Coaching search update

At the end of the day, Strong's record at UT is inexcusable. While he is better than Chud, Schiano and Cristobal, that shouldn't be the criteria for selecting the new coach.

It takes a lot of mental gymnastics to conclude that Strong should be a legitimate candidate for a Miami program on life support

Michael Irvin was on Mike and Mike this morning talking about the kick-off return and coaching search. When asked about Butch Davis in his age Irvin paused for a second. Didn't sound like he wants Butch or he knows that Butch isn't coming. Also said that Butch is the fans favorite, but not everybody else.

Michael's also the guy that was behind Golden the whole time and asked fans to be patient, so as far as this coaching search is concerned he can go **** himself.

This coaching search bs is killing my excitement for Hurricanes football after I regained it the moment F A G was fired.. Who ever Miami hires whether I like him or not, I hope he succeeds cause I'm tired of schit football.. Should never happen in Miami, IMO.

1. Butch
2. Richt
3. Rich Rod
4. Fuente
5. Herman
6. Shula
7. Venables
8. Chud
9. Schiano
10. Strong

I doubt he knows if Butch is coming or not

. . . He recruited south florida bc Miami was in shambles Clint Hurtt was his recruiting coordinator. If you are hiring a coach b/c he landed some local kids using a guy who now has a show cause, you need to reevaluate what exactly you think makes a coach successful.

And I could be wrong, but other than TB (who fell into his lap after TB's Shannon de-commitment), didn't Strong basically live off of 3-star recruits that UM/FSU/UF didn't want and/or had academic/off-filed issues? Nothing wrong with that, but doesn't mean he's a great recruiter either if he was never really battling the big boys.

I see that Belloti built that program for Chip to have the success he had. Strong had to build up Louisville from scratch and has to do the same at Texas.... completely different circumstances.

And plz don't say anything about Texas having 8 wins when Mack was fired. It was clear to everyone that Texas was no longer a program that can compete in their own division let along nationally, which is why he was fired.

You need to read more thoroughly.

Oregon was averaging 8.3 wins per season under Bellotti. That jumped to 11.5 wins under Kelly. This is a DRAMATIC increase and the results are obvious.
Kelly brought Oregon to another level, something Bellotti could never scratch.

Of course don't say that (about Mack Brown) because he was easily exceeding Strong's win total by a lot. Mack's winning percentage in his final 2 seasons (.653%) and Strong's winning percentage in his first 21 games (.429%). Mack was fired because he didn't have success anymore at UT. Strong is currently doing worse, by a lot.

Strong is cleaning up the mess Mack left him, the reason why Texas is where it's at now is bc that's the direction that team was already headed before Strong got there.
LOL.

You were probably one of those dopes who swore Shannon had to clean up Coker's mess and then swore Golden had to clean up Shannon's mess, only to turn around and say **** them both.

The "mess" at Texas is still superior to anyone Iowa State trots out on the field.

Didn't Jim Harbaugh have to clean up Brady Hoke's mess? If his punter didn't pull a buckner he would have them in the top 10 right now.

Your suggestion is to pair a first time OC with a defensive minded coach? How does this help us on offense?

Dorsey is a rising star. Cam Newton is the talk of the NFL and he is playing smart. Offensive coordinator at a big school is the logical next step for him. The fit with Kaaya is obvious.

Kapernick has a better qb rating than Cam. If I'm not mistaken, Cam is having his worst year and is only completing 54% of his passes.

Using Cam to support Dorsey is a very poor argument.

Cam is currently the league MVP if the season ended today. His top receivers are...and no I'm not making this up...Greg Olsen, Ted Ginn, Devin Funchess. In that order. His running backs are Jonathan Stewart's corpse and Mike Tolbert. Carolina's record is 7-0.

NFL MVP? Are you guys high?

Brady has 20 TDs and 1 INT, Cam has 11 TDs 8 INTs

What is this fascination with bringing back incompetent ***** from UM's most inglorious years? What the fck is with this Fish fixation?

Lulz.

The fans want Butch + Butch is available + Butch wants to be in Miami + Butch is a proven winner + Butch will sell tickets = Hire Butch

Lulz.

Harbaugh just ended this conversation! Whether fair or not new coaches are going to be getting a much shorter time-table to turn things around.

When Carter or somebody mumbled Herman, Irvin got excited saying that we need to get back to that Miami style of football, and we need a coach to bring back that Miami brand of football. Oh yeah him and Vilma have a say at the next corch

He seemingly didn't know Golden was out until after we did. I dunno. Nothing against him as it's probably smart for him but sometimes Mike acts like a politician or Switzerland when pressed on certain things about the program. I bet we don't see him come out strong for anyone pre-hire.

Why settle for Charlie Strong when we have a legit shot at Charlie Strongest.

Make Miami Macho Again!

He also has a kid who is getting recruited by UM, so he isn't going to say anything that would jeopardize that.

What Harbaugh is doing isn't new.

Carroll won big in year 2 at USC. Urban in year 2 at UF and year 1 at OSU. Saban in year 2 at Bama. McElwain has turned UF around instantly. Brian Kelly won 12 games at ND in year 3.

Any elite coach at a major program should be able to see near immediate results. 3 years is like the longest you will see for a major program to turn around when given a great coach.

Irvin's right about needing to restore an exciting brand. He mentioned it before when he talked about not needing a "Miami man."

And as much as everyone (myself included) likes Butch, that's far and away the biggest concern with him. He's only coached 4 of the last 10 years and UNC's offenses were absolutely putrid. He botched that OC hire (John Shoop) and stuck with him for four years. It was a slow paced, conservative, unexciting, unproductive offense throughout his entire tenure with the Tar Heels.

If Butch plans to hire an innovative young offensive mind to run a much more dynamic attack than what we saw at UNC, then that would be excellent.
