Charlie Strong is an analyst at Bama

agreed offensively. But Manny on defense comes across as a guy who thinks he's the smartest in the room. Look at our defensive staff. Who can over there can challenge him and it actually stick?
Because he retained coaches from a defense that was one of the best in the country when he was DC? Baker was also considered a rising name in the profession this time two years ago. It hasn't worked out clearly

This statement regarding Manny being willing to do "whatever works" cannot be true if what you say is for real, in terms of Baker not going anywhere.
Not ego though. He would adapt to whatever defensive scheme that would work if results are there.

Just don’t think he’s ready to move on from Baker. Not necessarily ego related. Not sure what to call it... but he thinks some small tweaks and some different ideas from the new co-dc are gonna fix it.

I’m right there with you.

If changes aren't made now then I agree but what would you have done differently on that side in the 24 months he's been HC aside from firing Rumph?

I get what he did the 1st year, bringing in Baker and running his scheme. But after the first year it was clear that it wasn’t working with Baker running Manny’s scheme. I complained when the only changes that were made were on offense. II would have brought in a new and independent DC like he did on offense with Lashlee.

Fair but what kind of message does that send when you're firing both your coordinators after 1 season?

He hasn’t thus far. We’ll see shortly though.
I mean he didn't really need to make any changes as far as DC goes last year...we could argue that our guy Rumph should've gotten the boot but Baker has badly regressed going from 2019 to 2020. And Manny sees it...he has gotten the attention of SoFLA by doing whatever it takes to win, hence the 1 and one Enos hire. Now if he doesn't do anything and allows Baker to stay as DC, then we'll have our answer.

I do believe that some of the DC names being thrown out there not being hired yet is telling....I think they're waiting to see if Manny can convince Blake & Co to up the ante and show that CFB world that they are serious about making Miami a big time contender again. Even the best Jimmy's and Joe's needs good X's and O's.....can have the biggest guns in the building but if you can't aim straight it does you zero good.

My $$$ is on Manny this time...he did what was needed last year, I say he does it again....

He’s still been coaching bro.
you act like he been in a bunker hiding out or something. For people that say guys like muschamp and strong have not been DC’s in years, just because they’ve been head coaches doesn’t mean they stopped coaching their teams lol. They are there at practice and in games coaching every day smh. Nothing gets done without their input and feedback. They run not only the defensive side but the entire show now

the last go around for champ as a DC didn't end well either.

Louisville, nobody seems to be able to have a good D in Texas or the Big 12 and USF is in another conference that plays zero D. Strong would be a wise choice. He would have the same type of talent here that he had when he was at UF.

UF was a model for what Miami should do offensively and defensively dating back to the 2005 Urban Meyer/Charlie Strong days when they were winning championships. Charlie changes his fronts, blitzes and coverages real well.

Now if you asked me if Charlie was my first choice I would adamantly say no. Leonhart at Wisconsin would be #1 on my list. He runs the same D Dave Aranda did. An attacking style 3-4 like the Dolphins/Wisconsin runs

the issue with going by what they did in 05-09 is that the game has changed since then. you cant do what you did nearly 15 years ago

The message is that Manny had to put together a staff rather quickly after Richt retired and in the process brought on coaches that were under-qualified. Lashlee is a quality coordinator. Strong's resume speaks for itself. Give him the right $ and he will come.
