Fully disagree. The "taditionally" part that you began that sentence with is why it's wrong. Sure traditionally that is the case. Traditionally doesn't apply today. Today, DEs move around a lot more - especially following the offensive strength/TE. So unless we are an offense that for some reason is putting the TE on the Right 60% of the time, there will basically be no difference. And defenses should absolutely be smart enough to move a DE around to create best matchups. Also I'd bet almost every top EDGE in the country/NFL would be listed primarily as a LE, not RE, which would match them up against the RT.
The two largest OT contracts in the NFL right now are Tristan Wirfs and Penei Sewell, both of whom are/were RTs (Wirfs played his first 4 years at RT, then switched to LT last year). And pretty sure the reason they switched Wirfs to LT was they lost their LT to FA, and they had Luke Goedeke in line to become starter - and he was also a RT. And he had moved from TE to RT at Central Michigan, and that's all he's ever played. So I don't even think Wirfs moving was for the "traditional" reason either, I think it was literally because they trusted him being able to play both more than Goedeke.
The only reason to be swapping LT/RT is for what the actual player is more comfortable with especially since they usually play one side like their entire college career and to get the best 5 on the field.
