Update on transfer QBs

Coming out of OSU transfer Tate Martell’s visit to campus yesterday, I’m told by a program source that Miami is actually more confident in landing Martell than Alabama transfer Jalen Hurts at this time. It seems confidence has slipped with Hurts a bit, as heading into his weekend visit, all indicators out of Coral Gables was that he was UM’s to lose, but things seem more up in the air right now on what he’ll do. Confidence is higher with Martell though and I’m hearing Miami feels they are in the prime position to land him as of now. I would make a Miami pick on him if I could.

Martell makes his final decision next week between UM, Louisville, and WVU, while Hurts will choose between schools like Miami, Maryland, and OU among others.

Probably answered in this thread, but does Stefan know of Mertell can play right away?

Martell was 25-28 in passing attempts this year and Jarren hasn’t thrown a pass yet. Martell is also a much better athlete and faster than Jarren. I am not bagging on Jarren, I think he has potential but your kidding yourself if you think at this point Jarren is better....

Which would be weird because what actual reason other then he'd make then money this year would the NCAA have to give him a waiver?

Fields is claiming that the one known incident (as well as multiple other incidents only alluded to by someone in his camp) would have created a sufficient hostile (and racist) environment for him, and that Fields' request for waiver should be a slam dunk.

I am not opining on whether that is true or not. I am simply pointing out that it is a plausible scenario, but I have heard absolutely nothing comparable in relation to Martell. Again, not that there is no rationale, just that I haven't heard one.

it's easily doable. players usually take at least 2 summer classes/session if they're scholarship guys.

18 credits in his ee and redshirt year leaves him 12 credits short. 4 high school ap classes or 3 classes/summer instead of 2 puts him at 120, and that's not a very loaded schedule.

edit; Martell could also seek a waiver like Fields will do

fields has a racial incident (which is being very overblown, tbh) to use as a basis for a waiver. martell has broken promises, but that would never fly (especially if he transferred here).

Must of us during the season were only at 12 credits during the fall, and made up for it with the summer classes as the coaches wanted us to focus on the season.

Not saying it couldn’t happen but 18 plus everything going on during the season is tough. We also don’t know how many credits he transferred in with from H.S

One of the reasons he wanted to leave. Kid has had a QB coach for years. He knew what was NOT happening for him. So did his dad. Probably Quincy Avery knew too

You are right about Jarren. I believe he was the leading rusher on his HS team, too.
