Hurricanes coach Mark Richt on quarterback situation: ‘Malik is the starter’

Again, maybe pulling him for Sheriffs is different than pulling him for a much more talented guy regardless of his class/age.

Going to the bullpen to an youngster saved Saban a national title.

Rosier has hardly earned sacred cow status
Thank you, proves my point overwhelmingly

In that case, I look forward to not hearing from you until 2019...since there's no need to even watch this season.

Unless, you know, it's not. We've seen nothing to suggest that the QBs Richt has recruited are not quality players. Both Jarren and Kosi were very high on a lot of boards, and have huge amounts of potential. We've been a **** show for 15 straight years. Richt walks in the door and lands two top level QBs. He didn't even get to recruit for the full 2016 cycle, but when he got here, Kosi was the top rated QB recruit still in play, and Richt got him to ink the paper.

Unfortunately Kosi didn't get here though until about this time last season, barely in time for fall camp, and Jarren just got here in the spring.

This is not a Kelly Brooks taking over for a departing DeShaun Watson. Jalen Hurts took over an already established dynasty after the departure of Jake Coker.

These freshmen you speak of aren't walking in and taking the jobs of Rs.Jrs. and Sr. They're just the next man up in an established dynasty program that already has a dominant defense and ready-made offense where they're not requiring the QB to do anything special.

By all reports, Malik Rosier has put in the work to prove his doubters, Mark Richt included, wrong. CMR and company have developed a guy who probably never would have started in any other P5 program into the Miami single season record holder in TD's and yards in just one season.

I'm seeing nothing wrong with QB development and recruiting. All evidence so far leads me to believe that Rosier has pushed himself to be better than he was last season, a season that had us #2 in the CFP at one point, and also that the young guys are learning how to be a QB, a leader, and an adult both on and off the field, so when they're moment does arrive, we won't fall off. We'll be better.

Serious question: Are there examples of college QBs (let's say in the last 10 years) who were not starting by their RS freshman year, yet became NFL QBs? I can't think of any off the top of my head.

Just this year's Super Bowl winner, Nick Foles. Off the top of my head...but I'm sure he's the only one.

But of course, the discussion isn't whether Rosier is an NFL QB. The question seems to be more of whether anybody else on the Miami roster is a college QB.

Finley from NC State. Tom Brady. Jesse Palmer. Just off the top of my head

The point is that if a QB is going to be really good, in the current era he's very likely starting by RS freshman year.

Mitch Trubisky immediately jumps to mind.

Kirk Cousins didn't start until his redshirt soph year. I'll stop here, there's obviously numerous examples.

I'll be waiting to hear from everyone after the LSU game when Blowsier yet again misses wide open receivers all game long.
Berrios, Herndon, and Langham bailed than man out on multiple **** throws every game by make circus catches. Well, Berrios and Langham are goners, the circus aint in town anymore.
Make sure to include how he was so game ready and obviously our best choice in your assessment of him after the game.

That's the biggest problem I have with Rosier - he simply misses on too many routine plays/throws. And because of that this offense last year had major lulls in terms of putting together drives and moving the chains.

So. Not that you're right...plenty of guys don't start until their Sophomore or Junior season, but even so, what in God's creation does that have to do with us? Our Freshmen and Redshirt Freshmen have not managed to wrestle the job from a Rs. Senior that's 11-3, played in our 1st ever ACCCG, and the 1st NY6 bowl in, what? 10 or 12 years?

Oh and he also holds the single season record for yards and TD's.

Am I, or Richt, supposed to disregard that because he didn't start until his Junior year?

You don't really have a point. The idea that because he wasn't able to beat out Kaaya??? Don't he hold a few records of his own?

Why don't he get a chance to improve on a decent season? Because you fear that your guy ain't shlt if he ain't starting before he's a Sophomore?

******* petty.

Rosier isn't beating Clemson. If the other QBs can't beat out Rosier, then that puts us in the same position we were in last season...best case scenario being an ACCCD title and no playoffs.

“Rosier isn’t beating Clemson.” Because He didn’t last year without his top three playmakers. So obviously he can’t improve, Clemson can’t be worse or get hit with injuries, our team can’t get better. None of that can happen.

Like I said before. If you've already written us off for this season, grab your bottom lip and pull it over your head until 2019.

You still here?
