Miami's prized QB commit Brad Kaaya was offered by hometown UCLA yesterday, which has caused some Hurricanes fans to worry about the level of his commitment. Brad will not be doing any interviews for now regarding recruiting in order to focus on his senior season, so here is an official statement from his mother, Angela Means-Kaaya, on the status of her son's commitment to Miami:

"Brad is committed to The University of Miami. It is a great staff and a great opportunity for him to become a man away from home. It's his decision, but he'd like to get through his senior season. UCLA had very valid reasons why they didn’t invite Brad to the dance, we get it. But now Brad is in the middle of a very important season that needs his attention. In essence, he's a ‘Cane that just got another offer. He's not running out of a door to run into another one. He has some HS football to play."

What the **** does that mean? That he'll just flip to UCLA after his season is over?

That's not what I took from it at all. I took it as he would start to do interviews again once his season is over.

I'm impressed at how impressionable she is after meeting this staff. Good sign.

Um maybe it means that the only thing on his mind is his H.S. football season?

@CANESFANALLDAY I wouldn't be.

So basically he's going to consider the UCLA offer after the season. OK.

i'm not in the doomsday crowd, but, for some reason, i'm not reassured by her comments or his.

I think her dream scenario is for him to be closer to home and that any mother who got interviewed like Ms.Kaaya they would hype up local schools too because they obviously dont want to say goodbye to their sons but its Brads choice

NICE! Kid said "be fonzi *******...I'M A CANE"

that should calm all these fruitcakes buttholes for a little... ehh, probably not

HE GONE

just playing, but those comments really don't assure anything. if she wanted to make it clear, she would have just said that he's not going anywhere and that he's still a Cane, that any other speculation is just silly. seems like they'll be weighing the option after his season is over. just gotta trust that this coaching staff has done a strong enough job to keep him on our side.

it says what you would expect anyone to do in this situation. he is currently a cane and he isn't just going to drop us willy nilly now that he has other suitors. of course he will think about the offer. its his choice ultimately but both he and his mom recognize the value for him of actually going away to school. i think its a perfectly fine and reasonable statement.

Im not worried at all about this....seems to me she is saying UCLA is too late to the party.....

This, it's pretty easy to see right through her B.S. comments.

" I wouldn't be"

edited for those that dont know twitter

Another thing to remember is she isnt used to recruiting and unlike how some kids who have their own coaches sometimes telling them how to do interviews Ms.Kaaya doesn't have that benefit so some things can easily be taken out of context because she's new at this
