Update on transfer QBs

Because there’s a change in head coaches and a change in offensive scheme. Martell was Urban’s guy, Fields is Day’s guy.

Urban was sitting courtside with Fields while Martell was up in the bleachers

It'll be an interesting qb battle if we get Martell and miss out on Hurts. According to the information out there, Martell would have to stay at OSU until the summer to graduate which would give Jarren an advantage. May the best man win

edit; Martell could also seek a waiver like Fields will do

Martell can't play for us until 2020 if he transfers, right?

There are reports that he can graduate from OSU this summer. He could also transfer here and seek a waiver like Justin Fields will do at OSU

Primary question are they both able to run Enos system and make the necessary reads and throws. We know Hurts can at this point. Martell seems to be the more accurate of the 2. As long as we get 1 of them to improve the competition in the QB room I'm good

I'd rather roll with Martell than Hurts. Hurts was the incumbent and he couldn't beat out true freshman Tua. Also, the kid may be a great leader but he can't throw the football and he won't have the best offensive line in college football in front of him. He reminds me of a Bob Griese, good player but is surrounded by great talent that makes him look much better than he really is. I'll take my chances with Cade, Perry, and especially Williams. Adding Martell would create a lot of excitement and competition. Don't believe Hurts is coming and not concerned at all. Remember, all three of our present QB's had lousy coaching the past few years and that will change shortly. GO CANES
This is just pure stupidity. You do know that Hurts is a grad transfer and elligible immediately with 1 yr elligibility left, while Martell has to sit a yr because he is not a grad transfer, and he has no chance of getting any kind of waiver. This isn't an either/or scenario. This is a "we want both" type of thing. Our starter THIS SEASON is either going to be Jarren, Nkosi, Cade, or the grad transfer. Thats it. If the Buffalo QB hadn't declared for the draft, I'd probably prefer him. but he did, which makes Hurts by far our best option. The only way it makes sense to choose Martell and not want Hurts is if Martell somehow can graduate from tOSU before coming here, which I doubt. That would mean he graduated in what <3 years? Doubtful thats even an option, even if he did stay at tOSU over Spring.

So because a student, who was dismissed, called him a bad word, he is free to play immediately wherever he wants? I could maybe understand if it was a coach or paid employee. But a student who is no longer enrolled at the university? I’m not being racially insensitive, but that’s bull****. Why didn’t Fields quit as soon as it happened? You commit to play for schools in honky *** towns, that’s what happens. You don’t reward the kid for his bad decision.

We're in agreement here bud. My point is if Fields was white and called a cracker there's not a chance in **** he'd get a waiver.

Bishop Gorman is pumping out TALENT like St. Thomas Aquinas. People go to that school to win even if its 2 hours away. Not saying Martell is only good because the talent around him. Just saying Jarren Williams didn't have that much talent around him
Watch the game in which Martell beat St Thomas. St Thomas was clearly the more talented team yet Martell was able to pull that one out!

Anyone can ASK for a waiver. Have we heard anything about specific reasons he could cite, which would make it more likely to have the waiver granted?

Some others saying Martell could graduate this Semester and be Grad transfer

Man...sorry to lose Hurts. All indicators are saying Oklahoma.

Highly unlikely. Two spring semesters, 2 fall semesters, 2 summers...as a scholarship athlete...to get 120 hours? Almost impossible. If he took 18 credits in the fall and spring semesters, that is still only 72 credits.

I think it's obvious that he's using that as an excuse to not sit out when he transfers.

Getting both would be ideal as Hurts would play this year in a system he knows while Martell can take a year to learn the system and then start if he beats out Williams.

No, but if the NCAA grants Fields a waiver next month who knows
