Derion Kendrick in the portal

To me, it’s about standards. Clemson built their dynasty by keeping high standards for character.

When Kendrick didn’t meet the standard, they kicked him out. If you’re always making exceptions you don’t really have a standard.
Is the Clemson blueprint the only one that we must follow or can be followed to reach the place that we want to be?

We hear manny always use the talking point of “competition on green tree”. I see a talent deficient corner room in need of more juice & a talented corner. We just hired a guy like T Rob that should be able to command the respect of this kid with his laundry list of NFL DB’s. It’s a one year rental that could drastically improve the quality of the DB room.

We can talk about guys that “do it the right way” & “gruden grinder’s” that fit a certain “culture” all day but once the ball is snapped, talent tends to win out.

Ohio St, Alabama, Clemson pass around the natty between each other every year because they’re usually just flat out better than everyone else. They all have their own blueprints but the one thing that connects them all is talent accumulation. Kendrick should be a no brainer take.

There’s not single championship team in recent college football history that didn’t have a few knuckleheads on their team.

Bama, LSU, Clemson, even the OH St squad that beat Oregon in the first annual CFP all had players with character issues on their team, you don’t have to have a locker room full of missionaries in order to win in college football.

This is Miami not BYU, as long as he’s not harming/assaulting women or body bagging mf’s Aaron Hernandez style, then fck it, take a 1 year flyer on an immensely talented Corner, it’s not like we couldn’t use him lol
shidd Hernandez got them boys a ring. If somebody gotta get murked for us to be back I aint telling.

Man Hernandez had a lot of issues that predates his time at UF. Issues that followed him from his youth to his Time in the pros. If you’ve never listened to the Gladiator podcast you should. Cat just had a lot of **** he was dealing with. Doesn’t excuse the **** he was involved in but working with kids you go through similar **** taught/teaches me that f you don’t nip that **** in the bud early anyone can go through a crazy path in life...that said bring me this kid from Clemson ASAP

They also kicked him out because they have the luxury to do so. Idk what Kendrick did in Clemson but I have a weird feeling if Clemson had the depth we have at CB then Dabo may a little more tolerant with Kendrick.

Also, Clemson’s standards should not be the same as ours. It’s apples and oranges. They have other resources to make up for losing a talent like this, we don’t.

The culture talk from Diaz lacks so much substance it’s not even funny. Winning cures all. Need more dogs if you want to win with the big boys.

Maybe a change of scenery is what the kid needs.

Maybe he didnt fit into Dabo's system. That doesnt mean he wouldnt fit into Manny's. Lets not kid ourselves, Manny is no Dabo when it comes to being a disciplinarian.

It’s do or die for manny this yr

if manny doesn’t produce this yr we will run him out of coral gables

this dude is a take end of story !!!!

Yet you don’t hear about kids getting in trouble here so he must be doing something right.

It amazes me how some people say be like Saban and Dabo here, then forget it the moment a potential shortcut appears. Especially one that they’ll second guess the instant it doesn’t work out.

Nothing “we” do will have an iota of effect on Manny’s job status.

Lots of talk about this on Clemson board-

- Kendrick has been a "challenge" since he enrolled. This past year he was suspended for several games for numerous offenses (missing meetings, lateness, and some other unnamed stuff). In general, he was a big distraction and didn't seem to take it seriously. Especially at the end of the season. Most of their fans were surprised and frustrated by his behavior and lack of focus last season given he has family responsibilities (children) and was thought to be heading to the league.

- Not many expected him back for 2021; he apparently was hoping to improve draft stock.

- He was well liked by the team and a group of them approached Sweeney this time and tried to get him to change his mind. They were obviously unsuccessful.

The general consensus by their 247 reporters is that Dabo reached the limit of his patience and was not going to let Kendrick be a distraction this season. They have lots of bodies but most are young and untested. Those with seniority have injury issues or have also been in the doghouse with Sweeney in the past too.

Keep him on a short leash. Getting Kendrick would be a major upgrade from last season’s cb room

Yeah we should take this headache cause for some here “Manny needs to be like Dabo!!!” applies until you flash a shiny object in front of them.

Alabama and Ohio State aren't taking these kids, either.

This is not a player who just wants to transfer, or got in trouble with the school for some off-field mistake. Dabo kicked him out because he thought he had become detrimental to the team and their pursuit of a championship.
