Coaching search update

You guys need to stop worrying about experince all the time. When a guy can coach he can coach. Urban meyer was never a oc, art briles never a oc, dabo was never a oc and was the wr coach at clemson before he got the job.

Herman has only been a hc for half a season and people want him to run the program, but dorsey can't be oc?

Best thing about this post = money not an issue.

Worst= Charlie Strong

Those who think Strong is a bad option but Herman and Fuentes are great options, i cant take seriously.

Those who think Chip Kelly wouldn't have more success at UT then Strong I can't take seriously.

Chip Kelly won how many national championships at Oregon?? Unlike Herman at Houston, Strong wasn't gift wrapped a loaded team in a weak conference.

If Chip Kelly was at Texas you'd be talking about how Chip he needs more time to build his team up.
Chip was winning 10+ games a year with 2&3 star players.

Chip was averaging 11.5 wins per year.

Kapernick has a better qb rating than Cam. If I'm not mistaken, Cam is having his worst year and is only completing 54% of his passes.

Using Cam to support Dorsey is a very poor argument.

Have you watched Cam? He's an MVP candidate.

His numbers are low because he is surrounded by bums. Ted Ginn dropping a perfect pass last night sums up what he's dealing with. And his biggest improvement has been decision-making, which speaks well of Dorsey.

He's an MVP candidate because that team is doing well. They have the second best running game (8 yards from the first) and a top 10 defense in the league. Ryan Fitzpatrick is having a better season than him.

I'd support Dorsey for OC, but it has nothing to do with Cam.

So D$, no mention of Mario at all? If true, that pleases me but can you confirm? Is he not being considered at all or is he at best a "plan D" at this point?

He will be considered.

But I'm much more optimistic about the scope and quality of the coaching search than I was before. And if it's a true search, I expect that he will be beaten out by stronger candidates.

Coaches like A Box of Rocks would be higher on my list, but I digress...

I don't love Charlie Strong, so don't jump down my throat, and he's probably my 5th choice, but I don't think he sucks, and I don't get the HATE for him. I'd rather Butch, Herman, Fuente, Richt, but I wouldn't start flying banners on day 1 if Strong was hired. I might on day 4, but not day 1. He killed it at Louisville, he had great defenses at USC, UF and UL, he kills it recruiting South Florida, and I don't think he was a good fit for Texas. Now, a great coach should be a good fit, or make it work anywhere, which is why he's 5th or so on my list, but again, I don't get he HATE.

It's year 2... and Texas was seriously depleted when he got there. He could just as easily be 5-3 as 3-5 right now. He's had a lot of misfortune there & is a just a terrible fit. His tenure at Louisville is more a reflection as to who he is than his time at Texas. JMO

Honestly. I want Butch. I love the idea of him coming back. But if Chip Kelly came on the table:

Kelly >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Everyone else.

Wrong.

Fitzpatrick has marshall and decker. Can has nobody at wide receiver. I mean nobody. Olsen is his only option.

No national championships to show for it... coaching in a soft finesse conference. Chip would be getting blown out at Texas worse than Strong bc he doesn't know how to field a defense.

I think it would take a huge amount of loyalty for Kenny to come here and be OC.

He's going to be an NFL OC soon. I know it would be a stepping stone for him here but I have no clue what his draw to the college game and Miami really is.

Jed Fisch did it too though coming from Seattle.

Hard to imaging not picking Butch if they are seriously considering him. Strong had more glow before he went to UT. UT is one of those places where losing is almost unforgivable. I can understand Strong might want out of there; UT had the same negative impact on our team before the Cotton Bowl. I see him as much hirer risk than Butch. Also, I think being able to hirer a name like Butch immediately is such a huge edge for recruiting class that we must get it done.

Because the B12 and ACC are full of tough defenses?
You sound like a comment section

There's also the issue that Southern Cal apparently has taken a pass on both Herman and Fuente. So that's clarified the issue somewhat. Richt also appears to be in trouble in GA, and Beamer is stepping down.
