Never seen a board meltdown over a recruit who's committed to us

What Franchise said.

Disagree.

A does of perspective would be healthy right about now. How many times have we seen premiere out-of-state oral commits succumb to hometown pressure, whether it's the media, extended family, high school teammates (including their go-to receiver), and even his high school coaching staff (I think I read his coach brought him into the office and called Moron for him) - ****in' everyone in the hometown in his ear and in his mind. That's a ton of pressure on a 17 year old kid trying to graduate high school, lead his team to a state championship, and squeeze in some time here and there for some pussoi.

A statement like "I'm 100% committed to Miami," and you're the hometown turncoat. A statement like "I'm still committed to Miami, but I owe it to myself to explore all my options," and you're sending mixed signals to The Don and Co. A statement like his mother made perhaps gives the kid some breathing room, as he reaffirms his commitment to the coaches, but still gives homers some cause for optimism. But most importantly, it gives the kid the breathing room he needs to get through the season and his senior year.

I believe this was more about buying himself four relatively unmolested months. The statement "leave me alone, I'll deal with all of it after the season" accomplishes that to the greatest extent possible.

We have read his and his mother's statements over the past few months. They always seem measured, calculated, and appropriately edited (whether by them personally or a friend/advisor).

Until we hear of the staff extending offers to other QBs in the next few weeks, or unless he actually starts doing interviews and playing the recruiting game(s), I'm gonna keep on keepin' the faith in a kid who was born to be a Cane and who, by most accounts (on this board anyway), is one of the few young men these days who get such virtues as commitment, honor and the Golden Rule.

So I will stand with the "step away from the ledge" crowd.

It's great to be ... again.

Just so we're clear, I'm not on the ledge at all. As I said earlier, even if he decides to stay closer to home, I feel like Big Al will have a backup plan. I'm just a bit skeptical about him ending up here. Doesn't mean I'm right, but that's how I feel. I stated that in the very beginning when the news originally broke about Kaaya and Rozier committing.

Not you, 1775! Everyone else :quag:
But I still think it's what's going on. Just another worthless opinion, though.

Some of you all obviously can't comprehend what she is saying. Y'all are so insecure. Stop posting stuff like he is gone or since he didn't say he is 100 percent committed to miami that he is gone. Stop assuming because some of you look foolish. He loves the coaches and have a great relationship with them.

Yeah yeah, that's great - who do you think we'll replace Kaaya with?

And I'm not usually one of those guys but its pretty clear that Kaaya and his mom both read this board.

So if he decides to weasel out of his commitment they can blame UM fans for being too suspicious. No one's said anything nasty. Some of them think he's gone, and some of us aren't sure if he's gone or not, but we're suspicious of the double-talk. Seems like a pretty civil discourse so far.

The only thing anybody would be happy with is if they say he's all Cane but he like every other recruit has the right to weight his options. She's being a parent and making sure he makes the best decision for himself and we still haven't seen anything that Brad himself talking about this so why is everybody jumping to conclusions?

He wasn't "weighing any options" when he didn't have any options. Fck all that fake bullshyt talk about weighing options. UM was there for the dude when no one wanted him. That **** sounds like an ugly old nasty stinky dude who couldn't get any chicks but had one who stuck with him despite all his flaws. Then, he wound up getting an inheritance and all of a sudden a bunch of blood-sucking leeches came out of the woodwork and he started "weighing his options".

At the end of the day, you're either a loyal person who understands what commitment means, or you're a fcking weasel. There's no in-between when it comes to loyalty and commitment. It's black and white. I'm hoping Brad is the guy we all thought he was and not a typical four-flushing option-weighing weasel.

Not at all. She made a statement that said Brad was committed to Miami. 70% are saying her comment is BS, I guess I wouldn't like my word being questioned. To each his own.

I'm a UM man. I don't even know the woman. My loyalties lie with UM. When I see stuff that makes me question someone's commitment to UM, then I'll speak on it.

Why is this a bad thing by the way? We're supposed to be supporters of UM, not the defenders of fairness. Why is it wrong to be biased toward UM?

This fake BS classy behavior is for the kuntry club.

Same ish every year around this time, recruiting goes full steam ahead, kids who are committed start getting a BJ from different coaches every week until NSD and all the recruiting rookies on message boards forget to insert their tampons.

Grab the popcorn JP and enjoy the process

So you're mad because his mom said he'll weight his options even though he hasn't said it? Are you 100% positive that he isn't 100% solid and it's not his mom whos thinking of having her son close to home? Even if he is weighting options wouldn't that be the same for Cook, Lane, Powell, Yearby, Valentine, CJ Hampton, Artie Burns, and Gus just to name a few guys who were or currently is committed who we either flipped or wants to flip, wouldn't that make them all "typical four-flushing option-weighing weasels?

It's the Planters Peanut Effect on message boards. There's always a faction of dudes who are fighting to see who has the biggest top hat or the newest whitest spats to impress the other above-the-fray types. They go out of their way to praise other teams, criticize anything and everything UM, and pull for kids to pick the school that is "best for them" even if it's not UM. Fck those guys in their monocles.

I'm just an unabashed dyed-in-the-wool homer and proud of it too. My loyalty is all UM, and I don't hide it. You're either with UM, or you can drop dead for all I care.

Sucks, looked like we had us a good one. Hopefully we can discover another one.

Lulz at all of you mopes.

Of course the kid is going to think about going to the hometown school that offered him. I don't think he's going to leave though. He gonna stay with us.

I ain't sweating it either way, Chaz. I know The Don will work this out in the end. If Kaaya sticks with him commitment we'll welcome him with open arms. If he turns out to be a four-flushing weasel, then...Well, you know what's coming.

Who's mad? Reading comprehension would serve well, young chap. Notice all the "ifs" in my sentences and the other qualifiers that I used.

I realize I'm an idiot, but I had to read that thing twice just to be sure what was said. Way too convoluted of an answer for it to be reassuring. Sounds like something between "he wants to enjoy HS" to "we'll figure this out later" to "it's just an offer we wanted."

Who knows.

Lots of bobbing and weaving to a very simple question/issue. Looked like some old school rope-a-dope **** from Zaire that had George Foreman gasping for air and thinking about inventing cheap griddles.

all time sht Chise :ibisroflmao:

Never seen a board meltdown over a recruit who's committed to us

Need to get used too it, going to be a lot of this between now and NSD, trust in the coaching staff and continue to win, JMO.

Trust in the Don is the best way to look at this. He not only is building a team according to plan, which turns out quality men who were kids when they started. His program preaches and develops family values based on straight talk. If recruits and parents don't see that, it will become more evident over time.

wow, he say all that stuff about the UM program and the coaches and the incoming class, then one offer and BAM its now time to re-evaluate options

good riddance if he bolts, was never a true cane

Dang! 5 pages in 4 hours, all over a substanceless topic.

I miss all the fun.
