Another name in the mix

Kliff Kingsbury is a 36 year old who has been miserable as a HC. Yea, sounds like the perfect recipe for success here! Are people really this dense?

So this 40 names thing was legit?

No way they're hiring someone the first two weeks of December at this rate.

I wouldn't say he's been miserable as a HC all things considered- imagine that team with Baker Mayfield as the QB the past two years- but he's got a long way to go to get here. He really needs at least five more years to learn game management and adjustments based on time and situation.

His teams are in position to win often times, but game management causes some games to slip away. Given what they are at Texas Tech, going to bowls is a good job for them, but given the fact we have all but probably 20 candidates in the country to look at, this wouldn't be the right time.

If Cliff Queensbury looked like a 36 yr old Mark Mangino would we be having this conversation? Things getting real ghey up in here. Should we see if Jesse Palmer is interested?

I'm sorry, but I don't believe KK is in the mix for a minute. If he is we are in big trouble.

The committee literally threw out 40 names to Korn Ferry. He might be one of them, quit freaking out. I guarantee he doesn't want to leave his alma mater. That would be like Mario as HC here leaving for Arkansas or something random like that. God forbid Mario get this job like I just joked about...

Names like Bielema, Mora Jr, Fedora, Stoops, Rich Rod, etc are coming up too. I would just say Kliff is in that category of random names they are looking at.

Get him a good DC and put him with the Miami talent and we would be legit. Better than Mario for sure, but at this point in his career it's a no go. But what is he like 35? He's going to ride out TTU as long as he can, he's getting paid well anyway.

At least it's not the typical Miami guy bro. Not a big fan but we at least we are moving in the right direction if true. Now let's move up a level and see if Gundy, Patterson or Mullen want a change of scenery

I'm just glad we haven't heard the name Curtis Johnson yet. I guess even his former player friends realize it'd be embarrassing for them to even mention him. Bernie is probably still trying to sell Trestman though.

Clinton Portis has been hyping CJ quite a bit. Thank goodness he's not getting more traction

This. Appreciate the info D$. Nothing to freak out about.

This is definitely NOT an endorsement from me, and I've heard nothing to indicate this guy is a leading candidate or anything like that. So there is no need to overreact.

But a plugged-in source told me to keep an eye on this name, and the candidate has ties to Vilma (from the Jets) and Testaverde (from coaching his son).

Kliff Kingsbury, Texas Tech.

If they are going in that sort of direction, then I would prefer Dino Babers or even the Toledo coach.

Yikes. I'd roll with Willie Taggart over Kingsbury. Why is this necessary? There are better alternatives.

I think his name came up because of his ties to Vilma and Testaverde. All three guys were on the 2005 Jets.

Holy ****.

Mario Cristobal
Charlie Strong
Kliff Kingsbury

Are we self imposing sanctions again for something we did wrong or did I miss something? I mean...these idiots running our program have swung and missed on 3 straight hires...are they purposely trying to strike out a fourth time?

The more news like this that I hear the more attractive it makes retreads like Chud and Schiano look. UM's administration needs to be saved from itself.

Kingsbury has been an OC and HC 6 years. His offenses have been ranked 1st twice, 2nd twice and 4th once in scoring offense nationally. That's not just another guy who runs a spread offense. I'm not an X's and O's guy but this guy seems to have a "decided schematic advantage." He was coordinator of the year twice.

The fact that it's the UM guys on the search committee recommending him says a lot. If anyone should know the culture it's them

Plus doesn't he just reek of a young Jimmy. Who knows if he'll ever have the eye for talent but in terms of attitude and confidence. It would be so refreshing and fun.

I'm not sure Kingsbury is a better option than Lane Kiffin ...

But if he is looking to leave Texas Tech, I think he would be a great fit at Maryland!

Already at an Under Armour school, will bring high scoring offenses to the B1G, and would be a great "face" for their program.

Probably won't beat Ohio State, Michigan, or Michigan State, but should be able to beat Penn State. I could seen him winning 9 games a year at Maryland. He'll also be positioned well when those other 3 schools have to replace their HCs.

Watch for Kingsbury to Maryland ...
