talent disparity reasons. I think he's already accomplished the power 5 thing without having to be in a power 5.

I don't think some of you idiots realize how bad Memphis was when Fuente took over. Please google Larry Porter.
