Blaming the good players

So many on here are emotionally invested in Kaaya. Go watch the games without bias. I don't think he gives us the best chance to win. His record as a starter speaks for itself. How many games do I have to watch with him lose as our quarterback for him to develop into a winner? He had a solid line last year with NFL draft picks, a top running back, a top tight end, a top left tackle, a top wide receiver. He still lost too much. He couldn't win a close game. He couldn't convert the important plays.

You can take those stats to your fantasy league.

Even if he is a development. We don't spend 4 years developing quarterbacks at the U. We win now and reload.

I've never said Kaaya was bad but he isn't the 1st round QB half the board says he is. Kaaya at this point is very average. His OL isn't perfect but no ones is. I hope with a new OC Kaaya tak s the next step. I know he is working hard and a good kid but the data doesn't suggest he is great or elite.

he may be a good pro for the very fact he is tall and has a reasonable IQ. but let's no kid ourselves here 1 to 2 guys per year, if that, become serviceable pro quarterbacks. it isn't the easiest transition.

Ken Dorsey had the same and was a winner. Kaaya has to develop a lot more to make it on a NFL roster.

Christian Ponder made it on an NFL roster

Ej Manuel, Brandon weeden, josh freeman and more duds... Tell me more why kaaya can't be a 1st round pick...

All those QBs mentioned are tall, thick in the shoulders and lower body, and can throw a football through a brick wall. Unless you have all-time instincts and can read a defense like Peyton Manning or Joe Montana, you won't get away with having a noodle arm in the show. It just doesn't work once defenders pick up on your tendencies. Kaaya's arm strength is fine for Miami, but it doesn't scream NFL caliber when he lets it fly. He looks like a college QB physically, and that's a bad sign after two full years of playing.

The league has a stereotype in mind, and while it might deviate a little bit for a mobile guy here and there, for the most part they want you to look and act the part. It's why so many bums like Manuel, Weeden, Freeman, Jamarcus Russell, Matt Stafford, and on and on and on get shots at being an NFL QB.

Brad didn't play well on saturday, bet even he would admit that, he's not the problem with this team. The defense quit for about the 15th time during the Golden era, he may be fired but as long as Dorito is here it's still his era. You couple that with an OL that's not overly talented and is being asked to zone block and you have a recipe for disaster.

Kaaya has taken a serious beating this season and I am as upset as the next guy that he didn't go for the fumble Saturday, but with that said kid still hangs in the pocket and delivers when he's being hit. Hopefully we can fix the OL next season and keep him upright.

Comoaring players of theis regime to guys we had when butch was here is insane. We talking hof vs regular rutgers recruits, and these kids get surrounded with better talent in the nfl and stick out a tiny bit more. The talent level has dipped alot alot alot, u gotta be smomin crack to think the kids we put in the league now are compared to what butch was putting in the league

Where the **** have you been? Miami hasn't won 10 games in 12 years. The last time they were competing for championships i was in the 6th grade. So i don't know where all this reloading you have seen is at.

What is more likely......that Miami just keeps missing out on the true great recruits, and gets stuck with the busts.....for three different staffs.

OR

That three fired coaching staffs couldn't get the players to improve?

smfh people. This isn't the Phins! The players need to be taught. That's actually what made Butch great. He recruited great players but then he worked those boys in individual and group. It's probably why Butch isn't a scheme guy bc he spends so much of his practice and coaching on position development. It's why Saban has great scheme in colelge but his pro players underwhelm.

Think about this. Randy can't even get a coordinator job. Coker is a lower division coach. Nix is a HS coach now. Lovett is a position coach in college. Whipple is a lower division HC. Coley is never gonna be an oC again, and neither will No D. Our LB coach never coached LBs before. A high school coach is our RB coach. Our WR is a rookie coach. And don't even get me started on the amateur running the S&C program!

Come on folks it's plain as day what the problem has been. It's not recruiting. You don't need 85 five star players to win. But you do need some real coaching.

You think Kaaya would look the same at Bama or Ohio ST?

The kid is a great talent who still needs to learn and improve

Losing for a decade sucks.

In the midst of this pain, Miami fans have picked up a dumb habit. When things go wrong, we blame our good players for "not being as good as we hyped them to be." Then, when these same guys get to the NFL, they turn out to be even better than we ever hoped.

Calais Campbell- Low-motor, plays too high, slow, glorified cheerleader.
Greg Olsen- Soft, chokes in big games, average hands.
Travis Benjamin- Soft, can't run routes.
Allen Bailey- JAG, stiff.
Orlando Franklin- Dumb, belongs in the CFL.

Last year, Duke Johnson was the target. Now he's making TD catches on Thursday Night Football. This year, people are choosing to dump on Brad Kaaya.

Hopefully, the new coach turns this around fast. It would be nice to appreciate Kaaya while he's still in a Canes uniform.

Kenny Phillips used to get roasted on Grassy. Dude was a freakin stud.

If he went to OSU or Alabama, he wouldn't have seen the field yet.

Only in Miami do we bring in true freshman to start at quarterback from game 1 and expect to have success.

Its basically frustration all the way around from the fan base. This team/University needs someone that will come in and change the whole culture of the program. I want to see trained militants on Saturdays.

isn't that more of a S&C program issue, which many posters has said has been a problem for the team as a whole? kaaya definitely has the frame to put on good weight but he lost weight from his freshman year to soph as designed by the coaches for some strange reason (maybe to make him more mobile???). and kaaya's arm strength seems worse than it is bc he throws off his back foot a lot. something he didn't do as much in high school but immediately starting doing during his first start in louisville when our oline let him get crushed.

bama isn't a good exmaple bc none of their 4 and 5 st qbs have gotten much playing time from the past 4 or 5 recruiting cycles. keep in mind that they have a current FSU flunky starting and a rb playing qb last season.

Fair to say Kaaya has not been what you thought he'd be before the season? Or has the bad oline been too much to overcome?

How has he been a dissapointment? What do you want the guy to do? It's not like he is out there throwing a ton of picks and missing wide open guys. This offense has struggled throughout golden's time here.

Read it again. Slowly if you have to. I never said he's been a disappointment.

Learn how to write, instead. Slowly, if necessary.

Kaaya has been between average and terrible every game this year but FSU.

He was "between average and terrible" against Virginia last week? Virginia Tech? Nebraska?

He played crappy against UNC but has generally looked like I expected. He is going to match or exceed last year's strong numbers despite a non-existent running game and struggling OL.

There's a ton of issues with this fanbase. One of them is if someone looks low effort a single individual play, people jump up your *** if you point it out. As if they are his agent or something. Generally though, people are willing to throw the baby out with the bathwater so often on players and want to turn the page rather than accepting natural variation in a season (see also: Aaron Rodgers 77 yard dud against Denver a couple of weeks ago). We as a fanbase need to stop being so **** reactionary to both specific game-to-game criticism and also to how players are playing on a week to week basis, particularly if they are coached by a bunch of jags.

I don't see people saying Kaaya sucks. The point is Kaaya isn't the QB a lot of porsters said he was. Kaaya is a good QB and his numbers suggest that. Nothing about his numbers this year suggest he is great, elite or a 1st round talent. The performance on the field didn't improve from his freshman season, they got worse.

You are smarter than this. Last year he had a capable running game and offensive line... This year he has a dreadful offensive line and run game.... We may be ranked 33rd in the county in sacks given up but kaaya has been hit a bunch of times on his completed passes... And please don't compare kaayas play to Dorsey who starred on 3 of the best teams of all time...

In spite of a horrible offensive line and run game he has 2458 yards 13tds 4 ints 62%
