Doesn't make sense

Coaching and culture, for sure.

Those Clemson kids, they just drink up whatever the **** nonsense Dabo spews out. But you have to admit, it works. Whether it's money, the facilities, the town....something makes those kids really buy into the program and STAY when they could easily transfer out, go to the NFL, or in the staff's sake, take another job.

What the **** is Brent Venables still doing there? Jeff Scott FINALLY just got poached off that staff, but they've got good coaches and a good culture. How the fvck do you have 4 kids on the same DL all project as possible first round picks, and ALL of them come back the next year. At Miami, if you tell a kid he's allowed to watch the draft on TV he declares.

So it's absolutely coaching, yes. But he's also somehow built a culture there (which makes me sick as he's baptizing kids on the 50 yard line) that makes kids want to stay, makes coaches want to stay, and they are ALL bought into Clemson first and themselves second. I'm just not sure the kids in Florida are built like that, for the most part. Of course there's exceptions. But the kids don't even take visits after they commit, and they turn down first round money to stay in that boring *** town? And nobody has been able to pry anyone off his staff for multiple years? Crazy.
Good stuff.

Dabo, for all his corniness, built that winning culture from scratch. “Clemsoning” used to be a thing. And Clemson players were notoriously soft and unmotivated and regularly took opponents lightly and took games off.

Now, they’re one of the mentally toughest programs in football, and that didn’t happen by accident or coincidence. It happened because of leadership and Dopey Dabo making it happen.

LOL mane. That's pretty funny.

You also forgot to mention Clemson has had one of the best QBs (arguably the best player) in the nation for 5 out of the last 7 years. That could have something to do with their offensive production. Now does it make some sense as to why they would have a top offense?
Clemson made the playoffs with a ****** WR playing QB. Same guy, who with two additional years of experience and maturity, just got Barry Odom fired.

The guy took over a mediocre team that hadn't won the ACC in 19 years and has made them into the top program in college football. And you're still in denial trying to convince yourself that he's "nothing special"? OK then.

Apparently you missed the part where the program actually started taking off, if you think it was because of dabo's coaching ability, here you go man:

It’s why the whole “Miami guy” thing is a ***king sham and should never be uttered again

If a Kyle Whittingham wanted to come to Miami you don’t tell him no because he doesn’t “fit in”

In an 11 year time frame (2019-2009) Clemson has had 7 top 25 scoring offenses while Miami has had ZERO.

Yet Clemson has not had a single first round offensive linemen drafted and only TWO offensive linemen drafted in that time frame.

Miami? Has had a first round offensive lineman and a total of EIGHT offensive linemen drafted in that time frame.

The offensive struggles blamed solely on the offensive line talent seriously took a hit no? I think it's safe to say coaching matters, development matters and system fit is imperative.

Sounds like around the same time Chad Morris bought his version of spread to clemson. They were smart enough to adopt it earlier this decade and after he arrived they were on upward trend. That system helped them recruit better players and they broke all types of records.. I remember them having 3k passer and 1k rusher and receiver, which was a big feat at the time.. That offense attracted Qb Watson early, he was probably committed before Richt even knew him..

I been saying this shid for years!!

Thank you. Trying to tell yall an Oline is only as good as the playcalling and system employed.

If the plays are predictable and the defense knows what's coming it doesn't matter how much talent you have.

"Coaching ability" for a head coach, is more comprehensive than you seem to think it is. It's about managing a complex operation that includes public PR, fans, influential boosters, recruiting, hiring the right assistants, and keeping everyone happy and motivated. Getting the right people at the university to understand the level of committment and resources that are necessary to be at an elite level. Creating the right environment where every person is fully invested in excellence and not letting complacency set in. Don't let his accent and manner fool you. He's a lot smarter than many seem to think.

Rich Rod brought the spread to Clemson when no one was running the spread.

Yea they had some success with with Woodrow Dantzler.. Cant believe I still remember that name.. Probably one of the offenses that got me loving how they could light up scoreboards as a youngn

Edit: Just looked it up, seems woodrow was 1st in ncaa to throw for 2,000 while rushing for 1,000 yards

Rich Roid worked his typical miracles with Woody The Wino Dantzler. That dude couldn’t throw the ball for ****, but Rich Roid coaxed some decent throw numbers out of him.

Since 2014
Miami 11 skill position players drafted (3WRs, 3TEs, 3RBs, 1FB, 1QB).
Clemson 12 skill position players drafted (7WRs, 1TE, 2RBs, 2QBs)

OL + Skill players drafted since 2014
Miami 16 (5 since '14)
Clemson 13 (1 OL 2014)

Total Offense since 2014 (2019 - backwards)
Miami #90,#105, #60,#57, #67, #47
Clemson, #3, #3, #38, #12, #11, #61.

Both teams have comparable talent drafted into the NFL, yet in college Clemson in terms of offense blows Miami away.
Where is the disconnect?

its a pretty nice gig, great salaries, perks plenty of support staff was well and a university that is committed to winning.
If Clemson had to list all their support staff in the program it would an extra 2.00$ to sell price at game.....

In the last 10 years Clemson has had:

QB's
Tahj Boyd
Deshaun Watson
Trevor Lawrence

Check out how good Clemson was in 2010 (6-7) before Tahj Boyd took over in 2010 (10-4)
Check out how the 10-3 2014 Clemson team got blown out by Georgia & GT by 20+ when they played Cole Stoudt instead of Deshaun Watson
Check out how Deshaun Watson put up 40 on Alabama in 2015 & 35 in 2016, Kelly Bryant put up 6 on Alabama in 2017, and Trevor Lawrence put up 44 on Alabama in 2018

In the last 10 years they've had 3 QB's that are way better than anyone we've had since Ken Dorsey and 5 WR's that are way better than anyone we've had since Andre Johnson.

QB's move the needle the most. WR's & RB's move the needle WAY MORE than OL & TE's

The disconnect comes when only looking at numbers

There's a world of difference between DeAndre Hopkins and Phillip Dorsett
There's a world of difference between Deshaun Watson and Brad Kaaya

Our numbers are similar - our talent is nowhere close.
