Please list your rational for Rosier, Testeverde, Weldon, or Perry being a proven better options at this point? If Evan was as good as Trubisky this wouldn't even be a conversation
Lol at a walk on qb giving us the best opportunity to beat FSU and being compared to a 1st round draft pick.
I must have missed those three or four touchdown passes Malik through against Clemson in relief of Brad Kaaya. Clemson is a much better comparison for what he'll face over the Duke game people are pounding their chest over.
He's the same moron who said the guy who got drafted in the NFL by the Lions is garbage. But go figure...
Kaaya is garbage like 99% of NFL draft picks that get drafted at the end of the 6th round.
But to answer the original hilarious response.... my rationale is simply Shireffs is a walk on caliber qb The End. I'm not talking about the other qbs.
Yes. In fact, he's looked the best so far.
Lmfao at s negging this post.
Expect some real
Talk once I get this car unloaded and some beers in me
Smfh at pulling for a QB rather than whoever is best QB
I don't know about the rest of the schedule, but if Shirreffs is the starter against FSU, I don't see us winning that game, unless we get a non-offensive touchdown. They are going to force him to complete downfield passes the entire game, and he doesn't have the arm talent to do that on a consistent basis.
No clue why everyone is so upset about Evan being in the race against a kid that has had 4 practices of college ball.
For those that actually know...what kind of arm does Shireffs have? What does it compare to?

He was ranked as a 3 star recruit by 247.
Evan Shirreffs, Miami, Pro-Style Quarterback
Walk on or not, what matters is winning the qb competition. I'd hope every single player is better after three years. Player development is a real thing.
Here is an interesting reading list.
25 Greatest Walk-Ons of the BCS Era | Bleacher Report
Might notice a pretty good Miami hurricane on that list. If Sherriffs has put in the work to improve and wins the job in open competition, how is that a bad thing? Shouldn't the coaches be lauded for shaping a raw qb and the player congratulated for putting in the necessary work to win the position?
I like Perry because Richt has likened him to Charlie Ward, but I am not going to whine if Richt names Sherriffs the starter.
Not at all true. The discussion is about the QBs on this team relative to one another, period. Dorsey isn't relevant to this discussion because his attributes became very apparent. All Malik did was not messup the Duke game so bad that our Desperado return still had a chance.I must have missed those three or four touchdown passes Malik through against Clemson in relief of Brad Kaaya. LOL...according to this logic, you would've been writing off Dorsey in 00' because He "only beat Rutgers, Syracuse, & Temple" in 99'.
Bottom line, here's a quote from someone who actually played with Shirreffs: "Spot on, Evan is more than capable to leading the team this year and is still my pick at this point."

LOL...Dorsey sucked *** when He had to step in for Kelly...so much so that Al Blades cussed His *** out...LOL.
Bro you would've been $h!tt!ng on Dorsey in 00'...matter of fact you would've been part of the lynch mob that wanted His head after the UW loss in 00..."His attributes became very apparent"...LOL.
You do realize that there is better precedent for a "walk-on" quarterback having success than a true freshman right? Please list your rational for Rosier, Testeverde, Weldon, or Perry being a proven better options at this point? If Evan was as good as Trubisky this wouldn't even be a conversation

My comparison for Shirreffs is an athletic Ryan Williams, and I mean that as a complement.

Could you elaborate on that comparison a bit DMoney? Only because as a fan I never got to see Ryan Williams in action either so it's difficult to get a feel for what a "more athletic" Williams would actually look like... So what exactly have you seen this year that Sherriffs brings to the table?
Posted this darn near 2 years ago. Kid makes a LOT of throws down the field. A lot of throws down the middle of the field, with confidence. Excellent PA pass ability. Not afraid to run the ball if he has to. He has the tools, and smarts, to do really well here. Also, he'll have the most talented skill position players we have seen at UM in many, many years.
Whoever wins the job will be surrounded by a wealth of talent, and I believe all of them can do well.

Yet, no other P5 or G5 school thought him worthy of a scholarship?
You and James Coley must be the only guys with an eye for QB talent ...
