Aranda To Lsu

Why does everyone hate Jancek?

I ask because I know nothing of the man.

B/C his defenses suck?

Explain or naw?

It's his third season at UT. More than enough time to implement his system, and he comes in with the 46th ranked total D in the nation. His scoring defense is 25th in the nation, these are not much different numbers than what we saw with D'Onofrio and actually worse than any of the John Lovett defenses.

The point is, this guy isn't terrible, but if you are expecting a repeat of great Canes defense, I don't see how hiring a guy who is thoroughly mediocre is going to get you there.

Who says we ever made a play for him.

Why does that matter? He's a great DC, and it's obvious from him jumping onto a sinking LSU ship that he was open to move pretty much anywhere for a big raise. If you pass on a great option, then you better have a better option lined up. That's the way it works.

I won't judge this DC merry-go-round until Richt hires his guy. Then, we'll see who got the best guy.

I'm still waiting for Dalvin Cook to commit to Miami. Probably the worst call by anyone in the history of this board.

Still no one has told me why Jancek is a bad hire.

I've watched every Tennessee game over the last few years being in Nashville. He's pretty average. He's not in the top 30 in anything. Tennessee defense doesn't really excel in anything outside of 3rd down stops (good stat). They don't create a bunch of turnovers and they don't get to the qb much despite a lot of pressure. Their defense had a chance to shut down 3 of 4 games this year and failed to do so (blew 17 point leads vs OU, UF and late lead vs Bama), but their offense also ****ed them. Just not anything overly impressive.

Exactly. Guys don't realize there is an ocean of coordinators in between Pat Narduzzi and Mark D'Onofrio. And a lot of them are mediocre. BVG, Jancek fall into this category. They aren't going to be bad, but they aren't going to be all that good either.

College football is becoming more and more like MLB now with these coaching salaries. It's getting to the point where we are just buying titles now.

Bama has more coaches than an NFL staff. LSU may have shelled out 7 figures to get this guy. Just doesn't feel right to me when the rich constantly get richer, simply b/c they can buy more stuff.

This is the world we live in, Fully, the more money you have, the more you can do with it.... man, I need to hit that gott**** lottery..

I was just gonna say this he gets conservative at the end of games they played great against OKlahpma and florida until the end

I'm not sure about this but since you guys watch tenn football you would know. Wasn't his defense young with no real depth on the back seven or just the secondary?

I'm thinking now that it's going to be Jancek.....I'm not overly impressed, but I'm ok with it.....get Lorenzo Ward or Derrick Ansley for the secondary and I'm happy

I don't even think Jancek would come here unless Tennessee fires him but with the way his defense "dominated" the #13 team in the nation he might end up staying there.

It might be a name nobody even seen coming. But im suspecting that the DB coach is already known. Could be waiting on either Olivadotti or Jancek....we should know more by Monday

Aranda's LSU salary range will have to be in the $1.2 -$1.5 million range per year. Miami was supposedly willing to go to $1 million for top tier DC.

The bigger problem than Miami not getting Aranda is that he went to LSU and he is a well known recruiter of Florida talent, and now he will have the $EC bag me behind.

If it's 1mil tops, let's not rule out Raymond as DC. He may bolt after not getting the DC position....we will see shortly
