Another name in the mix

This is definitely NOT an endorsement from me, and I've heard nothing to indicate this guy is a leading candidate or anything like that. So there is no need to overreact.

But a plugged-in source told me to keep an eye on this name, and the candidate has ties to Vilma (from the Jets) and Testaverde (from coaching his son).

Kliff Kingsbury, Texas Tech.

If they are going in that sort of direction, then I would prefer Dino Babers or even the Toledo coach.

Yikes. I'd roll with Willie Taggart over Kingsbury. Why is this necessary? There are better alternatives.

I think his name came up because of his ties to Vilma and Testaverde. All three guys were on the 2005 Jets.

EVeryone has some sort of 6 degrees of separation from someone, doesn't mean they should make the list

Here's a name that could start to come up as well...John Harbaugh. Ravens have had issues this year and while he doesn't have ties to the miami area per say, he has coached many of former star Canes on that nasty Baltimore defense of the past. I saw his name in an online article...I can't seem to find it now. I would think another nfl team would want him before he fell to the college ranks but who knows. Just thought it was interesting to even see his name in that article.

I nearly threw up in my mouth watching USF v Cinn and they mentioned this clown.

I like it more than a lot of names out there, your D can improve by just the talent increase going from TT to Miami. The great point in this thread was if you're gonna go that way, why not Mike Leach who's completely turned Wazzu around

Issues in Baltimore? This will be his first losing season. He's not going to be fired so unless you think he's going to leave on his own, this will not happen.

Our AD has Mario on his list and we are complaining about a guy w a winning record at TT?!

Who? I am getting tired of all these head games trying make believe someone other than Butch Davis has any business being the HC at THE U. GIVE ME BUTCH OR GIVE ME DEATH.

Where will your funeral be held.. I'll send a box of white flowers.. for peace

Of course there are better alternatives at the present time, but Kingsbury would destroy Willie Taggart and many of the other clowns we have seen names pop up. Watch him spank Strong this weekend and send the UT natives in a whirlwind.

#1 3rd down offense
#2 scoring offense
#3 Total offense
#5 Yards per play
#25 RZ offense

Guy is a DC away from destroying teams. As far as the current DC David Gibbs goes. I really am not sure of the reason for TT failures on that side of the ball. His 1st season as Houston's DC he took the 118th ranked D and bumped them up to 80th in 2013. Then jumped from 80th to 20th in the nation in 2014. This season TT hasn't made a jump in Gibbs 1st year, but i think next season will be the deciding factor on whether or not KK keeps him around. Gibbs while as Auburn's DC in 2005 was ranked 10th in the nation total D and 7th in scoring.

I personally don't see Kingsbury leaving TT, but for people on here to trash the guy aren't doing any research.

Our Lady Queen of Mercy. Prefer red roses, please. Oh, brush up on the Latin because the Rosary will be in the language of the Angels --- I need all the help I can get.

Dreadful defenses. They don't even try to tackle, which tells me his teams are just soft. Can't win that way.

Second, Mike Leach did a lot better at the same school, and he at least tries to play defense.

I'm not sure Kingsbury is a better option than Lane Kiffin ...

But if he is looking to leave Texas Tech, I think he would be a great fit at Maryland!

Already at an Under Armour school, will bring high scoring offenses to the B1G, and would be a great "face" for their program.

Probably won't beat Ohio State, Michigan, or Michigan State, but should be able to beat Penn State. I could seen him winning 9 games a year at Maryland. He'll also be positioned well when those other 3 schools have to replace their HCs.

Watch for Kingsbury to Maryland ...

Yes. That Under Armour to Under Armour thing is very important when it comes to selecting a new HC. If TTU was an Adidas school I'd never think of him for the Maryland gig.

But if they were an Adidas school, Kingsbury might be a bigger option for Miami.

Apparel contracts are the key indicator for all coaching moves.
